  1. Unfortunately at least as I understand it, the problem with the status indicator color entry was that it was only as accurate as the rate of the 'heartbeat' of the clients checking in with the server, which by default they do on a set interval that isn't anywhere near 'real-time' as I recall, so even though it may have proven accurate when pinged or queried in your environments, that does not mean that it was any more accurate or up to date than the current detail provided about the endpoints. With that said, there might be some way to tweak this behavior to provide a viable solution/middle ground that might provide something closer to what you are seeking with the status indicator color item, however that's entirely up to the Product team and Developers as they must balance performance (and of course not DDoS'ing the server with constant check-in pings from the clients/endpoints) with timely and accurate reporting for these functions.
  2. Hey guys, just FYI, I've tested with the latest betas and unfortunately this is still occurring so I've rolled back to the MB3 RTM build for the time being until this gets sorted because I gotta have my Web Protection
  3. Greetings, Going forward, if you should come across any site which you believe to be malicious that is not being blocked by Malwarebytes and you would like it analyzed by the Malwarebytes Research team for possible inclusion in the Malwarebytes Web Protection and Malwarebytes Browser Guard databases so that they will block it in the future, then please create a new topic in this area by following the instructions found in this pinned topic and a member of the Malwarebytes web Research team will take a look. I hope this helps address your concerns, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know. Thanks
  4. You're welcome If there's anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to post
  5. That is the hard part, as any program with a UI that allows changing the font could be at fault, however since it is the local copy that you downloaded, and not the copy actually installed in your system folder this makes me suspect that it was simply Windows itself blocking access to the file for some reason, be it a permissions anomaly or because it was in the process of installing it or something similar. Either way it doesn't sound like anything malicious and was more than likely just a quirk in Windows' behavior.
  6. Greetings, If you mean malware that specifically spreads through networks directly (not the internet) such as network worms, yes, it should. If you mean malware stored on a networked drive, then no, it does not, only because the way that permissions work in Windows for networked resources does not allow Malwarebytes to have the full read/write/delete privileges necessary to do so, however if such a threat were executed from a networked drive and tried to infiltrate the local system to install itself/become active, then that should be detected and blocked by Malwarebytes as soon as the threat tries to launch in memory on the local system. If you were referring to something else please let us know and we will do our best to respond. Thanks
  7. Did you actually install the font prior to deciding to remove it, and was the .TTF file you were trying to remove located in the system's Fonts folder, or was it the original copy you'd saved to your Downloads folder or desktop etc.? If it was a copy in the Fonts folder then it could simply be that some application which uses fonts was locking it from being deleted because the application had a function which allows you to switch fonts (for example, a word processing application such as MS Word etc.) and so perhaps a system restart would be required to remove it, or perhaps simply locating the process that has the system fonts loaded and terminating it so that it isn't locking the currently install fonts from being removed. That's just speculation on my part, but based on the scenario you describe, that would seem to be one likely cause of an issue like this.
  8. OK, I just confirmed it, the issue is back. Oddly it did not recur until a second topic was moved from the MB3 support area and perhaps it is because I was a participant in the initial thread that was moved that caused it not to occur for me initially. As you can see below, the MB3 support area is bold/bright indicating that it contains at least one unread topic: However, I made sure that I read every topic, including clicking each of the redirected/moved thread links just in case that was the issue (I added the question marks to the image to highlight them, obviously):
  9. Greetings, Just to clarify the issue with accounts. A Malwarebytes account is not the same thing as a license/subscription, and you can have an active subscription/license without having a Malwarebytes account. What the account refers to is signing up at My.Malwarebytes.com with your email in order to have a new way of managing your Malwarebytes licenses and products if you have any, which makes it easier for monitoring your license status across multiple devices/subscriptions as well as deactivating a license on any of your licensed devices to move your license from an existing device to a new one (if for example you had a Malwarebytes subscription active on one of your PCs and then replaced that PC and wanted to move your subscription over to a new PC to protect it instead). Additional information about the My Account feature at My.Malwarebytes.com can be found in this support article, this support article, and this support article. I hope that helps to clarify things a bit. With regards to getting your subscription cancelled and the payment for your most recent renewal refunded please refer to the helpful replies above from the other members as well as the information in this support article. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we might assist you with, and if you haven't heard back from Malwarebytes Support after creating a support ticket as mentioned above by the others within the next 2~3 days please let us know and we will alert a member of the Malwarebytes staff to investigate your ticket and assist you. Thanks
  10. Excellent, hopefully the issue is resolved, but definitely let us know if it is not, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks
  11. You're welcome, I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help to you. Yes, I suspect that given how popular ad blockers and privacy extensions are becoming, that it is only a matter of time before websites begin to use different tactics rather than relying strictly on ad revenue and visitor data collection. In fact, even Google, one of the worst offenders when it comes to mass data collection, tracking, targeted advertising and social manipulation is preparing to provide a means to better obfuscate browser traffic in order to protect users' privacy on the web; and as the article I linked mentions, so is Mozilla, the makers of Firefox. That is not to say that I necessarily trust Google of all entities to cease their bad habits since after all that is how they generate the vast majority of their revenue and traffic, but at least it is a step in the right direction and a sign that these companies and browser makers are paying attention to the public outcry for better privacy on the net.
