  1. I see at present that Bitdefender is leading the pack in Antivirus protection and is being heavily promoted after winning its latest 'Best Award'.

I would like to know what is MWB doing to rival Bitdefender and why MWB lags behind the likes of Norton as well. I have been a staunch user of MWB and have a lifetime licence and because I don't go to dodgy sites so  I don't get compromised. I execute good email practices and have done so since before Xp and the first Macs. When reading comparisons it seems that always the competitor is ahead in what it does. I did some research comparing MWB to latest Bitdefender  today and there is a marked difference in favour of Bitdefender. I have been a staunch user and loyal to MWB and for once would like MWB to come out on top and have all the review sites and pundits creaming them selves over how wonderful MWB is. Is that something we can look forward to or am I just shooting in the wind.? Does the management of MWB really care? Who knows......

  2. Hi Chris,

Did as you asked and did complete uninstall. I then rebooted then ran full scan and nothing showed up. Great result. Next I downloaded Epic latest version and installed it. Ran it by going to a bona fide site  then closed application. Ran MB full scan and it was clean with none of the items I reported. Rebooted and repeated, no issues.

So with all your help 'exile360', 'vbarytsky', and 'screen317' you seem to have got to the bottom of the issue. Many thanks for your time, Cheers

Should I need to do anything else let me know.

  3. I have recently updated one of my Acer PC to latest win10. As has been reported by many MS has disabled SMB 1which was the backdoor for wannacry.

So until the last update I could see my 2 macs and all files therein showing up on my Network. After reading on these forums, am I correctly assuming that by the mere fact that MB is active on my Acer that I can reinstate SMB 1, 2 or 3 and regain my connectivity and sharing with my macs on my enclosed system.?

Would I still be vulnerable as I am always connected to internet? I do maintain good practice such not going to krap sites or any of those sites that are well reported to be vulnerable.

    Thanks

  5. I often look at the scan results reports and always see the following 3 items that have been blocked. One I know what it is but have no idea what the others are.

The first that comes up that is blocked is from my TPlink extender.........tplinkextender.net

Why is tplinkextender trying to call home and should I make an exception and allow?

    Second, ........download.wifimaster.tech.........Who is this?

Thirdly.........uninstallmalwaretips.com..........Who is this? When I try to go to this site to investigate (safely of course all shields up) MB always blocks an says 'malicious site'.

So where would I find this....uninstallmalwaretips.com.....on my clean Win10 Acer.

Interestingly I do not have these issues on my Macs

Any guidance and help would be most appreciated,

    Thanks

  6. For some reason I am getting this exclusion / prevention message..........download.wifimaster.tech:49681.......and MB blocks it from running.

I have been helped by Firefox and Porthos and re installed MWB and have the FRST and Addition items to be checked and was advised I should post them here based on their advice below:

    Quote:

I would have you post in the malware removal section just to get things "cleaned" up a bit. Just re-post the FSRT and Addition.txt logs there.

Not saying your infected but they are allowed to run tools in that section that I am not allowed to do here.

    End quote.

I have since reinstalled MWB with the latest version 3.1.2

    Thoughts please,

    Michael

    FRST.txt

    Addition.txt

  7. Further update, I have downloaded the latest version 3.1.2 and reapplied my licence and it seem to be working a treat.

I shall monitor the anomaly and report back to see if it reappears again. Just have to see if i have the exclusions i had added

somewhere. If not, its not the end of the world.

Let me know your thoughts please and advice please,

    Many thanks, Michael

  8. For some reason I am getting this exclusion / prevention message..........download.wifimaster.tech:49681.......and MB blocks it from running

I am using Win10 (Acer laptop) latest with no junk programmes loaded. Mostly use it for emails. I have tried searching but to no avail.

I have did buy  Samsung galaxy 7 a few months ago and have linked it to the PC with Air Droid to transfer a couple of ringtones but that's it.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

  9. Thanks for reply. I have a few questions regards the settings and need to confirm these are correct. In MAW 'Advanced settings'  all are checked except for "Enable self protection module and greyed out "Enable self protection early start".

I also have the 'Delay Protection at startup for 15 seconds'......should I check or uncheck ??

Also in MAE Premium ....'Shields' section / column I have activated (locked padlock) on all the items that were listed that could not be 'locked' in the 'Free Version. Subsequently having paid up I can now lock them. Is this the correct procedure?

    Many thanks,

  10. New to the forums as of today......

I now have full protection on this new win10 PC and am not sure if protection is enabled automatically based on the following criteria. Once I have set up, installed, entered licenses etc do I need (once PC has been booted) to open each of the programmes to ensure protection.? For example without my intervention MAE is always running and should I wish to disable' I just click 'Stop protection'. Does MAM and MAR require my intervention to run. (ie Open and Close). Of course I would have to open MAM to carry out a scan etc but I 'DO' have the 'Malware and Malicious website' buttons in 'enable' mode checked anyway.

    Guidance appreciated,
