  1. @Firefox, I got the upgrade notification pop up on my Desktop, and the one whenever I open up my Malwarebytes Program to stop. And, the main page of my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to stop displaying the "Your Program Version is Out of Date" and "Install Now" notification. My Malwarebytes Anti-Malware notification icon, displayed when you click the little up arrow on the Taskbar no longer shows a caution sign either. In addition to changing my Update Options settings (I unchecked both) as shown above, and Automated Scheduling for Updates, I looked in the folder you indicated above (hidden by Windows by default, so I had to show hidden files/folders), but the only file I found under Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was called something like MBAM Setup file (for version 3.0.5.1299). I right clicked on the file to check its Properties then checked each tab for information. However, I was unable to delete or move the file because my system said I didn't have Administrative Permission. After trying different things, none of which worked, I logged off, shut down, then rebooted into the Safe Mode. I got back into my account (Safe Mode), and back to that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware folder under Program Data, then deleted that MBAM Setup file. I then restarted my computer and logged back on normally. When the Desktop appeared there was a delay and that pop up box appeared, but blank, then it disappeared. I waited for my Internet access to finish loading and my other security programs to load as well. Then I opened Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. No pop up or main page notification appeared, and my Taskbar little icon didn't show a caution sign either. I updated my Database definitions too. I rebooted again, and everything showed up normal without any notification. I again updated my Database, and everything appears normal. If anyone else reading this wants to try what was suggested, make sure you take your time and don't mess around too much with hidden files and folders. I've been using CCleaner's Registry Cleaner for years, and I've spent some time deleting old program files and folders from the hidden Program Data folders, and I've scoured the Registry for old data as well, so I've got moderate experience with Windows. But, if someone who doesn't have the experience wants to try, ask for assistance and be careful what you touch. This is why System Restore was created. Proceed with caution always, especially when dealing with hidden Program or System files. For now, everything looks as it did before these notifications appeared. I'm gonna guess, if I don't check for Program updates it won't download the Program Setup file since I unchecked as indicated above. We'll see how long this lasts, at least until I upgrade. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I do appreciate it.
  2. @Firefox, I unchecked the Update Options and Automated Scheduling for Updates. I rebooted, but I'm still getting the pop up, and the "Program Version is Out of Date...Install Now" on the programs main page. I manually check for updates every time I log on and before scans. If nothing can be done, that's fine. I keep the program's definitions up-to-date.
  3. The latest version of Malwarebytes 3.0 (v. 3.0.6.1469) was pushed out to my computer today. I "do not" want to upgrade from Malwarebytes 2.2.1.1043 to Malwarebytes 3.0 (v. 3.0.6.1469) yet. From what I'm reading on this forum, problems still exist with the newer version of Malwarebytes, and given the problems I had when I upgraded back in late December, I want to hold off upgrading for now. I understand Malwarebytes will continue to support v. 2.2.1.1043 until June 8, 2017. This upgrade gave me all kinds of problems, and that's why I returned to smoother than butter version 2.0. Honestly, if I could keep using version 2.0 beyond that date, I would. It's been a perfect program for me as have the previous versions. I want to know if the upgrade notifications will continue to pop up on my Desktop and whenever I open up my Malwarebytes Program? And will my program main page continue to show, "Your Program Version is Out of Date" and "Install Now"? But, my main concern is whether my computer is going to get shanghaied, and version 3.0 installed without my permission, just like that scoundrel Bill Gates tried so many times with Windows 10. Is there a way to remove the notifications without upgrading? If not, I can live with the notifications until I upgrade. For those of you who have not experienced any problems with any of the newer versions, I'm glad that's been the case. I'm happy with how everything is humming along with version 2.0 and all my other security programs, and my Windows 7 OS. I want to wait for now. I just didn't want anyone wasting their time trying to convince me to upgrade to the latest version. I'm happy as a clam right now.
