  1. Thanks for replying again. I've just run that and here is the file. kprm-20220801154029.txt
  2. Here is my scan log. It didn't find any problem and I have also manually looked and that cmd.exe file is gone. I don't know how they got that one through as I run MB Premium and Bitdefender both in tandem but they didn't get very far. I have a feeling someone was trying to hack my PC and I got notified a couple of weeks ago of a failed login attempt on my Microsoft account which prompted me to change the password but hopefully it's fixed now so thank you for your help. 3. UPDATE As soon as I clicked the post button on my last post the program threw up a message to say it had finished and made me reboot. Then it gave me a message about the Fixlog.txt file so I am re-uploading it. Fixlog.txt
  4. Hi. I disabled my Bitdefender anti virus and ran Farbar as instructed but after 15 minutes or so it stopped responding. I have allowed about another 30 mnutes but it hasn't moved. however, I have checked my Downloads folder and found that there is a Fixlog.txt file in there so I have uploaded it in case it is any use. 5. Thanks for replying Porthos. Here's the link. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855/detection It might also help you to know that I tool a look at the two cmd.exe files on my PC. The proper windows file at C:\Windows\System32 was created and modified on 21st March 2021 The suspect file C:\Users\ME was created and modified on 12th July 2022 three weeks ago.
  6. Malwarebytes just completed a scan and reported the file cmd.exe as a trojan. I immediately recognised it as the command prompt exe file which is normally located in the Windows/System32 folder. However, the file Malwarebytes has identified is located in c:/users/myaccount folder which makes me wonder if this is a genuine trojan or a false positive. Here is the log file so please could someone take a look and advise me what to do next? 7. Ah OK that could be it. Anyway I'm all sorted now. I don't know if there is any way of me leaving you some personal feedback but your advice and speed of responses have been amazing and I'm truly grateful and more than happy to if there is a way to do so.
  8. Thank you. I'm been on auto renewal for my license so have just installed any updates when I get a notification to do so but may have missed the version 3 update if it was sent by email. Just one more thing please. Are the 6 malwarebytes file exclusions I need to set within Bitdefender still the same as before?
  9. That's fantastic, thank you so much. I'm all set up on this PC. Just have to repeat the process on my other 2 machines. It may be worth updating the v4 installation instructions on the page below to make it clearer on what to do for existing premium users to avoid other people needing tom ask the same question. https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-3531?utm_source=double-opt-in&utm_medium=email-internal-B2C&utm_campaign=EM-B2C-MB4-GA-Windows-Premium&utm_content=copy-cta
  10. Thank you exile360. First PC is done and it installed perfectly and retained my current license. Could I ask one other question please? I have always run MB alongside Bitdefender on all my devices and have always setup exclusions in both so they don't trip over each other. In this new version I have searched thoroughly and cannot see how to create the necessary exclusion to prevent MB scanning the Bitdefender folder.
  11. Hi, Please could I ask if someone could help me with a couple of questions. I have been a home premium subscriber with a 3 PC License for the last couple of years or so and am currently running Malwarebytes Home Premium v 2.1.8.1057 on both of my PC’s and my laptop which are all running fully up to date versions of Windows 10. My current license still has 257 days left on it. I have just received an email today offering a free upgrade to Malwarebytes v4 and have downloaded the setup file. When I try to run it I am getting the message "An unsupported legacy version of the product has been detected. Please uninstall and then try again." My instinct is to uninstall my current Malwarebytes version first and then run the v4 setup file and put in my existing license key again. However, I would be grateful if someone can kindly confirm that is the right way to go about installing this upgrade and secondly will my existing license key still work and preserve the days I have left on my subscription. Thank you.
  12. Thanks everyone for your kind and very helpful advice which has cured the problem. I quite agree in that I couldn't see any reason why Malwarebytes real-time protection couldn't run happily alongside Bitdefender so I was a bit concerned about the advice I got from their forum to uninstall MBAM Premium. Now that I have configured the exclusions as per your kind instructions above the issue appears to be solved so I now also have BD, MBAM and MBAE all running together happily. Since the error showed up in Bitdefender I have also posted the solution on their forum for other BD users. Thank you all again very much for your very kind and helpful replies.
  13. Thank you both for your kind responses. This was a completely new machine that I only got back in July this year and Malwarebytes & Bitdefender are the only two security programs I have used on it to date. My only reason for mentioning Zonealarm was because my past experience with that had shown me that MBAM can co-exist alongside another security suite so the advice I received from Bitdefender to get rid of MBAM Premium I felt was over the top and unnecessary. I'm very grateful for your advice about the exclusions. Once I've tried them I'll post back and let you know how I get on.
