  1. Thanks for your help. I have moved over to BleepingComputer to work out the networking issue. Cheers!
  2. Ran flush.bat, system rebooted, issue remains. Scan log: mwblog.txt
  3. Additionally... it ran the one time and cleared a BHO. The only thing it found. Is it possible to move forward from here rather than focusing on the application's issue on this machine?
  4. As I have said (twice) it just sits and spins at the checking for updates stage.
  5. I just want to make sure I understand correctly. If I have no internet connection because of a possible virus, it is beyond Malwarebytes capabilities to scan for it because it requires a connection to the internet to check for updates first? Because it still tries to check regardless of the date of the "rules.ref" file.
  6. The database still does not update because there is no internet connection. There is no error message, the application simply continues trying until I intervene hours later. I am uncertain why it was able to run on that one earlier occasion. The antivirus is Avast. When I installed MWB I excluded it from Avast shields and searches, and have verified that is still the case. I have tried MWB with the AV disabled, there was no change. I am using only Windows Firewall. The issue remains that I cannot make any connections to any other device on my network, including the router.
  7. The .exe files run for less than a second and database still shows as Feb 2016. Where should the rules file be located. I scanned for it and did not find ANY version of it. Thanks.
  8. Hello again - Was able to run the malware scan and removed a BHO. So back to your instructions: completed steps 1&2 again and domain servers are set to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4
  9. And, if the database will always be behind, and the machine has no internet access, it will never scan?
  10. Hi there. Appreciate the reply but the executables do not change the file structure for MWB. No update happens.
  11. Maurice.. I appreciate your help but I need to move faster than one step per day on this particular machine as it is central to my home business. I opened a thread elsewhere with the specific question of locating a download location for the most recent ruled.ref file. Thanks again for your attention, and you can have this thread closed. If I have a continued issue after completing the MWB scan, I will open another. Rick
  12. I have a system with no internet access. I downloaded MalwareBytes to a USB drive and installed it. The current database is v2016.2.16.6 and the application hangs (for obvious reasons) while checking for updates. Where can I download the most recent database (the rules.ref not the exe installer)? Thanks!
  13. Both of your steps are completed (in truth, I have done these multiple times but did them again here). As stated above, the problem exists on one system only. Look forward to your next step(s). Thanks
