  1. I've used an antivirus on systems with 2GB of ram and never had any problems.
  2. Now I like the option of locking the screen like if you are away. Other security products already do that and can be set by the OS for a set amount of inactivity. However, I do not like it automatically closing out things especially if I am working on something unless I specifically give the instruction.
  3. No product can detect 100% of threats. Please see the topic Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers for support options.
  4. Little clarity could be made here. At first I thought they meant they issued a fix that didn't fix the issue that it was for. Although that wouldn't surprise me either really. Hmmm, so why wasn't this addressed?
  5. Stealing is stealing. Use some common sense before posting about you stealing something and asking for advice if it's safe. You will not get any help from us!!
  6. True. I'm in the limited income area, but I'm not worried considering I'm above the average computer user. @MT You can still buy Windows 7. http://www.tigerdire...&Sort=3&Recs=10 I believe NewEgg also has it. Edit: Added link.
  7. Installed over the top of the beta perfectly and no issue as of yet
  8. I stopped using Windows XP over a year ago and haven't really touched it since (same for XP Mode). My dad has a desktop with XP on it, but most of the time he uses my moms laptop with Vista (I even offered to put XP on it when I reformatted it).
  9. That is correct. Also note you get a discount if you purchase more then one license at once.
  10. The best way to figure out the issue is by reading the topic Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers Please read Dale's first link on the explanation that your antivirus is not being blocked. This is a Windows feature and unfortunately there is no way for Malwarebytes' to determine the actual program initiating the connection.
  11. Hi Malwarebytes' is actually not blocking Avast. It has to do with how Malwarebytes' hooks into Windows and monitors traffic and the way Windows handles it. It's showing Avast as Avast is monitoring the same traffic thus Windows returns Avast as the process and Malwarebytes' returns that. Unfortunately this is how Windows works so there's no real way to return the actual process accessing the ip. Do you have any torrent applications or Skype?
  12. That's too generic of a name to give you anything specific. There could be thousands in this particular category and knowing which one you have is impossible. Please see Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers Also it is better to start your topic then replying to one several months old.
  13. Please calm down. The instructions are there to help find the best support options that are available to you. Also the problem you are having has not been reported as far as I've seen and I have no issues. Just because you do doesn't mean everybody does.
  14. Sorry we are unable to offer any help with testing malware. Be aware that testing malware on any live environment is risky and that there are many precautions that must be taken. Playing with malware is like playing with fire you are going to get burned if not handled properly. You don't want this spreading to other computers as you may have some very unhappy people...
  15. I've also used the Windows 8 version of Windows Defender and have had no problems. The core is indentical to Microsoft Security Essentials so you shouldn't have any issues as both already work together perfectly.
  16. Sadly they don't offer it anymore.
  17. The outgoing ip may indicate an infection. http://hosts-file.ne...?s=195.3.145.86 Please take a look at the below link for having your pc checked out for free by our volunteers here. They should be able to determine if it's a malware problem or not. 18. Hi The process being blocked is not actually Avast. It's showing that because the way Malwarebytes' hooks into the Windows api and thus shows Avast as Avast is analyzing the traffic as well. Do you have any torrent programs running? That's the only thing I can think of. If you think you are infected take a look at Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers edit: Fixed link.
  19. Yes it's legit. I have this on my Dell XPS 17 as well. It's for controlling the usb on the motherboard within Windows. This is for the newer usb 3.0. Most computers (I think) only come with one or two ports and the rest the older usb 2.0.
  20. Just a suggestion to avoid future detections is to have MBAM ignore the project directories. The problem with any security software is that they often flag custom built programs. It just happens so you can't really do much about it other then reporting it which may be ineffective if you regularly recompile and release new versions.
  21. These are not false positives due to the nature of the tools and how they can be used. Technically these are not malicious. However, malware often abuses files that are intended for legitimate use and average pc users have no need for them. You can add them to the ignore list as you downloaded them. I had this same concern a while back ago and that was the response I got.
  22. That sounds like malware behavior. See topic Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers
  23. I agree David is awesome and quite knowledgeable. @Ron I really hope not.....
