  1. FYI-- I've reinstalled Windows, and things are flying as usual. No slow/sluggish issues. Granted, I still have to go through my programs and make all my settings how I want. And I haven't reinstalled Malwarebytes yet. I'm still considering whether I will install it again. But my speed is back, so I'm happy now. This ticket can be closed. btw, even though I ended up having to reinstall Windows anyway, I do appreicate your help. Do you have an account I can send you some beer money to?
  2. Hi Maurice-- Thanks again for the reply. After reinstalling Malwarebytes last night, my system again started blue screening. I couldn't even get the beta version installed. I'm also not able to get into safe mode for whatever reason--F8 is not working. (It was working only sometimes when this issue first started, and now it's not working at all.) And I can't even get into normal mode long enough to go into Settings/Advanced Startup. I am just going to reinstall Windows. I'm confident that will get whatever is causing my issue off of my system. If the slow/sluggish issue still exists after that, I think I can assume it is a hardware issue, and it was just coincidence that Malwarebytes caused the device to blue screen. Thanks again for all your help.
  3. I was almost hoping something would be found. It's a bit disappointing, because my system is still so slow and sluggish compared to before this issue started yesterday morning. I'll try re-installing Malwarebytes and updating to the beta quickly, as you suggest. I hope the bsod's don't return, because uninstalling Malwarebytes was the only way I could stop them yesterday. We'll see what happens. If the beta doesn't improve anything, unless you have any other suggestions, I'm thinking my only option is to just reinstall Windows. Thanks for all your help, btw. I know you are a volunteer, so it is doubly appreicated. 🙂
  4. When you say you'd like me to consider a new install, do you mean a new *Windows* install? I was considering that as well, though as a last resort. Here are the results from the other scans... For both powershell commands, no message displayed afterward. Though the first one did have a progress bar while it ran. As for the Microsoft Safety Scanner, I chose the Full Scan option, which is why it took so long to run. Log file is attached. msert.log
  5. I have the FRST64.exe saved in D:\Downloads\mwb. Perhaps because I have my Downloads folder on a second drive, it wasn't appearing in the previous log? I don't know. Anyway, I ran it (with the Fixlist.txt) as you explained. No reboot was required. Attached is the Fixlog.txt. Fixlog.txt
  6. Hi Maurice, Thanks so much for the reply. My name is Mike. Re uninstalling Malwarebytes: I initially used the Support tool. It went through its steps and reinstalled Malwarebytes after rebooting. My bsod persisted, so I tried to manually uninstall at that point from Windows Control Panel (not the Setting app) in Safe Mode. The uninstall seemed to hang at some point during the process (though Windows itself wasn't hung). So I gave it some time to possibly finish in the background, and then rebooted into normal mode. Malwarebytes did not load automatically like it used to (and my bsod's stopped). Though the Start Menu icon for it was still there. At this point, I ran the Support tool again and chose the option that I think is labeled "Clean Up," and chose not to reinstall when that was done. When I had downloaded the Support tool, I saved it just in my Chrome cache. But I just re-downloaded it now and saved it somewhere more accessible. I also noticed the two "threats" that Windows Defender flagged: PUA:Win32/FusionCore , PUA:Win32/CandyOpen I don't believe these are actually installed on my system. Rather, Windows Defender is flagging setup files for two programs I use once in a while. These two programs are not currently installed on my system. The files are simply the install files if I wish to install them. Though if you would prefer I remove them, I would have no problem doing so. Let me know. I do have a premium license for Malwarebytes. It was a two year license and is set to expire next month actually. However, I had a license previous to that as well. On the computer in quesiton, Malwarebytes has been installed since I first got the laptop--about two and a half years ago. As for the version number: I do recall last week installing v4.1.2. What the numbers for the other components were, I don't remember. But I had it set to automatically update (not to beta versions though). And I would also manually update every so often as well. Re ccleaner: I've disabled the task you pointed out. (Though I don't believe that was actually running ccleaner to clean.) I also had some other tasks there that I manually created, which I've disabled. (These were under the Task Scheduler folder named "Mike Tasks." In one of them, I actually called ccleaner from a batch file to clean. But, as I said, that is now disabled as well.) I also just saved the FRST64 to the same folder I had saved the Support tool.
