  1. following daledoc1's lead I went to Services/Base Filtering Engine, set it from Disabled to Automatic (is that right?) then set termservice to 'demand' again as above (don't know if that was necessary) and then was able to turn on Malicious Website Protection. Rebooted and still looks good. Crossing my fingers. Thanks! Would you like to see new logs?
  2. Wow, I haven't used Norton in many years but maybe it was on the machine as bloatware when I bought it as refurbished about five years ago. I uninstalled it. Did you see any evidence it was loaded and active? If so I never realized that or used it to scan anything. It's gone now -- Complete Uninstall- same problem -- should I try again on restoring Terminal Services now? Thanks! (tried daledoc1's method sc config termservice start= demand as administrator and got SUCCESS but problem persists
  3. Sadly that only worked for a few minutes. Back to the same situation. Any ideas?
  4. daledoc1 -- after looking at the CheckResults log, I saw that TermServices should not be disabled -- I found a reply from you to somebody else on the same issue, used CMD to change it as directed, and it seems fine now. Thanks! These are the directions I followed for future people who find this
  5. Got, thanks! See attachments. Nothing called CheckResults.txt or anything starting with Check in that directory...ran again in another folder to make sure (64 bit as administrator in Win 7). FRST.txt Addition.txt Oh wait now I see that's a different utility. Will post checkresults shortly
  6. Unable to enable malicious website protection after two rounds of using mbam-clean and uninstall with reboots after each -- as instructed -- ie, disabling account, disabling self protection, etc... only difference is now I get notification that "Protection Disabled" with "Fix Now" button that does nothing...on my Dashboard when I click on Enable for Malicious Website Protection it lasts only a fraction of a second -- the frowny face turns smily just for that amount of time and reverts. Is this a new thing? Other questions along these lines seem to have been resolved by reboot or clean reinstall...thanks for any insight..protection log attached as text, showing my attempts to change, and overall log -- pretty minimal since the latest reinsall a few hours ago --Tim protection-log-2016-03-26.txt mbam-log-2016-03-26 (17-41-29).txt