  12. Greetings, A new component update is available which should resolve this issue. Please open Malwarebytes and navigate to Settings>Application and click on the Install Application Updates button and allow Malwarebytes to download and install the update. Once that is done, restart your system if prompted to do so and test to see if the issue is resolved with all protection components active. Please let us know how it goes and if the issue still persists or not. Thanks
  13. Greetings, Unfortunately unless the pop-ups happen to be ads or are hosted on blocked servers they probably won't be blocked by Malwarebytes Browser Guard, however you are more than welcome to try visiting the site with Malwarebytes Browser Guard enabled to see if it makes any difference. With that said, I have seen some browser extensions designed to block things like persistent pop-ups and auto-playing videos on websites, however having tried several myself I can tell you first-hand that they seldom work very well, at least based on the sites I've tried to have them block similar videos on. There is another option however, and that would be to use something that allows selectively blocking individual content on the websites you visit such as uBlock Origin or Adblock Plus, both of which should have this capability (in fact I use uBlock Origin myself and just tested it on the site you mentioned and I was able to create a rule to block videos from playing on the site, though I'm not sure that it worked for all of their videos and it might only block for individual videos or videos hosted on particular servers and they possibly use several meaning you may need to block multiple videos for it to finally block all of them. I couldn't find a way to generically block all videos on the site, but perhaps if I got more creative I might be able to find a more robust solution (such as blocking all of their video streaming servers via HOSTS file entries or custom IP block entries in the Windows Firewall), however since I don't really frequent news sites and I don't live in the UK I don't really have a need to go to all that trouble, but perhaps this information might help you in finding your own custom solution. I'm sorry that I couldn't be more helpful, but I hope that at least some of the information and suggestions I provided will prove useful to you somehow.
  14. Interesting, I just checked and I actually didn't have the issue with that moved topic. The MB3 area still shows as read, however I had viewed that topic prior to it being moved so that could be why. However in the past, that wouldn't have made a difference and it still would have shown the area as still having unread content even if the moved topic had already been viewed so at least some aspect of this issue has been fixed.
  15. It really depends on what the file is and what is actually blocking the file from being deleted. That message could mean that it is simply a permissions issue, that it is being analyzed by your antivirus, or that it is being run under one of your system processes. You can try booting into Safe Mode to see if it can be deleted there, but otherwise it might require special tools to remove the file. You could also try a file deletion tool such as Malwarebytes' own FileASSASSIN, however without knowing exactly what the file is and where it came from, I can't make any definite recommendations as removing any critical system file could result in serious issues, including potentially rendering your system unbootable and the same is true if the file is some form of deeply entrenched malware threat, as many infections will install themselves in such a way that if they are not removed in a specific way it could do damage to the system in the process of being removed. If you suspect that the file in question may be an active infection then please follow the instructions in this topic and then create a new topic in the malware removal area by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you in checking and cleaning your system of any threats. I hope this helps, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know. Thanks
  16. Greetings, You should find the information in this support article to be helpful, however if you still have trouble then please contact Malwarebytes Support directly by filling out the form on the bottom of this page. I hope this helps, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know. Thanks
  17. Greetings, This thread is about ADWCleaner, not Malwarebytes, detecting Winzip Smart Monitor, so that would likely explain why up until recently Malwarebytes showed no detections on your system. If you perform a scan with ADWCleaner I bet it would likely detect it. It is usually the case that Malwarebytes and ADWCleaner detect different things from one another, though there is occasionally overlap (they use different detection techniques and separate Research teams to create their detection signatures/definitions and use somewhat different criteria for determining what they will and will not detect). If you wish to see if ADWCleaner detects anything you can find it here. If you require assistance with checking your system for threats then please follow the instructions in this topic and then create a new topic on the malware removal area by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you with checking and clearing your system of any remaining threats. I hope this helps, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know. Thanks
  18. Greetings, It sounds like it is most likely some kind of idle task and/or conditional scheduled task executing in the background and when you launch Task Manager (or likely any other new active/primary process) the background task subsides until the system is in an idle state again. When this occurs, are you seeing any network/bandwidth usage by any chance? The reason I ask is because it is possible that it is something like Windows Update running in the background when the system isn't active. Another possibility would be something like the built in search indexer or an antivirus if you're using a third party AV that perhaps performs a background scan whenever the system is idle (Kaspersky has a function like this and I believe a few other AVs do as well).