  4. Something is confusing me here on one of the problems plaguing Malwarebytes 3.0. It's that some of my fellow users are running scans and these scans are getting stuck on various files. But, what's more disturbing to me, when someone allows a scan to continue for 24-32 hours, and apparently this is par for the course for Malwarebytes 3.0. I'm not an expert, I'm an average user, but when does a scan last 32 hours? I can understand if I was wiping my hard drive using a multi-pass overwrite program. But, I've never had a security scan last more than three hours, and I have a 500 GB hard drive. If it's normal for a Malwarebytes 3.0 scan to last 24-32 hours, even just 6 hours, than disregard these comments. Only those of you with very large hard drives and tons of files can tell me whether a scan should last more than, let's say, three hours. But, if 24-32 hours seems out of the ordinary, Malwarebytes needs to tell everyone there's a problem with the scanning engine. There are many users who don't know scans should not last 24 hours. We all have different levels of experience, but when you scan your system with version 2.0 and it takes an hour and a half, and when you scan your system with version 3.0, and it takes 32 hours, what happened? What's a novice user gonna think? This must be normal because it's a new program. That's not normal. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know when my scan is stuck. But, again, someone with less experience may not know. Those of you running scans, keep tabs on the time and which file is being scanned. Only you know how long it normally takes. But, if the same file is being scanned for a very long time, something could be wrong, and the scanner could be hung-up. I posted my own comments (Malwarebytes 3.0 Nightmare) concerning the problems I had with 3.0. Listed below is what I said about scanning with 3.0. "- Scan lockup using all three scan types. The scanner time continues, but the program is frozen on a file. The frozen file was different on each scan. Each time I had to cancel the scan. I was able to scan most of the time, but it froze on me at least every third scan. And, yes, I ran the scan multiple times each day to see if the problem persisted. It did." Based on scanning with version 2.0, I knew something was wrong when my scans were taking too long with 3.0. I also knew something was wrong when the time ticker continued, but the file being scanned did not change. I know some files take longer than others, but not that long. Especially more than an hour. There's something wrong with the Malwarebytes 3.0 scanner. From what I've seen, we all have had scans freeze on different files. There's no common file we all have that's locking up the scanner. Just as I said above, my scans were not consistent. I was getting freezes on all three types of scans. I ran a Hyper Scan with 3.0 and I returned to my computer assuming it was complete, but it got hung-up on some system file, and the timer continued to run...it was over the two-hour mark. On my system it normally takes 10 minutes. What I'm curious about...are the folks at Malwarebytes getting scanner hang-up on different files using 3.0 on their computers? Because I have not read this on any of the comments. If someone at Malwarebytes has had the same problem, I'd like to know. If comments were made about this, then I just didn't see them. A computer is a computer, and most of us run similar software. Windows 7 64-bit, which I have, seems to be a thorn in Malwarebytes 3.0's side. I run scans daily using all my applicable security programs. That's what I'm paying for. None of my other security programs are getting hung-up. Just the now uninstalled 3.0. I've run all three scans with the reinstalled version 2.0, and all complete their scans in the same times as before. Scanners should not get hung-up on different files on different computers. So, logic dictates it must be version 3.0. I just wish Malwarebytes would let folks know it's not normal for a scan to last 32 hours. Of course, if I'm wrong, again, disregard.
  5. digmorcrusher, Are you running Emsisoft Anti-Malware Full Version (Real-time) or the passive (non-Real-time)? I know Emsisoft started advising against running real-time with other security programs, however, for years now, I have been running Emsisoft Anti-Malware Full Version (which uses two detection engines, theirs and Bitdefender's), Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (free), McAfee LiveSafe Anti-Virus Suite, and Adguard Premium. Up until I downloaded Malwarebytes 3.0, I never had any major issues with any of my programs. What I listed above never occurred before 3.0 was installed. As soon as it was removed, my problems disappeared. I understand having read other posts, Malwarebytes 3.0 doesn't play well with Microsoft Security Essentials, but I don't use it, so that doesn't apply to me. I use McAfee LiveSafe for various reasons, first and foremost, because it is a dedicated full-fledged, anti-virus program, which I firmly believe in having on my system, even though I have Bitdefender also running with Emsisoft. Second, McAfee LiveSafe is a full security suite with something I really want on my system, a firewall better than the one Windows provides. I get other tools included too, but I paid about $8 on Amazon for this full suite. Truthfully, McAfee doesn't have a stellar anti-virus detection reputation. That doesn't matter to me because it does the job, I don't have viruses or spyware (which it also protects against), What I have running protects me, and everyone gets along. If for some reason, Malwarebytes doesn't fix what's causing this conflict, I'm going to have to re-examine my programs. McAfee is not a great program, but for the money it works, and I can install it on all of my compatible devices for $8. Emsisoft and Adguard are not going anywhere. Emsisoft provides very good anti-Ransomware protection and Adguard provides provides ad blocking and adware/malicious site protection. It seems really strange that 3.0 would suddenly cause so many problems with my Windows Task Manager and Windows Explorer, and block or slow my other programs. If it's the anti-ransomware causing this, gives us the option of not installing it. It can remain in the Malwarebytes system folder, with the option to install later. If it's the anti-exploit, give us the same option. I'm running the latest version of Malwarebytes 2.0 version, and the latest anti-exploit, and all is running smooth. I'll wait and see, and as long as the older anti-malware is working, I'm staying put.
