Malware Protection stuck at "Starting..."

I just installed the version 3.0 on my desktop computer with windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Malware protection is turned off and after turning it on it's stuck in the starting protection stage. Is there a fix for this error. Malware protection is what I'm paying for.
