  1. I went to the Malwarebytes support tool and the issue was solved. Great support and advice. Without this support I was lost. TY!
  2. I have lost my access to the Malwarebytes program. The icon is blank. Before it went blank I wrote my numbers down. How can I restore the program? This all happened after I got a red screen that said: webmail.TWC.com which indicated I was locked out of my Road runner email. I am surprised that this hack got thru Malwarebytes, now I need help as no further emails are arriving on Road Runner.
  3. @ Advancedsetup IE: Staff, I did run all of the requested logs! None of them discovered a hidden problem and I did not respond back with that info. I reran Microsoft's Malicious software removal tool Yesterday and it found one embedded problem. It removed it. I have two web home screens, Google and Yahoo. I removed Yahoo and I have had no more HTA popups since removal. Sorry if I failed to follow up on reporting the findings of your recommended tools.
  4. I had problems with popups or actually redirected web sites. I posted the problem asking for help. The help did not solve the problems and I would continually get the popup ending in .HTA. I ran the advanced set up offered by the staff without success. I also ran the Micosoft program to find the malicious file, however it to did not find any hidden files. After giving the popup some thought, I have discovered it only happens when I am on the Yahoo news site. I have to give credit to Malwarebytes for capturing the .HTA file and preventing it from locking my computer up and allowing me to delete the popup. So, I'm going to stay clear of Yahoo news until I prove my theory.
  5. This post is in reference to pop up screens that end in .HTA. I recently removed several files that I thought were the root of the .HTA popup. It is obvious that I have not found the hidden HTA file and that the jerk that is behind this is changing the type of HTA file that is found on the site I am directed to. The screens disappeared for a while, but today I got a new blue screen that resembled Microsoft and the file: MicrosoftUpdate.HTA I immediately closed the screen. I searched and found several references to this redirected screen and popup. One post indicated the the file could be embedded in the "Recovery" section of my computer and the file should be located and removed. So, I did find this tool, but I'm dubious to open it: https://www.securitystronghold.com/gates/hta-file.html#Technical I have used every tool recommended on the forum, and no files have shown up. I'm not a computer guru so any help has to be explained fully.
  6. OK Ron, I have the premium version 3.3.1. I followed step 1 and it is running the scan. I had previously run the FarBar Recovery tool and it found nothing. I had however already removed Skype from the computer. Since that time I have not had any popups from the FlashPlayerHTA. Just now the flag from Malwarebytes popped up indicating there were no threats. The scan was complete. There are no files to attach. MalwareBytes indicates zero threats and zero quarantined. Sorry, but no reason to run steps 2 and 3.
  7. OK, so after searching I found that Skype is the possible carrier of this virus and I removed Skype in two locations. See the info here: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/skype-malvertising-campaign-pushes-fake-flash-player/
  8. I have a Premium version of Malwarebytes. I have run Malwarebytes repeatedly and it does not quarantine the FlashPlayer.hta virus. What is the problem? Web removal search indicates that Malwarebytes will remove and quarantine it.
  9. Ron, The (here) did not show to be working on your post. In addition there was nothing stored in the Malwarebytes protection log. The only indicator I get that there is a "plugin" is a small symbol in the upper right corner of the computer when it is placed on my computer. The symbol is removed once I move to another site or back out of the Yahoo Home page.
  10. While reading Yahoo news I am bombarded by "Plugins". Malwarebytes always blocks them for which I am very well pleased. I am curious as to what damage plugins do and what they are?
  11. @ Phrothos: Would you please explain why after two weeks you folks never mentioned how to do this in the returned support emails?
  12. So the computer guy solved my problems. First he opened my computer in the safe mode. He was then able to disable MB. He then removed the program. Once removed he reinstalled the MB program. Installing the keys needed to be gotten from the MB website as typing them in just would not work. I'm back up and running at the expense of $50. Thanks MB support! (Snide remark intended) to fix a bad upgrade 3.0.
  13. I have discovered that the problem of MB-clean not working is due to not being able to close MB on start. I called my computer Geek and he is on the way to help with that problem. He says he knows how to close MB on start and then get the MB-clean to work. Hopefully the problem will be solved soon.
  14. Telos, I tried the procedure you recommenced. I'm going to make another stab at it now.
  15. I followed Porthos advise. Upon shut down, I get a red screen that says Malwarebytre is being removed. That flag has been up for 5 hours and nothing is happening. Seems like a failure to me.
