I believe I have a false-positive detection for Ransom.Cerber on mintty.exe. The database update I have is v2016.12.28.04. I have attached the file being detected in a zip file.
After searching this forum and other places, I can't find anyone else having this same problem. So, I did a backup, set a restore point, and told Malwarebytes to ignore the file. After running the program several times, I do not have any of the symptoms of ransomware.
Mintty is a Windows program that comes with Cygwin as a nicer console application than the Windows command prompt window. It's mostly distributed through Cygwin's "setup-x86.exe" or "setup-x86_64.exe" from http://cygwin.com
