  1. So after having used this Sound application for years...And having no further guidance...I'm erring on the side of caution...Uninstalled it from all systems (With Revo Uninstaller to get rid of leftover registry entries, etc). Rebooted and reran scans with Defender (Full) and Malwarebytes (Threat) and again came up with no detections. Oh well...Back to crappy sound.
  2. And I scanned the FXSound installed folder with Defender and MBG...Scanned clean...
  3. OK...So does this mean that the site was possibly taken over...I've been to the site in the past and never gotten warnings (Although it may have been quite some time)... The downloaded fxsound_setup.exe scanned clean with Defender and latest Malwarebytes (Latest definitions). VirusTotal had only 1 of 27 sites flag it but it also said Not Detected. Looking for some guidance on this.
  4. I've been using FX Sound application for quite a long time...I downloaded the update to the program today (Installed on all my computers)... I decided to download the updated installer file as well and immediately got notified by MBG that its a risky site (www.fxsound.com) . Browserguard identified it as a RISKY PATTERN. I also checked the downloaded installer file from the site with Defender and Malwarebytes and both showed clean. I also ran the File through VirusTotal and only one of 27 sites flagged it (Most likely a false positive by the one small Scanner)... Anyway I thought I should point this out to people who know more than me.
  5. Google HATES ad blockers...And Mozilla is bought and paid for by Google...Can't imagine why there's a problem.
  6. I like the new GUI...Yeah at first it was jarring after having been staring at the same MB interface FOREVER...But I've quickly adapted and actually prefer the new GUI.. HOWEVER...The ONLINE PRIVACY VPN section should be able to be disabled in settings. I already use a VPN (Configured on my ROUTER)...I don't need this erroneous ONLINE PRIVACY VPN section in MB telling me erroneous info that my connection is PUBLIC (Which it is NOT)...That definitely needs to be able to be disabled from the GUI...Yeah I get that MB is trying to advertise their VPN BUT probably most here already have a VPN so this is just plain annoying. You get this point across upon installation that yeah MB has a VPN you can pay for...So those that don't have one already can maybe take you up on it...But for those of us who already have a VPN and are happy with it please let us disable this section from display by ticking a box in the settings.
  7. I do use the PAID MB version on ALL my systems and have done so for more than 10 years... OK...I'll add BrowserGuard back into BRAVE. Thanks for the confirmation.
  8. Well I know that Malwarebytes is the Malware specific program for protection on my system...Is that what you meant? Or do you mean that BrowserGuard is still a good supplemental to Brave? When I had it loaded Brave seemed to be intercepting everything before BrowserGuard so BrowserGuard was just sort of sitting there...But if you meant that BrowserGuard may still intercept Malware specific items that Brave may not then I'll put it back in Brave. It just didn't seem to be doing anything since Brave was intercepting the Ads, Tracking, Cookies, etc. already.
  9. Meanwhile...While fed up with waiting on this whole thing which will soon be 3 months since our last update for BrowserGuard (Due to Mozilla)... I decided to download BRAVE on all of my systems...All I can say is WOW...It is F-A-S-T...And during installation guess what...It had an ERROR saying something wanted to install an addon...Yep...It was BROWSERGUARD 2.6.23...Which I went ahead and installed without issue in BRAVE. However I quickly learned that there was no reason for BROWSERGUARD in BRAVE as BRAVE was blocking everything already without BROWSERGUARD needing to do anything...I've configured BRAVE and settings on all my systems...For now Firefox will remain on my systems as a backup browser (I have EDGE forcibly removed on all my systems)... So there was a silver lining in this whole fiasco...I got a faster more secure browser. I've been using Firefox since it's inception and was a Netscape Navigator user before that until that ceased to be. Glad there is a great privacy focused browser that will be available into the future.
  10. Yes...it looks as if that will be the way eventually...I agree that only having Chromium Based browsers is not a good thing. And as a company you need to follow the market usage. At least with chromium based Brave they are supposedly privacy focused. I disregard the Mobile Market as although that has become the dominant platform for many...Those same people are highly unlikely to install a product like MB (Unless it's FREE) (Except for a very small amount of mobile users)... Brave would to me right now seem to be the logical successor to Firefox if Firefox goes under...But who knows...Maybe the silicon valley crowd will keep Firefox alive (But I doubt without expected favors).
  11. Unfortunately the masses want whatever is easy...Hence the domination of Chrome...And the rest Edge since it's already installed. Firefox is down to 4 percent of the market usage...I wonder how much longer they can continue since a lot of their revenue seems to come from Donations (by Google)... If I were running MB and cared about Browserguard as an integral part of Malwarebytes I would be having my devs prepare for compatability with BRAVE since that seems to be the logical choice for if and when Firefox pulls the plug. Hope that doesn't happen but when you are down to 4 percent usage and relying on donations to stay afloat it ain't looking too good.
