Hey Bob, Yes, this abbreviating nomenclature is getting out of control So, I can't run MB V3 (free) non resident (as an on demand scanner) at the same time as MB Anti-ransom (if I were to reinstall it) ? In other news: Since the updated MB V3 install, my computer went to hell in a hand basket. During the update install, it installed itself, uninstalled the previous version, uninstalled Anti Ransom and then crashed the computer. Subsequent windows restarts were still a bit messed up. I rebooted in safe mode and disabled MB3 resident modes and also prevented it from booting with windows. Now windows is back to normal. I am only running Avast resident and MS Security Essentials AV. MSSE is not set to run resident but as we all know, something about it is somehow sorta slightly resident. Bottom line, I have no idea why MB3 crashed. My system had no previous problems. I would have mentioned this earlier but wanted to be sure my windows problem was MB3 running resident.

Hi Bob, Today Malwarebytes anti Malware popped up reporting a new version which also included MBAR. I was kinda freaked out to discover AFTER it uninstalled my beta MBAR that it became trial-ware and I'd loose my MBAR in 15 days. Is there a comp version for your Beta testers ? Frank

Hey Bob, OK, Got it, thanks. However, the issue still remains concerning the stand alone MBAR. Has it's engine changed ? Assuming I can still download and run it by itself, can you direct me to the MBAR download link ?

Hi Bob, Thank you for the more detailed description of what just happened. That said, then it appears that from here on out, Malwarebytes anti-malware will no longer be offering a free version with up to date capabilities ?

Hi Bob Guryan, In as much as you guys were kind enough to offer assistance, it seems that AGi62's suggestion of delaying the service pretty much cured the problem. Now, it is only on a very rare occasion (once a month perhaps) on a fresh boot up, that the MBAR service does not engage properly. It now boots up reliably. The reason for the delay in getting back to you was simply to check out AGI62's suggestion long term. Frankly it works very well. Perhaps works well for me because it could be related to my system's size and the many background applications I have running. Frankmeister

OK tetonbob great ! Also: agi62: The eclipse as seen through the approved cheap blackout glassed was VERY uneventful. Hardly worth looking. As for photography, it simply seemed like a way to destroy a good camera, so I didn't try.

Hi 1PW & TentonBob, I will run the diagnostics you suggested. I will be out of the office for a few days but I will be on it ASAP. As for specifics: I am running W7-64 on 2 different computers with the same hardware config. They both have had problems where MBAR required "fixing". In your previous version it only required closing the process. Now with the latest version I need to close the service. Thanks to AGI62's suggestion of delaying the process, MBAR only fails a maximum of once a week instead of every third day.

Hi agi62, I wanted to use your suggested delay technique for a while before I commented... It works VERY well. Now, perhaps once a week (at most) MBAR will not activate properly. (This is MUCH better than before, where it was every other boot there was a problem) However, NOW, the vast majority of all cold computer boots, MBAR loads and functions perfectly. Thank you VERY much for your suggestion. It seems as though Malware Bytes Tech Svc disappeared from this thread perhaps for lack of input. Your suggestion to delay the service has made a dramatic difference and it's something many others can benefit from. Thanks Again, Frank Also: South Carolina was in the direct path of the recent full eclipse. It lasted for a minute or so..... I just didn't get what the fuss was all about. It wasn't nearly as dramatic as everyone said it was. Maybe they were looking at a different eclipse !

Agi62, Thanks, so far I have been able to boot up with no MBAR problem. I will see how it goes during the week. So far so good (I took a look at Ravenna with google earth. It was fun driving through the streets. It's quite a big metropolis. I'm 3rd generation Italian, but can't speak the language

Agi62, Thank you very much !! I have made the changes. I will wait to see if it cures the problem over the next few days then I will post back to you. ">I apologize for the translation, I have the Italian operating system." Your translation was perfect ! I assume you are from Italy ? This is Myrtle Beach SC USA.

Hi AGI62, I use a program called "Startup delayer" to delay program starts. In order to delay the start of MBAR, I will need to find where the startup function is located. Most of the time CCleaner will show that but not with MBAR. Now all I can do is find it in the registry. However, I have been unable to find it in the usual startup locations. Do you know the path to the registry key for startup ?
