  1. Thanks. I thought that was probably the case. That is why I'm going to ditch AnyDesk. I didn't have this problem with TeamViewer. Hopefully I won't with Distant Desktop. Bill
  2. Oops... I looked at pricing and didn't see a free version at first glance. I should have paged down. I installed it on my computer and my wife's computer and I was able to connect to her PC just fine. I think this will work just fine as an alternative to TeamViewer for my needs. Thanks for the suggestion and for correcting my pricing mistake. Bill
  3. Thanks for the reply @Porthos I am using the remote control software to help my 96 year old mother-in-law when she has problems. I only connect a few times a year at most. Distant Desktop would cost too much for that limited use. I used to use TeamViewer for years, but they just cut me off saying I am using it commercially (which I am not). You would think they could see how much I use it, but who knows. That is the only reason I tried AnyDesk. I tried Google Remote Desktop and couldn't get it to work. I kept getting "Unknown error encountered" or something like that. I guess I'll ditch AnyDesk. Thanks, Bill
  4. Anywhere from 5 to 20 times a day Malwarebytes is blocking websites. When I look at the detections, they all have different IP addresses, but they are all "linked" to AnyDesk. I just started using AnyDesk the other day and I've been getting these sites blocked every day. Here is a list of a few detections today. Here is the detail for one of these detections. I I am seeing these on my PC and my wife's PC. I guess I'm concerned about these inbound connections. They are getting blocked on our PCs, but I also have AnyDesk installed on a relatives PC that doesn't have Malwarebytes. Is it a concern? Is AnyDesk not a safe utility to use? Thanks, Bill
  5. Any other ideas on why I am getting the error when checking for updates?
  6. Maybe in uninstalling and re-installing the plugin, I must have gotten the new database as I don't seem to be getting the detection popups any longer. However, this doesn't explain the errors when checking for a database update. I continue to get these every time I check. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin numerous times.
  7. I did this and I'm still getting the error when I check for database updates.
  8. I cleared storage, restarted my browser and checked for updates again and got this error. I retried several times and got the same error.
  9. Thanks @Porthos No wonder I didn't see the "check for database updates" option... it is really hidden. Might be better placed on the first menu, not under Support. In any case. I clicked on that and it said the database is up to date, but I am still getting this pop up warnings.
  10. How do I get a database update in Malwarebytes Browser Guard?
  11. Starting today Malwarebytes Browser Guard is warning me about the fact that it has blocked malware from log.outbraining.com and Images.outbraining.com. Are these false positives. Anytime I go to CNN.COM or SEATTLETIMES.COM I get these. Why did I start getting these today?
  12. I was also on 1.0.82828. I installed 1.0.82846 and I am not getting the detection any longer. Thanks!
  13. A scan last night detected the Neshta virus in the AutoHotKey 2.0.12 setup file. Malwarebytes Scan Report 2024-03-31 061500.txt Is this a false positive? Bill
  14. She looks at each device if she wants to know the situation on that device. She doesn't want to see what is happening on every device in one place. I would agree with her. It makes more sense in a business environment rather than in our situation (a household). It doesn't really cause any issues for her. Just unwanted info. I guess it is just personal preference. She doesn't like the Other Device section because it is unwanted information and just clutters up the UI. Hide it on another tab like Settings or Dashboard. I would agree with her. The same goes for the VPN section.
  15. I think removing the VPN section and Other Devices section would be great. I don't have and don't plan on ever having the MB VPN. I have a one device license and don't need or want an Other Devices section. My wife has a three device license and she doesn't want to see this at all. The VPN and Other Devices sections should be hidden by default and only shown by selecting an option in the settings. As for the huge big blue section on the screen shot on the right... please don't do this. If you must show anything at all please make it an icon on the left like Dashboard and Settings. The dashboard should be simple and clean. Use the options and icons to get to more details.
  16. For me the issue is that I don't have the MB VPN and I don't have any other devices on my one device license. In my case the whole VPN section and Other Devices section are not meaningful. The VPN section in particular ends up just being an ad for the VPN software which I'm not going to ever install. I would prefer that MB not display these sections unless the VPN is installed (for the VPN section) and the license is for more than one device (for the Other Devices section). My second choice would be for MB to add an option so that each of these sections can be hidden unless we wish to see them.
  17. @Porthos I sent you a private message.
  18. Sorry for being a bit snide. It was just really frustrating to not get an answer to my question. I thought I had been pretty clear. I did phrase it three different ways. I was not as explicit as I should have been at first, but thought I had gotten more explicit in my last attempt. Again... just my frustration coming through. Apologies.
  19. Sorry Porthos, but you weren't really answering the question. I thought it was pretty clear and I phrased it in several different ways to be sure. David did answer the question so I did get an answer. We just couldn't connect.
  20. @David H. Lipman Thank you. At least somebody can read.
  21. @Porthos Read my question again. Why is it a beta and announced in the beta forum? MB 5 is no longer in beta. Are updates to the current production release no considered beta? Updates to version 4 where always announce in the Windows support forum not in the MB 4 beta forum.
  22. I give up. I don't understand why you don't want to answer my question.
  23. I understand that point. It was just a senior moment on my part. I just forgot to flip that switch to on. My real question (that I've asked twice now and you have not answered) is why was an update to MB 5 (which is general release at this point) announced in the beta forum? I thought that forum was for beta products. I expected the update to be announced in the Windows Support forum. Are updates to general release versions now being put out as beta and being announced in the beta forum?
  24. Then why is an update to MB 5 being announced in the beta forum and why do I have to turn on beta updates to get the updates? Are updates now being put into beta first and then being released later:?
  25. Thanks. Another senior moment. As for the other thing I mentioned. Is MB 5 still in beta or not.