  19. Greetings, You purchased 2 licenses for 2 years. This means that you may have the software installed on up to 2 devices at a time. The '0 of 2' available devices means that both of your installs are already in use. You can move your license from one of your devices to a new device at any time by deactivating one of them, either in the 'My Account' tab in Malwarebytes on one of your current devices and then installing and activating it on a new device or by using the deactivate function at My.Malwarebytes.com to deactivate it from one of your existing devices so that you can install and activate it on a new device. You can find further details about managing your licenses in this support article, this support article, as well as this support article. I hope this helps, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know. Thanks
  20. Greetings, Thank you for reporting this issue. I will be sure to inform the Product team about the issues you experienced. Thank you for testing the beta and please let us know if you have any further issues or feedback. Thanks
  21. Greetings, It sounds like your system is probably infected with some kind of malware. Please do your best to follow the instructions in this topic and then create a new topic in our malware removal area by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will help you to check and clean your system of any remaining infections which should allow you to get Malwarebytes installed and working again. Good luck, and if there is anything else we might help you with please let us know. Thanks
  22. You're welcome, and by the way, the scanning probably seems a bit fast due to Developer optimizations in the engine. They keep the archive handling/7Zip components up to date with the latest patches/releases and have done a LOT of work on the scan engine in general to optimize its performance. Chief among these is the excellent multithreading of the scan engine which will take full advantage of multicore CPUs as well as multithreading/SMT (Simultaneous Multi-Threading, or what Intel refers to as 'HyperThreading'), so if you've got a multi-core chip with SMT it's going to massively improve your scan times as well as archive extraction and analysis. You can see this in action first-hand if you launch a normal Threat scan with Malwarebytes and watch the Performance tab in Task Manager. You should see heavy usage across all cores/threads while the scan is going on. I was employed by Malwarebytes at the time this work was first started on the scan engine and spent countless hours testing various tweaked builds to find the right combination of multi-threading and other single-threaded optimizations and disk I/O performance tweaks to find the fastest, best performing version of the scan engine possible. We tested a lot of builds and the lead Developer for the scan engine at the time put a ton of effort and skill into finding just the right balance of resource usage and speed that resulted in one of the fastest scanners ever, and with later enhancements through the use of newer tech such as disk caching (which helps immensely with subsequent scans during the same Windows session making all scans faster than the first), it's even better than it's ever been even though the engine itself and the threat signatures it uses are far more complex. It's a very powerful piece of tech and the Developers deserve a lot of credit for making it perform so fast while still analyzing data so extensively.
  23. Yes, because it counts the entire archive as a single object, again, because it doesn't 'disinfect' archives, it removes the entire archive if malicious contents are found within. It is the same with installers and other archive types like 7ZIP files and RAR archives.
  24. Malwarebytes extracts and scans the contents of ZIP archives, however it doesn't 'disinfect' them, so if anything malicious is detected within an archive, it marks the entire archive as malicious and will quarantine the entire archive if you have Malwarebytes remove the threat. If you want to only remove individual files that might be malicious within an archive then you should first extract it to a folder, then scan the folder with Malwarebytes.