  7. I had posted in another forum ( https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/261566-malwarebytes-removal-confirmation/ ) asking for help in making sure Malwarebytes was off of my system. Why I needed to do that is explained in the other post. Anyway, a reply there asked me to post here first to confirm I didn't have any infection on my system. I've followed the instructions here ( https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ ) to create the necessary files. The FRST and Additions files are attached. Please note that I did not include a Malwarebytes log file because I uninstalled it yesterday due to constant blue screening. I know this doesn't give you much info, but I can tell you that prior to uninstalling Malwarebytes, I had it set to run a scan everyday. And the daily scan that was run prior to uninstalling did not find any threats. Please also note that since uninstalling Malwarebytes, I did run some clean up utilities (ccleaner, Windows Disc Cleaner) trying to troubleshoot my issue. I mention this in case you ask for some logs that might still be on my system since uninstalling the software. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  8. Exile360-- Thanks for the reply. I will follow the instructions on the other page first as suggested and report back, if needed.
  9. Long story, short--starting yesterday morning, my system was very sluggish and would Blue Screen often. It got so bad, many times I couldn't even complete logging in before it would Blue Screen again. I ran scans using Malwarebytes and Windows Security, but no malware was found. I also don't recall installing anything new in the past day or so, though something could have updating in the background. Anyway, I had heard about there being possible issues between the latest version of Malwarebytes and Windows 10 v2004, both of which I had (and have had for at least a week or so). So I uninstalled Malwarebytes. I also used the Malwarebytes Support tool to clean it from my system. After doing that, the Blue Screens stopped. But my system is still *very* sluggish. The fan is running constantly, programs take longer to load or respond than usual, etc. So my question is--is there anything else I can run/do to make sure I have all traces of Malwarebytes from my system? (I do intend to try to do a reinstall of it at some point, but the underlying issue with Malwarebytes is not my point of this post--I just want to make sure that, even though I uninstalled and ran the Support tool, Malwarebytes isn't still somehow running on my system in some way.) Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I've rebooted. As you figured, the problem still exists. Attached is another set of logs, taken after the reboot. mbst-grab-results.zip
  11. I'm having the same issue. Split Tunneling does not work unless I disable MBAM's Web Protection. I also get no notification of something being blocked. Nor does adding PIA or Microsoft Edge (the application I have set to ignore the VPN) to the exclusion list in MBAM seem to make any difference. Attached are my logs using the support tool. (Note that when I took these logs, I had removed the two programs from the exclusion list, if that makes any difference.) mbst-grab-results.zip
  12. Hello-- I'm having a similar issue as the OP, but I'm not sure if it's the *same* issue. OP--is the following the issue you are having? The issue I am having with Windows Defender while Malwarebytes is installed is that when I have "Periodic Scanning" set to on in Windows Defender, it turns itself off after some time. I'm not sure the cause of this. The "Periodic Scanning" option in Windows Defender is available only when another anti-virus is installed, so I wouldn't think changing the option in Malwarebytes that exile360 alluded to would be the fix. But I don't know.
  13. Awesome! Thanks so much for the information.
  14. Thanks for the reply. I am not getting an alert pop-up when the issue occurs. Nor is there a message that the plugin/website was blocked in the Notification window. However, as I said, if I exit Malwarebytes or simply turn off the "Web Protection" toggle, the issue disappears. Please see the attached screenshots-- NoIssue.jpg was taken with "Web Protection" disabled in Malwarebytes. Issue.jpg was taken with it enabled. The window on the right labeled "Lyrics" is the one in question. I've added the exclusion you described, excluding Winamp.exe. But the issue persists. I've also added the Winamp program folder itself to the exclusion list, but the same thing happens. The only way I've been able to get the plugin to work correctly is to exit Malwarebytes completely, or turn off Web Protection.
