  1. Kevin, Here is the new log from FRST. As far as I can tell the system seems to operating fine, but I am not the one that normally uses it. I will give it back to the owner's mom so she can give me some feedback. Her son is away on summer vacation at his grandparents' home in southern California so I'm not sure when he will have a chance to get his hands on it. I will be installing anti-virus protection before giving it back though Thank you, Al Fixlog.txt
  2. Kevin, Here are the files you requested. There are two log files from Sophos, which found three items to clean up. The first log (ending with cu1a) is from after the initial clean up. The second log (ending with cu1b) is the log from after the reboot as there was one item that could not be cleaned up without a reboot. There appears to be one item that Sophos can not clean up: Troj/Patched-BM Thank you, Al Fixlog.txt AdwCleaner[C1].txt SophosVirusRemovalToolcu1a.txt SophosVirusRemovalToolcu1b.txt
  3. Kevin, I was able to run Malwarebytes and have included the scan log. I actually have included two of them (scanlogrb.txt and scanlogrb2.txt) - after the first scan was completed and the system rebooted, Malwarebytes poped up a message stating the it was recommended that a run another scan so I did. Also included in my attachments are the files from running FRST a second time (FRST2.txt and Addition2.txt). Thank you, Al scanlogrb.txt scanlogrb2.txt Addition2.txt FRST2.txt
  4. Kevin, I included the two text files from the FRST scan in my original post. Thank you, Al
  5. Kevin, Thank you for the quick response. I downloaded Zemana and tried to install it. However, I received an error after selecting the language to use: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022), Click OK to close the application. (the above message was displayed three times - that is, after clicking OK it appeared again. I clicked OK and it appeared one more time) I seem to be in a catch-22 situation... I need to install malware software but whatever is affecting the laptop is stopping the install attempts (both for Malwarebytes and Zemana). Thank you, Al
  6. I am helping a friend with issues her son is having with his laptop. Internet Explorer is no longer working (either missing or corrupt files) and the ability to connect to the internet is also affected. The laptop appears to be infected with a virus or malware. I tried to install Malwarebytes but received an error - Runetime Error (at 110:137): Could not call proc. I followed the instructions on your website and my .txt files are attached. Please note that since the ability to connect to the internet is affected, the install of FRST did encounter an error when looking for updates online. Thank you in advance, Al Addition.txt FRST.txt