  12. This is a long standing problem with BrowserGuard and Firefox. I do not know the reason why we often have to wait several versions of BrowserGuard before finally Mozilla approves the BrowserGuard update... BrowserGuard 2.6.17 was released on 18 December 2023. THAT is the version we are on. There have been FOUR released versions since then. This situation is not going to improve for Firefox users. Why doesn't Malwarebytes not offer a download link for an exectuable that will simply update BrowserGuard to the latest version thus bypassing MOZILLA. This is the solution. Not this constant situation of Firefox users being way behind on Browserguard updates. This question and suggestion is for MALWAREBYTES STAFF.
  13. Yes...I finally got everything updated....Two of the 7 Windows 11 / Firefox PCs required reinstall of the Malwarebytes addon (Would not autoupdate no matter what)...The other five autoupdated without issue...
  14. One week later and Mozilla still has 2.6.13 as the current download (Just tested). So this is now 11 days after the stated release date of 2.6.14.
  15. Version 2.6.14 was released several days ago...I found that my version on my Windows 11 PCs was still 2.6.13. I uninstalled Browser Guard and reinstalled it from the Mozilla Website...Guess What? It downloaded and installed version 2.6.13 again....Why are these Browser Guard updates so problematic? (At least for Firefox on Windows).
  16. I failed to mention that I have EIGHT Windows PCs and they all were failing to upgrade to 2.6.11 even when trying to do a manual upgrade it just kept downloading 2.6.10 again...After your reply I tried again on my main PC and NOW it updated to 2.6.11...I'll go ahead and update the other PCs now....Thanks. EDIT: Installed 2.6.11 now on all eight Windows PCs...Two of them required a manual uninstall and reinstall. Made sure to set settings to do AUTOMATIC rather than default on all... Also updated to 2.6.11 on my LINUX System running Firefox 118.01 and my two portable USB Thumb drives runnng portable Firefox 118.01. Everything checked and set to AUTOMATIC now.
  17. Using Firefox 118.01 and Browser Guard 2.6.10....According to the Browser Guard website 2.6.11 has been available since October 6...But I am still getting 2.6.10 when I try to download manually and 2.6.10 does not upgrade to 2.6.11. Was 2.6.11 not uploaded or was it pulled?
  18. OK...I took the zipped putty.exe and put it back in it original location J:\PortableApps\PuTTYPortable\App\putty\PUTTY.EXE. I noticed that my Malwarebytes is now showing 4.5.16.217. Now when running it again it's not blocking it...So the current updates (I had waited 45 minutes after your first posting before trying and I did run MB Updates first). So with the current updates in place it appears to be resolved. Thanks.
  19. Thanks...But now it's quarantining the unpacked PUTTY.exe when attempting to run Putty. 21. Went to install updates form PortableApps.com this morning...Tried to install this update to Putty (Pulled this out of quarantine)... Malwarebytes kept saying it was Malware and stopped installation...Please check and advise. Zipped file attached. PuTTYPortable_0.78_English.paf.zip
  22. Caused failures on FIVE of my SEVEN Windows 11 22H2 PCs. Tried both installing through Windows Update AND the Standalone Installer. FAILED on both. DISABLED all the Realtime Services on Malwarebytes and immediately was able to install successfully on the FIVE Windows 22H2 PCs that had failed previously. Version of Malwarebytes installed on all the systems is 4.5.14.210 with all updates installed. Solution is to disable MB Services and proceed with Windows Update...After successful installation of all Windows Updates reenable MB Services.
  23. Been using this for a long time. Never detected before as malware but detected today. File was installed from Portableapps.com. File is located on Portable USB thumb drive. SynkronPortable.zip
  24. Some say it's also tied to whether you have .NET 3.5 installed. I DO have that installed (To support programs that need it) on all of my systems. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/now-kb5015814-wont-install/f881834b-e983-48f9-b531-324d2f4b7d53 https://www.techradar.com/news/this-windows-11-update-breaks-as-much-as-it-fixes
  25. Most definitely it was resolved on my systems yesterday with 4.5.10.200 by disabling the MB Services (I had tried five times on the problem systems). Once I disabled the MB services the install went without a hitch on all the systems. But hey...Not all systems are created equal (or something like that)..Thanks for letting me know about the recent MB update (I had checked this AM and it was still 4.5.10.200...Updating systems now.