  15. I'm not entirely sure whether this would be considered a false positive, or, if so, whether it would be considered website blocking, or something else. I use the plugin gen_lyrics.dll with Winamp. It can be downloaded from here: hxxp://www.lyricsplugin.com/. I've used it (and Malwarebytes) for years, without issue. Starting a few days ago, the plugin will no longer show lyrics if Malwarebytes is running and "Web Protection" is enabled. I do recall when first upgrading to Mawarebytes v3 a few years ago that I had to go into "Manage Protected Applications" and disable Winamp there to get Winamp to work properly then. Though I don't recall whether the issue at that time was with the entire Winamp program or the lyrics plugin. But, in any event, Winamp is still set to "off" under Protected Applications, yet I now have the plugin issue. In Malwarebytes, I've added an exclusion for my Winamp profile folder (the one is <user>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp), but that doesn't seem to make a difference. The only way to allow the plugin to work is to exit Malwarebytes completely, or disable Web Protection. Please advise. Thank you.
  16. I think this topic can be ignored. I disabled each of the MBAM protections one at a time, and the MM program continued to exit upon restart. I then yet again rebooted with MBAM set to not auto-start, and the MM program still exited. So it must have been a coincidence when the MM program remained loaded the other day when I rebooted with MBAM set to not auto-start. So it's something else on my computer causing MM to exit. Not sure how to figure that out, as there's nothing mentioned in Event Logs. But this seems to be a question for another forum. Thanks for all your help, and sorry to waste your time.
  17. This did not happen before I installed v3.5.1. And, no, I don't get any detection report from MBAM. I will give your suggestion a try and report back if it happens again.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try, but even starting MBAM from a shortcut placed into the startup folder causes the Move Mouse program to exit.
  19. I suspect Malwarebytes is causing an issue, though I am not 100% sure it is the cause, so I hope someone can help me... First, I have Windows 10 v1803 installed. And Malwarebytes v3.5.1. The issue is that I have a program installed from the Windows Store called Move Mouse. (It moves the mouse pointer between times I specify, so my screen saver won't go on.) For the last week or so, I've noticed that when it starts at boot up, after a few seconds, it then is exited. I suspect Malwarebytes might be causing it to exit because when I restarted my system a few times with Malwarebytes auto-start disabled, the Move Mouse program remained loaded. If I *manually* start the Move Mouse program, even with Malwarebytes running, it remains loaded and functions as expected. Though there comes a point where it again is exited--not sure when, I just notice in the morning that it is no longer running. However, I have never received a notification from Malwarebytes that it detected anything wrong with the Move Mouse program. I also want to point out that I've had Malwarebytes and Move Mouse installed together for over a year, and never experienced an issue until recently. Two things have changed right before the issue started... (1) I got a new computer, and had to reinstall all my software. (Though the version of Windows and the version of Move Mouse on my new computer is the same as they were on my old one.) ...and... (2) When I went to install Malwarebytes onto my new computer, the version I installed was v3.5.1, whereas on my old computer, I had the previous version installed (v3.4.?). So I don't know if the new version of Malwarebytes is somehow causing this issue, or if it's just coincidence. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Move Mouse, but I didn't fix the issue. Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.
  20. There should be a way to disable the "website blocked" notifications while leaving all other notifications allowable.
  21. I will submit a suggestion as well, but I just wanted to point out here that I agree 100% with the original poster. There should be a way to turn off all notifications regarding website blocking, while leaving the other notifications allowable.
  22. Hello-- I am a premium user. Starting yesterday (2017-11-15), Malwarebytes has been flagging the Chrome extension "SearchBar" as malware. (Labeling it PUP.Optional.SearchBar.) How can I determine whether it is actually malware or just a mistake in reporting by Malwarebytes? I am having a difficult time considering this malware, as I've been using it for many years, and there have been no recent updates to it. Yet, yesterday was the first time it was picked up as malware. Attached is my latest log, as requested from the pinned topic in this forum. (Please note that I have not quarantined any of the SearchBar files that Malwarebytes has flagged.) Thanks, Mike mwb_log_20171116_1531.txt
  23. I am having the same issue, though I am on Windows 10. I just upgraded to v3 of MWB yesterday. If I run the batch file directly (simply double click on it), it runs without issue. However, I normally run it automatically from inside of my daily backup program (Syncback Free). When it is run during these backups, MWB pops up the message and stops the batch file from running (though the Syncback backup does continue). I've added both the batch file itself and the Syncback Free program folder to the exclusions list in MWB, but the popup still occurs.
