  1. You might want to make sure your NET framework installations are ok with this Microsoft tool to diagnose and fix .NET framework installs https://download.microsoft.com/download/2/B/D/2BDE5459-2225-48B8-830C-AE19CAF038F1/NetFxRepairTool.exe
  2. I just seen where WinXP doesn't allow for NET 4.5 and higher, sorry about that. It might be MBAM has to use 4.5 and higher since WinXP is getting phased out, not sure
  3. I would like to suggest if you use any other Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware programs, you might want to uninstall, for now temporarily. Avast is known to cause issues with MBAM. And I don't know if this applies to you or not, but if a person has too many anti-vrus programs running there can be issues. Such as Zemana AntiMalware, Emsisoft, and others. Somtimes utilities such as CCleaner, iolo System Mechanic can even interfere. I would start from scratch, leave MBAM, but uninstall the biggest culprit, such as if you have Avast, first...Just a suggestion is all. Other help will be better I'm sure.
  4. If you don't uninstall before a new installation, you probably have 'locked' files used by Malwarebytes. This relates to errors you gave in post.
  5. Have you looked at your installed programs using the control panel and see if there's a program you don't recognize or was very recently installed? Also Hitman PRO has this 'Search Manager' in its database for removal. Another good program for Search Manager is ADWCleaner. Free for both programs. Search Manager does need to be uninstalled tho, and the registry entries will be removed using either of the above programs.
  6. Hello. Make sure you're not running multiple programs sharing the same features. Such as Bullguard and Kaspersky, if they both have firewall protection. Or Bullguard, Kaspersky, MalwareBytes ant-malware. This could explain trouble with firewall. Sometimes people over do it for protection such as running 3-4 programs, each detailing the same safeguards and then conflicts can erupt. Generally 2 programs work well. Such as MalwareBytes and Kaspersky, where Kaspersky has a firewall embedded.
  7. Hello. You can try this, it should work out, as this has been going on for a while. Settings: Protection > Advanced settings > *Uncheck* BottomUp ASLR Enforcement option in MS Office column.
  8. All 3 of your programs are known to uninstall Conduit. Sometimes even just removing an unwanted program can remove the search hijacking. If you go through your programs installed, there might be one that looks unknown to you and could be the culprit..
  9. And you have Remote Desktop Sharing enabled in Services, right? I believe Win10 comes with this option as disabled, if I'm not mistaken
  10. ?? - I thought that changing the startup mbamservice to 'Delayed' prevented this from happening with mbamtray not showing after boot up
  11. It's hard to say. The problem with those smart url's is that its a type of invisible link. A cloaking you could call it. When this happens, a person has no idea at all where it's going to go to. And the bigger question then becomes, why the need to make the re-direction a link that doesn't allow you to see it beforehand? It's a 50/50 scenario, but a scenario where there's a disguise going on. Not good
  12. Hello. You might want to try the MBAM chrome browser extension. It works very well and avoids alot of issues between MBAM 3.51-3.61 and Chrome, especially with Chrome's extensions.. Worth a try. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/malwarebytes browser extension
  13. For that error: It looks like it wasn't connecting to https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3/ for the download. I would click the link above to do the download manually, or you could just repeat the process you already tried, again.
  14. 'qrc' = Qt resource files The Qt resource system is a platform-independent mechanism for storing binary files in the application's executable. This is useful if your application always needs a certain set of files (icons, translation files, etc.) and you don't want to run the risk of losing the files. The resource system is based on tight cooperation between qmake, rcc (Qt's resource compiler), and QFile. MBAM has alot of QT files. -- Qt5Core.dll is one of them..
  15. Please don't take offense, in case this was checked beforehand, but you do have PUP detections set to 'Always', right? In MBAM...
  16. Hello. I'm not sure if this issue has been fixed or not. But I would say, be sure to have Malwarebytes fully updated. Doing the update at the bottom of dashboard window only updates the definitions, but up higher there's a button for updating the Application itself.
  17. Do you have 'Fast Startup' enabled in Win10? If so, disable it in order to get the program to acknowledge your key and save the proper file on disk.
  18. The error implies that a hard disk was disconnected or is failing. During the update did you happen to unplug a SSD or HD? Otherwise, I would guess maybe a corrupted download or installation
  19. I've never noticed a slow-down, but wouldn't be too surprised it happen to others. I know the program really checks the traffic and is very sophisticated for what it looks for. Wide-ranging, one could say. Just for my personal opinion, as long as the slow down wasn't too drastic, I would rather have more security that goes 'beyond' what anti-virus softwares do. Checking signatures is one thing when it comes to virii, but when this program checks for much more, such as behaviour and not just web traffic abnormalities, but also windows OS related
  20. I'm guessing you got the original one before you installed MBAM? I'm pretty sure MBAM considers this a risk for download, whether update or full version. I believe that program comes with different program additions that are not recommended for security. Doesn't it come bundled with software, more than itself? What you would have to do since it wasn't downloaded, but blocked, is configure MBAM to make exclusion to the web site, not the program.
  21. From what I've read, and perhaps this has been addressed already with MBAM, but it seems like there's issues when there's 2 different exploit blockers at same time. Seems to be related to that feature. There's been a work-around before on this forum previously that mentioned how to resolve, if this is it. I don't recall exactly, as its been a while, but seems like disabling exploit prevention in Sophos took care of the browser crashes.
