  1. Do not upgrade over v2. But since you're past that point, uninstall v3, then use the v2 MBAM clean uninstaller to wipe away remnants (If you're unable to boot normally try Safe Mode.) If you have a licensed copy, it is advisable to "deactivate" the license PRIOR to uninstalling if you are able to get the program to run. Reboot and use CCleaner to remove MBAM registry artifacts (if any). Manually delete any MBAM related folders under: /ProgramData /Program Files /Program Files (x86) /USERNAME/AppData/Local /USERNAME/AppData/Roaming Reboot and run the v3 installer. Good luck!
  2. Check the sticky... "How to Report a New Issue"
  3. Did you uninstall v2 first? Or used the v2 clean uninstaller? I suggest those. Deactivate any license prior to using the clean uninstaller. If you're using free version, no worries.
  4. Regarding the build-up of SVI shadow files, I have a "work-around" if you need to recover drive space. CAUTION: This will remove all System Restore points I've been able to delete these files by going into... My Computer/Properties/Advanced system settings/System Protection/Configure...then "Disable System Protection" and "Apply" and "Yes" (the shadow files should disappear at this point). Then "Tum on System protection" and "Apply". Having done that, I advise creating a System Restore point. No reboot required.
  5. Good to hear. After an ultra-clean install I have few issues that won't be resolved over the next few months.
  6. Oddly, the website blocked pop-up notifications are colored green. Green is traditionally used as a "passing" color. More typically website blocked notifications should be yellow/orange/red according to severity. Not a biggie, but something to consider for coming updates.
  7. Patience. There is a large number of issues being dealt with v3 release. I would expect an update before month end, but there is no guarantee. Update notices will be posted as stickies to this board.
  8. Mr Lipman's knows that real-time scanning provides the same malware protection against malware email attachments, if and when someone unwittingly "open" such an attachment. To scan every email is wasted effort, and many A/V products that provide that capability do so awkwardly with consumer grade email programs. Know too that Mr Lipman began his forum involvement here with a post count of one, so if it pleases him to bash others who lack his posting level and who choose to express their 'net life in different ways, so be it.
  9. That's far too long for the Threat Scan. With 351 threats, it seems you have a malware issue and should use the forum for that. More info here...
  10. Whoa. Why would you do that? Email scanning by your A/V program is ill-advised and does little other than bog down the email client. But if that's why you want an email program, have at it.
  11. The basic scan should take minutes (10 max) unless you have a prehistoric machine. Surely after an hour something is terribly wrong and Task Manager can help you see there is CPU/Disk activity related to the scan.
  12. Might send this to VirusTotal. Could be a false positive.
  13. @1PW Thanks for the link. For unknown reasons that test failed, (2 of 5) but my (0 of 14) experience was excellent. I also watched cruelsister1's youtube evaluation, My takeaway was to harden my system with Comodo Firewall's auto-sandbox capability.
  14. Put MBAM up against RanSim today and scored a perfect 0/14 vulnerabilities.without Ransomware Protection module (I'll leave the strenuous testing to cruelsister). v3.0.5; Win 8.1-64; A/V disabled.
  15. @MarkBevan Installing 3 over 2 brings with it many problems. I suggest deactivating your license, then uninstalling followed by the v2 clean removal tool. Then reboot, and remove any residuals in /ProgramData, /Program Files, /Program Files (x86). It wouldn't hurt to check /AppData/Local and /AppData/Roaming as well. Reboot again and run CCleaner for any leftover registry entries. Then run the v3 installer, and cross fingers (or cross fingers and run the v3 installer... I'm not sure which is better).
  16. If you have proof of purchase, contact MB consumer support and they will sort things out for you.
  17. Contact consumer support and ask if they will allow you to return the exploit licenses. Since it's been some time since September, perhaps they would pro-rate a refund.
  18. An email to support should fix things up. Although if you don't mind the hassle, you may be able to reinstall v3 and find that it recognizes your license auto-magically. If so, you can formally deactivate it.
  19. Did you have self-protection enabled? If so, try reinstalling 3.0.5 and then disable self-protection... followed by uninstalling.
  20. ICBW, but I believe you are misinterpreting the recovery scan time. IIRC, setting it at 1 hour means that if a scheduled 6 AM scan is missed (PC off, for example), the scan will continue to me triggered over the recovery period. For example, with Recovery set at 1 hour, that means up until 7 AM. If you turn on your PC at 8 AM no scan will occur. For example... my scan is set for 2 AM. Often I have the PC off at this time. My Recovery time is set at 23 hours. So when I start my PC at 9 AM, the scan commences almost immediately. Previously I set Recovery at 1 hour and I seldom had missed scans run. I'm sure someone will correct me, but in doing so please explain why my missed scan is happening in the time frame I see with recovery at 23 hours.
  21. Eicar was discussed on another thread. Suffice it to say, Eicar is not a threat and MBAM did not respond. MBAM is an alternate to AV. It is NOT AV. Nothing wrong though with running it alongside AV.
