  1. Hi George. This is not unique to your computer. I, too have this issue. I feel that this has been caused by an update to Malwarebytes, which has corrupted the installer for this program. I have reported this issue on the forum, but unfortunately, Malwarebytes forum moderators feel that this software is infallible, and the issue will always be solved by the 2X removal process, and re- installing the software! This is simply NOT the case. Re- installing the software does absolutely NOTHING to correct the problem. I would advise forgetting about Malwarebytes all together, until they correct their bug ridden software!
  2. Did you people even READ my reply?? I have no problem updating any other software, nor do, I have any issues accessing the net! If there were a problem with the PC, I would NOT be able to update V. 1.75, which, by the way, updated just fine. I did a removal of V 2.2.1.1053 following the recommended procedure, using MBAM clean tool. I then installed V. 1.75 as a test to see if it would update. When is Malwarebytes just going to admit that their product is not perfect, as so many on this forum think?
  3. It is not your system. I too have the latest version, and am also unable to access the update server. Malwarebytes has created this issue with an update to their latest version. I can access any site, windows update, my antvirus updates, but Malwarebytes will not update. I have confirmed this is an issue with the software, by completely uninstalling MBAM and installing V. 1.75 as an experiment. Guess what? MBAM V. 1.75 updates just fine!! Come on, Malwarebytes, fix your buggy software!
  4. No, on Windows 8 & 8.1, Windows Defender IS a full Antivirus program. On Windows 7 and prior versions, Defender was strictly an anti spyware program. The downloadable version of Windows Defender Which is called Microsoft Security Essentials is a full antivirus program. When Windows 8 was released, Microsoft incorporated the antivirus capabilities of Security Essentials into Windows Defender, and the name was changed to Windows Defender.
  5. I am currently running Malwarebytes Premium(Latest version.) on a Windows 8.1 system, with Windows Defender as the Antivirus program. I know there are people who will say that Defender is not good protection, but I find this combination is light on resources, and causes no slow downs. Is this combination OK? I am careful where I go on the web, and do not use file sharing sites etc. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  6. Go to Filehippo site. Type in Malwarebytes in search bar, click on MBAM, and then look to the right side for "other versions. Select 1.75 from the list.
  7. The last "good" version of MBAM was 1.75. After this, things went downhill fast. It's not your imagination, Ken. I too have had to re and re the newer versions after so much use, as the software seems to become corrupted so easily. I have gone back to 1.75, and I will take my chances with less protection, as it actually works without all of the bugs.
  8. I do wish people on this forum would stop blaming the pc owner, registry cleaners(I do not use them), and system errors for the poorly written program that is MBAM. This is the only program that I have issues with. Everything else on my pc works flawlessly, including all of the other installed programs. When will Malwarebytes just admit that they rush out new versions without proper evaluation. It IS MBAM software that is flawed!
  9. The issue still persists. I ran a weekly scheduled scan today, and after it had completed, the next scheduled scan still shows as 2 weeks from today, not 1 week as scheduled. When is this going to be corrected with a patch? soon, I hope, as these bugs are becoming annoying.
  10. It seems that the real issue with the bugs in the latest version arise because the software developers at MBAM are trying to be all things to all people as it were. It may be true that they are creating software for "Windows O/S" but are forgetting that each version of Windows, from Xp to Windows 10, have similarities in the program, but the code for each is distinct. In trying to create a one size fits all program, they are creating issues for each version of Windows. It would be better if they wrote a version for say 7, a version for 8/8.1, and a version for 10 instead. Just a thought for the higher-ups!?
  11. Guess what?! I have the same issue with this new version. Frankly I'm getting a bit tired of each time a new version is released, more bugs appear. PLEASE don't release a new version until it has been THOROUGHLY tested and evaluated. As a result of this last release, I am officially done with Malwarebytes in any shape or form.
  12. You may also want to check the Microsoft Community Forum. There is an ongoing issue with WIFI connectivity with the Windows 10 upgrade. It would seem that this issue is quite common from perusing the Microsoft forum. This may not be related to Malwarebytes at all.
