  1. I fixed it myself by uninstalling my device while the USB cable was plugged in, then unplugging the USB cable from my computer, connecting to the internet, then plugging the USB cable into my computer. Jeff
  2. Hello Yoan, No malware issues. Other questions are posted in General Windows PC Help section . Thank you, Jeff
  3. Hello, My laptop doesn't recognize my Samsung S4 android device through the USB cable. It is charging the device, but I also want data transfer, so that I can transfer my images to my laptop. This function has worked in the past but was disabled sometime during the recent fix of my Windows 7 Home Premium problem. Please advise. Thanks, Jeff
  4. Hello Yoan, I have deleted the files per your instructions. I reinstalled my printer setup successfully. However, my laptop doesn't recognize my Samsung S4 android device through the USB cable. It is charging the device, but I also want data transfer, so that I can transfer my images to my laptop. This function was disabled sometime during the fix of my problem. Earlier, you stated you might be able to help with this issue. Please advise. Thanks, Jeff
  5. Hello Yoan, Thank you. Today, I got notice from an automatic update of iTunes that it failed due to insufficient C disk space, and Disk Cleanup popup said it can free up to 1.9 GB on C: disk. I would ordinarily do this without question, but I thought best to ask you if it is ok to do, given all this work to solve my problem. I have 113 mb free space on C disk now before deleting the files listed in your latest post. Jeff
  6. Hello Yoan, Files remaining are: HitmanPro x64 3.7, eXplorer.exe, JunkwareRemovalTool.exe, FixTool64.exe, spsetup129.exe, Speccy64.exe, uSeRiNiT.exe, iExplore.exe, esetonlinescanner_enu.exe, Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu, GrantPerms64, a number of text files and log files, and quarrantine folders and files. Also, I ran Secunia, and two of eight needing updates are Microsoft SQL Server 2003 Compact Edition, and Microsoft XML Core Services MSXML 4.x. I don't know what these programs are, and I am wondering if they can be uninstalled or deleted without affecting some other programs or processes. Thanks, Jeff
  7. Hi Phil, Thanks for your reply and help. My malware helper, Aura, posted on the Malware Removal for Windows forum a bunch of recommendations and suggestions, including Delfix, as a first step. I have since run Delfix and copied the results in my reply on that forum. I noticed your snowblower - the time is coming soon here too in Wisconsin! Jeff
  8. Hello Yoan, Here is the Delfix results. I noticed that some of the program files are still installed. 9. Hello, My Windows 7 problem on my laptop was recently fixed with the great help of the Malware Removal for Windows forum on this site, and the earlier attempts by the Microsoft Community site. Now, I have many files that were used in this fix on my hard drive. I'm asking which files I should retain, and which I should delete. I can provide a list if wanted. Thanks, Jeff
  10. Thanks Yoan, you have been a great help. I will await your recommendation on the anti virus, and for my mobile device. The Samsung rep at BestBuy is the person who suggested MBAM to me about a year ago for my laptop, but also said nothing is needed for my S4 phone. None on my phone doesn't make sense so that is why I asked you. The FlashPlayer update is unknown to me. I might get the notice again and I will ask your advise then. I used to get a popup about a scrip is busy, and seemed to slow the webpage refresh speed too. See attached screenshot. It happened for a long time only on this particular webpage shown in the screenshot (jsonline.com) attached until I uninstalled FlashPlayer. Is there some connection there? If you assist there, I'll be sure to check out Sysnative. Thanks, Jeff A script on this page may be busy Doc1.docx
  11. Hello Yoan, OK startup to login, no messages popped up. Thank you much for 17 days of work. I have a number of questions, if you can answer for me, or advise me where to get the answers. They are: MBAM is installed on my laptop. Is the Free Ed. ok for my use? How often should I manually run a scan? What anti-virus program do you recommend I use? What protection do you recommend for my Samsung S4 android phone? A while ago you posted to me that you might help solve my USB-connected-not-recognized-by-Windows-problem. Please help. Can I delete all the files produced by the programs you asked me to run, as well as the programs Microsoft Community asked me to run for fixing this problem? Can I download FlashPlayer update? Is Win 10 Upgrade really reserved still for me? Do you recommend I upgrade to Win 10? In my post about 9 hours ago, (see my post), I got a message that my computer had a failure configuring updates and was reverting the changes. Attached are screenshots of failed updates and of updates available. Please advise. Again, thanks much. Jeff Updates available 9-17-2016Doc1.docx Failed Updates 9-17-2016 Doc1.docx
  12. Hello, I'll shutdown my computer and start it up again, to determine how the boot up goes. I have other questions, some of which I asked already, and will re-ask in my next post. Thanks, Jeff
  13. Hello Yoan, I installed each of the 16 Important Updates that were present on the Control Panel > Windows Update window, In accordance with the directions you gave me this morning. I sent to you a screen shot of it. Now, it says that Windows 10 upgrade is reserved, but no new updates are listed. I don't understand your last comment about malware not causing this problem I'm having and that I wasn't infected in the first place. No I did't realize that. Jeff

  15. Hello Yoan, Upon returning to my laptop, the login screen was present, I logged in and signed in on this forum. A popup saying an update to FlashPlayer is available. Should I click on "Remind me Later"? In the meantime, I'll get those files uploaded. Jeff
  16. Hello, Message said 16 updates installed, restart computer to finish. I restarted, and left my screen. Now, over an hour later, I returned to my screen and message: failure config...reverting changes, do not turn off computer. I am on my cell on this forum now. I left my computer on, reverting the changes. Awaiting further instructions. Jeff
  17. Hello Yoan, Here is the result, attached. Thanks, Jeff WindowsUpdate 9-17-2016 Doc1.docx

  20. Hello, I will do overnight. But I don't have 15% unused in my C drive, so will the updates occur without me transferring to the D drive? Jeff
  21. Hello, Checking for updates is still running after 2 hours.without finding any updates. I am terminating it now. My C drive has 138 GB used and 35 MG unused. On the c drive, the folders Windows = 31 GB, Program files x86 = 6 GB, Program files = 1 GB, Users = 9 GB, eSupport = 2 GB. The 13 other folders each have less than 1 GB (= less than 13GB), and 11 individual files each have much less than 1 GB each. I do not know where the other ±64 GB are on the C drive. Which of these if any can I move to the D drive which has plenty of unused space? I don't believe much of these are data files. Thanks, Jeff
  22. Hello Yoan, When I start my laptop, it boots normally without the "Configuring..." message. I am currently Check for Updates and is running for more than 20 minutes. I am getting a popup that warns my C drive is nearly full. I'll continue with the running check for updates and report to you in my next post. Thanks, Jeff
  23. Hello Yoan, My computer booted, I logged on, and signed on this forum. I checked Control Panel - Windows Updates - Review Update History, and KB3175443 Status was successful on 9-13-2016 at18:40. I followed your instructions, but different windows and messages appeared. I wrote a note of each, which I can give you if want. Each did not allow me to select the latest restore point, but the last window gave me the option to shut down or restart. I clicked restart, a black screen appeared and I selected Start Windows Normally. After a CHKDSK, my computer rebooted by itself and proceeded as described above. Awaiting further instructions, Thank you, Jeff
  24. Hi Yoan, sorry about you getting sick. Get well soon. I shut down my laptop after 3 hours of the message reporting it was reverting changes. I tried starting it again and it displayed the same message. After about 1/2 hour, I shut if off again I tried F8, got same message, and I shut it off. That is the current status. I am awaiting further instructions. Thank you, Jeff
