@AdvancedSetup check but the last post could be SPAM

Personally, for Safari, I would recommend Ka-Block! available for free on the Mac AppStore because it has no privilege whatsoever. It works well and so far it has not given me any problems

As I specified above, I have no intention or test of Catalina's beta right now (I wanted to do it all summer long, at my own risk and danger), nor to install MWB on it. Mine was a simple question to program the Catalina installation, once released to the public, choosing between:
- just released as MWB is already compatible
- wait, since MWB is not yet compatible I would not have a secure system.I hope my position is clear now
As I wrote above to 1PW in recent years a version compatible with the new macOS was released around the end of August.

I remember you posting that you were testing Catalina 10.15.
In truth I only tested the first public beta for about ten days then I gave up
8 minutes ago, 1PW said:... I also remember @treed posting that Malwarebytes for Mac would not install on a Catalina powered system.
In truth @treed published that news at the time of Catalina's first public beta on June 28th. The times have changed and we are less than ten days before the presentation and about twenty days from the release and that's why I asked the question because in the last years a compatible version was released around the end of August.

I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Mine was a simple question.

I wanted to ask if MWB version 3.9.27 is already compatible with Catalina or if a new version will be released soon.
I state that I don't use the beta but I'm interested to know it to decide whether to upgrade as soon as Catalina is made public or wait. -
Thanks a lot. Now I read it.
I often look at the @treed blog page but I haven't seen it yet.

I asked this question because I thought that, like extensions for Firefox & Chrome, if I'm not mistaken, it also used a detection based on the behavior of web pages.

I searched and read this article (today, when at least in Italy, the news became public knowledge), from Google Project Zero blog, regarding iOS flaws closed with the update 12.1.4
I wanted to know if, using Malwarebytes for iOS web protection, the iOS user was protected by websites created to exploit these flaws.
Thank you
Greetings

To check if you have malware installed you can install the free version of Malwarebytes and get a premium trial for a few days Link to download.
You can install if you want, for free from the Mac AppStore, Ka-block! to block unwanted ads.If you only use Safari there is no other web protection at the moment
If instead you use Chrome or Firefox you can download from the respective stores the beta of the Malwarebytes extension (but remember that are always a beta) -
TRANSLATION OF THE YELLOW UNDERLINED PHASE (performed with Google Translator)
"Ka-Block!" does not have the privileges necessary to read or transmit content from any web page
This extension has never given me any problems
-
From my personal experience, on MacOS it is sufficient to have Malwarebytes.
If you use Safari, you can add Ka-Block! downloadable from the Mac AppStore as an ad-blocker, waiting for the Malwarebytes extension; if you use Chrome or Firefox, the beta of the Malwarebytes extension is already present in the respective stores (they are beta then still in the development phase).
If you do that you are perfectly protected, in my opinion. -

Ok.
Thanks for the confirmation. Time 0 and become a hidden purchase for me -
It is necessary to re-download from the site version 3.9.27 which solved problems of excessive slowness in the boot (which in any case did not affect all mac / all versions of macOS)
-
@treed It is also blocked by the Real-Time App-Block Protection of Malwarebytes this Safari Extension. [hxxps://apps[.]apple[.]com/it/app/itl-web-safe/id1462734706?l=en&mt=12]
I would like to know if even in this case it is a false positive as it should be a web protection (to be used temporarily, if secure, while waiting for your Web Protection for Safari and macOS in general).
Thanks
Have a nice day

Malwarebytes also exists for Android available on PlayStore. I use it and find any problem.
Here the link to the support page
Open this link from your smartphone to download it
I hope I was helpful

After testing several intermediate versions I have now installed the latest stable version for two days.
Everything is ok.
Congratulations to all the staff for the hard work done in finding this difficult bug. ThanksPS: The performance factor can certainly be the cause, at least for me. In fact, I have a MacBook Pro 9.2 (Mid 2012) which, even if it has never had any problems so far, is starting to have its age.
-
Personally I have never had problems with Malwarebytes newsletters, not even with the latest ones; the last one arrived a couple of days ago worked perfectly and all the links opened correctly. I use Mail, Safari, macOS 10.14.6 with additional update

@AdvancedSetup please move this post in Windows malware forum
-
From what you write I assume you are using the Windows version (In fact, Rootkit protection concerns the windows version) in which case the post must be moved to the specific forum for that operating system.
Can you confirm? -
Thanks to you, @treed , and all the staff
-
I do not think so because I do not have it and the problems are equally true.
I only have Ka-Block! like Extension-App and Malwarebytes and nothing else -

But relatively older, correct?
It is true, my MacBook Pro (9,2) is not very young as it is a mid 2012 but it is still considered compatible with Catalina; I would expect similar behavior from macs that are no longer compatible even with Mojave
not to mention that in post # 16 @treed says he failed to replicate the problem even in the old mac

added personal experience
If you use an old version of Malwarebytes for macOS, see the threats that are being searched and not the ones present on your Mac. You should update to version 3.9.27 (the last one) where the number of checked items appears only more
at least this happens to me
So it doesn't scare us anymore
