  1. Thanks for getting back. I shall be following your advice in the near future but wonder whether it is a good or bad idea to make an Acronis True Image of my entire system seeing the apparnt mess it is currently in. May I ask you what you would do in similar circumstances please? Best wishes, westonmale
  2. Thanks to all contributors for sticking with me on this problem I have now ran a full chkdsk which took a little over 3 hour including 75 minutes on verifying file data and 100 minutes on verifying free space. In the process,I noticed a number of items where" Windows was replacing bad clusters" and I could reproduce the data here if it will help including being of assistance to others who may experience similar difficulties in the future. Following the chkdsk, I tried scanniing my system again. An initial Quick Scan completed in 12 minutes with no malicious objects being recorded.I then immediately tried a Full Scan only to get another BSOD ( Kernel_Data etc.) after just 6 minutes. Following suggestions made above,I believe I should next try out a SURFACE SCAN followed by a MEMORY TEST .Unfortunately I am not familiar with either and would appreciate a few words on what steps are involved please. Best wishes, westonmale
  3. Firstly, thanks to all contributors trying to help me. Norton Internet Security 2010 is my only real time installed security software. I do sometimes run SuperAntiSpyware which picks up stray bits from time to time. I wonder whether there is something wrong in the inner workings of my PC but then i cannot really understand why I do not exprience the BSOD other than when I try to run Malwarebytes.
  4. Haqve just run Full Scan with Norton Int Security turned off.It lasted seven minutes before getting BSOD with the following information:- Following a further reboot i had a similar screen to the one in my first posting i.e."Checking file system on C :Verifying Files followed by indexes etc. Sorry to be such a nuisance. Thanks, westonmale
  5. Thank you. Will try with Norton off as suggested and get back in touch. Cheers.
  6. Windows Shut Down to prevent Damage. In early October,contributors:GT500;srtools1980y and swagger kindly offered me sound advice on trying to eradicate a problem that I was experiencing in having a blue screen appear telling me that
  7. Thank you swagger, exactly what i required.Job done. Cheers, westonmale
  8. Thaank you . I am now running both SP3 and IE8. I have followed the advice on reinstallation as described earlier and have since run two Quick scans without their being stopped abruptly as previously experienced.Hopefully I shall have the same joy when running a full scan to its completion. I have Norton Internrt Security 2009 installed on my system but unfortunately cannot find the exclusions list so that I may add the files as suggeted byGT500. Many thanks, westonmale
  9. Thank you very much for both responses. I shall follow the advice re the reinstalling of the programme and let you know how i get along. With regard to my reluctance in updating to SP3,I recall a problem back in May 2008 when having installed SP3 I was presented with a message stating that Internet Explorer 7 had encountered a problem and needed to close.Only when I was able to remove SP3 could I gain access and successfully remove IE7.Restarting the p.c. confirmed that IE6 was running as the default browser."Computerworld"on 6th May,2008, advised tht Microsoft users then updating to SP3 would not be able to downgrade from IE7 to IE6 without uninstalling the service pack beforehand. Thanks again, westonmale
  10. Please kindly excuse any error but as my question covers both topics ,I am unsure whether this post should be included in the General Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or the P.C.forum. I have recently been experiencing a problem whenever I run a Anti-malware Full or Quick scan. After a few minutes, my p.c. will shut down and a blue screen will appear advising that:
