  1. Hi, Since AdwCleaner is portable, which means it doesn't get installed, you can safely remove the old executable (7.4.0) and download the new release from https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ . The upgrade module in 7.4.0 and 7.4.1 is broken and it's not possible to update AdwCleaner from the executable itself. You need to manually download it. We'll solve the issue in 7.4.2. Thanks!
  2. Oh ok, I missunderstood. Thanks for reporting, we'll fix the issue in 7.4.2.
  3. Hi, Please, download the new 7.4.1 version from https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ Let us know if you run into any other issue. Thanks!
  4. Hi @Stepan_, Can you zip the quarantine folder and send it? You can send me the file in a private message if you prefer. Thanks!
  5. Hi @Trevorr444, It would help us a lot if you could share the debug log file. To enable it, go to settings panel and enable "Mode" setting (top left corner). Then, scan and clean with AdwCleaner, and send us the AdwCleaner_Debug.log file that you'll find in C:\AdwCleaner\Logs\ . Thnaks!
  6. @PureCode, wouldn't you remember by any chance which Adware/Preinstalled families were cleaned?
  7. Hi @Wittmann, Can you share the scan and cleaning log files? You will fin them in "C:\AdwCleaner\Logs". Thanks!
  8. Hi @Gary R, The quarantine button is greyed out until the scan/cleaning it's completely finished and you've closed the scan/clean results panel. Same for the settings, you won't be able so change some settings until the scan/clean is finished. Thanks!
  9. Hi @rexbinary, It's definitely an FP. We'll fix it for the next release. Meanwhile, you can exclude it as @exile360 suggested. If the right click doesn't work, you can exclude it from the Exclusions panel (in "Settings" menu). Thanks!
  10. We're working on a solution to minimize as much as posible system restarts after the cleaning, but it's not yet implemented. So, yes, we always recomend to restart your computer.
  11. I'm sorry, my mistake. The correct URL is: https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwarebytes-news/2019/07/your-device-your-choice-adwcleaner-now-detects-preinstalled-software/ Thanks!
  12. Hello, Please refer to this blogpost to learn more about those detection and to get help about whether or not you want to keep them: https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwarebytes-news/2019/07/your-device-your-choice-adwcleaner-now-detects-preinstalled-software/ Also note that in case of removal, it is still possible to restore them from the quarantine: https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-3328 Thanks!
  13. Hi @mbyuser, Could you export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\ registry key and share it? Thanks!
  14. Hi, Don't remove it, it's a false positive. It might've been a threat in the past but it isn't anymore. We'll push a new database update in a few minutes to remove it. Thanks
  15. I'm glad to hear that! Don't hesitate to post any other AdwCleaner related issue or feedback. Thanks!
  16. Hi @Promethea, Did you reboot after disabling SmartScreen? If not, please reboot the computer, check that smart screen is disabled ("Off" option selected) and then try to run AdwCleaner. If the problem persist, follow these steps: 1. Remove any previously downloaded AdwCleaner file and download the latest AdwCleaner version from https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ 2. If there's any antimalware software running on the computer, please disable it and run AdwCleaner. Don't forget to enable it again. 3. If you still get the error, start windows in safe mode and run AdwCleaner. To start windows in safe mode, follow the steps described here, under the "From settings" section. Let us now if this solved the issue. Thanks!
  17. hm... I don't see any TheBrightTag detection in the debug log file. Instead, it shows new detections. Did you manually (or with another software) remove TheBrightTag items, or were they cleaned with adwCleaner? Thanks!
  18. Hi, It looks like the logs are not being turned on for you, so you may have to enable the "Debug mode" in the Settings menu before cleaning in order to get this logfile (see picture below): After that, please clean again and share the log file. You'll find it in C:\AdwCleaner\Logs\AdwCleaner_Debug.log Thanks!
  19. Hi @SallyMO When you run bootrec /rebuildbcd command, waht is the output? Does it find any Windows installation ( Total identified Windows installations: 1 )?
  20. Can you share debug log file and cleaning log file? Thanks!
  21. Hi @Krrungys, Did you solve your problem? If not, can you share the cleaning log file? Thanks!
  22. Hi, Yes, you can safely remove all threads. s.thebrighttag.com is known to be an adware that shows popups and changes your browser settings. It can slow down your computer's performance. Thanks!
  23. Hi @jraju, Can you share the application log file? (C:\AdwCleaner\Logs\AdwCleaner_Debug.log). If you don't find it, then you should enable the log module in the settings panel: After enabling it, please scan and clean C:\Program Files\ByteFence again and send us the log file. Also, does the folder contain any file? Or, instead, it's empty? Thanks!
  24. Thanks for the video @Tarun, but I still need the log file please. It will give us more information on how the buttons behave. Thanks