  6. The more I read, the more I realize many of us are having the same problems. And, many of us are Windows 7 64-bit users as well. It was more than frustrating waiting for Malwarebytes 3.0 to open or update. I'm one of those people who updates their security programs as soon as I get Internet connected. I don't wait for Malwarebytes to update on its own, I update it manually every time I turn on my computer. But, with 3.0, it was taking too long and sometimes wouldn't open at all or update. It was killing my ritual. I'm glad I wasn't the only one whose desktop would shade over white when everything locked up. This has never happened before at all. And, now it was happening every time I used my system. Though I'm not an expert, I have to believe the anti-ransomware addition is messing everything up. Your paid versions were working fine before, and my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium and free version Anti-Exploit programs were also working fine. I was aware Malwarebytes was beta testing its new anti-ransomware software, but I never downloaded it to try, since I have protection already with my Emsisoft Anti-Malware Behavior Blocker. I know many folks don't use Emsisoft, so I still believe it's something in the Malwarebytes 3.0 anti-ransomware addition. We're both frustrated, but did you try to uninstall 3.0 or do a system restore to revert back to your two previous separated programs, as I did. As I said above, I went back to my old Malwarebytes programs and my system runs great again. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium, Emsisoft, and Adguard Premium keep me safe. Malwarebytes and Adguard are both very aggressive and warn me very fast when they detect a malicious site, malware or adware. Since you're a paid customer, uninstall 3.0 and reinstall the other two again. See if your system returns to normal with Malwarebytes protecting it. Something that should be said also, and I alluded to it above...there are many folks who panic when problems like these occur. Some folks get one instance of malware or a virus, and reinstall the entire operating system. Again, a novice might not understand what's happening to their system or what could be to blame. And, some might think it's the operating system failing them. I have enough experience to try different solutions, to also be aware of recent changes in software, and how to backtrack to when things were working correctly. But, when 3.0 was killing my Windows Task Manager and Windows Explorer, I knew it was time to stop this from happening again. I maintain another PC with Windows 8.1, but I always use my computer to test new software before upgrading the other. I'm glad I didn't put 3.0 on the other one, just in case the same things started happening. An inexperienced user who upgrades to 3.0 won't know what to do. I hope you get your system back to where it was, and again, protecting you at all times.
