Just did a check for updates/applied update and re-enabled web protection - so far so good.

I had to turn web detection off, it was blocking every google service I'm using - anybody seeing the same? Started less than 30 minutes ago.

In my case I disabled MS Firewall and Defender at the same time as Malwarebytes so it really could have been either from that point of view. Those were the only 2 changes I made when I finally got it to apply successfully after at least 10 attempts. Seemed more probable that it was Malwarebytes and figured I'd post on the off chance it helped anybody because I couldn't find anything on the web for this KBB + this error code combination. Malwarebytes might be innocent, might be a combo of it + Windows Defender, or might have been Windows Defender's fault...I don't know. Just wanted to post on off chance somebody else saw the issue & this came in handy for them.

Posting my experience in case it helps somebody else. My PC received Microsoft's new 2022-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5015814) And it failed with this reason: 0x8007007e I tried again and again, after a sfc /scannow and things like that but still no luck. Windows failed to update over and over, but I saw on Microsoft's site to disable 3rd party antivirus and Windows Firewall/Windows Defender so I disabled Malwarebytes (all 4 options when right clicking in systray, as well as everything in the settings->security tab) and did the update and it finally went on clean. Re-enabled Malwarebytes afterward and things are working fine.

Thank you! Will come in handy in the future. I updated MediaMonkey as well as forced an update on Malwarebytes (which had been updated yesterday) and the false positive has gone away. @Winter you might want to try the same?

I have the same MediaMonkey detection as Winter and wanted to report it in that forum you linked but the sticky only describes how to upload logs etc for prior versions of Malwarebytes and not 4.x....

I have this program called Malwarebytes eating up all my memory resulting in crashes. It seems to be self-updating so that it is capable of torpedoing my workstation when least expected. It was advertised as anti-malware but is worse than any malware I've ever suffered from before. What should I do?

I have this too, it is bad - I have to terminate the Malwarebytes service and leave it down. It eventually eats up all available memory and kills my performance if left alone.

I think false positive, seems to be related to Simple Service Discovery Protocol. How this made it through their "testing" is beyond me.

The weird thing is that if I save the log, it says 0 malicious items detected, but here on the display screen it shows them. I've attached a zip containing an image AND a log from where I click Save results in the bottom right of that screen and save to TXT file. malwarebytes log and screen.zip

Malwarebytes claims these two files have Trojan.Keybase in them, one is a DLL used by Photosync windows companion program (this is a popular IOS app that downloads pictures/movies from iPhone iPad etc to a Windows desktop automatically via this Windows companion program). This is new as of this morning, I have had Photosync installed for weeks with no issue. Two Photosync Files Claims Trojan Keybase.zip