  7. A few days ago I found out on Filehippo.com that Malwarebytes 3.0 was released and ready for download. Being a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1 Premium and Malwarebyte Anti-Exploit 1.09.1.1291 (Free) user I downloaded the new version. As expected, it removed both versions and replaced them with Malwarebytes 3.0. From that point on, my problems began. Listed are the problems I experienced with 3.0. - Very, very slow launch of 3.0 when clicked on from the Taskbar - Scan lockup using all three scan types. The scanner time continues, but the program is frozen on a file. The frozen file was different on each scan. Each time I had to cancel the scan. I was able to scan most of the time, but it froze on me at least every third scan. And, yes, I ran the scan multiple times each day to see if the problem persisted. It did. - Malwarebytes 3.0 was responsive once opened, but it nonetheless, froze at different times, "all" my other programs I opened on my desktop, most notably, my Task Manager, which upset me most. It froze my CCleaner, McAfee LiveSafe Anti-Virus Suite, Chrome, Firefox, Adguard Premium, and one that really ticked me off because it essentially killed my desktop--Malwarebytes 3.0 froze my Windows Explorer, and my only real option was a closing Windows Explorer when the small windows popped up, because it would not correct itself. Even my Start Button Search box stopped working. Once Windows Explorer was closed, my desktop went completely blank. The Task Manager did not function at all, and the only thing to do was a manual shutdown of the computer, and restart. - Each time a program froze, even the browsers, the Windows Task Manager would not open, and if by chance it did, it would not do anything. Just a couple of times, it did open after a long delay, then would attempt to close my requested program, but my screen would shade over like it was stuck between windows. I had to keep trying to close my programs manually. It's as if Malwarebytes 3.0 was stopping one program from working, and the others just got blocked one by one as I tried using them. This was very unnerving. For a novice, this must be scary. As a moderately experienced users, I was patient, vigilant, and capable of work-arounds. - This is not what I expected to happen with a program I've been using for some nine or so years. This has never happened with any other new version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, or any other program I've installed. Even my Emsisoft Anti-Malware which runs real-time, and has its own anti-ransomware, behavior blocker has never given me these problems. - Regardless, I couldn't function this way, and Malwarebytes 3.0 needed to be removed from my system until I felt it could function properly on my computer. I decided to remove it and replace it with my two previous versions of anti-malware and anti-exploit. This proved to be a challenge. Malwarebytes 3.0 did not want to uninstall, even using CCleaner's uninstall utility, and Revo Pro's Uninstaller. Something was preventing it from being removed. I couldn't change the Self-Protection setting. After three or four attempts, it finally appeared to uninstall, however the entire program's files could not be removed manually from my system. There in my system files was the Malwarebytes Folder, but it would not allow me to delete the folder because I didn't have Administrator Rights, which I do have. I went into the Safe Mode, and reinstalled 3.0 from there, then uninstalled it again, then manually removed all Mawarebytes folders. I even ran Regedit to complete remove all traces of Malwarebytes. I rebooted, reinstalled my two previous versions, Premium anti-malware and Free anti-exploit, and my system returned to normal. Or, so I thought, removing 3.0 messed up my McAfee LiveSafe Anti-Virus Suite. It was unresponsive--I could not open it at all, I could not update it, and I could not uninstall it...it was locked. I reinstalled the same version over the one on my computer, from my online account, and it returned to normal. - With Malwarebytes 3.0 removed, and the other versions reinstalled, my system runs as smooth as before. No conflicts, no freeze ups, my Task Manager loads quickly and functions properly, as does my Start Button Search box. My browsers are working just as they did before. I'm not getting any type of freeze or overlapping windows or shaded screens. All manual definition updates are working correctly. - I don't know if incorporating Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware and Anti-Exploit into the anti-malware program was too much of a conflict with itself, Windows 7, McAfee LiveSafe, Adguard Premium, or Emsisoft Anti-Malware Full Version. But, again, it was a show stopper for me. My favorite programs I rely on to protect me always are Emsisoft, Adguard, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner and the fact that I only surf the Internet using private browsing modes, and only with Chrome and Firefox. - I added this post to inform you that at least one person has had a Malwarebytes 3.0 nightmare with the upgrade. I have to believe thousands of current users of the old Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, have not upgraded, and frankly are not aware of 3.0, and are not aware of potential problems. If I'm the only person having these problems, fantastic. But, again, with moderate experience with solving problems with my system, I am well-aware of problem areas when I see or experience them. However, many have come to rely on Malwarebtyes' simple interface, no problem real-time protection, and install and forget about it program reputation. I expected the same and didn't get it. My system is currently running Amaretto smooth. I don't have malware/viruses/spyware because I constantly run scans using Malwarebytes, McAfee, Emsisoft, AdwCleaner, HitmanPro, K-TDSSKiller, and Junkware Removal Tool. - I will wait to upgrade again. I have faith in Malwarebytes and know these problems with be fixed. - For the record, I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit, and all my Microsoft Windows Monthly updates are current, as are my browsers, Adobe Flash, and all my security programs. Java is not on my system. My four security programs that run in real-time are McAfee LiveSafe Anti-Virus Suite (with Firewall), Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Emsisoft Anti-Malware, and Adguard Premium.
