  1. Well--Thought the latest version fixed my issue but apparently it made things much worse.. funny I ran the application for two days with no issues-then it started. Web protection turned off...by the time I got 4 popups about that another one started popping up saying real time protection was off--wtf? I'm not infected with anything, this is an application issues. I am running windows 7 SP1 with all updates except the ones pertaining to upgrading to windows 10. I run Vipre, but I've uninstalled it and this still happens--so it is back on. Well, malwarebytes is uninstalled once more. Sigh, I love this application but it is getting to the point that I can't trust it anymore...either way, my annual license purchase is NOT on auto--I have to do it manually--and I won't be until the application actually works for me. I don't know why but I keep thinking this is Windows 7 issue for some reason....no evidence of that, just a gut feeling...r there windows 10 users experiencing the same issue?
  2. I would add that I used add/remove programs (Win7) to uninstall malwarebytes. The rebooted. Then ran the malwarebytes clean tool https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean The reboot. Then install the latest malwarebytes version Malwarebytes version: 3.0.6.1469 Component package: 1.0.75 Then reboot. Then test.
  3. I just posted this in a new thread and thought maybe some here would benefit from it. Hi I downloaded the most recent update to see if it had resolve the web protection turning off or not starting issue I was having with a past version. I am happy to say that the most recent version seems to be working as it should be. The "issue" (not really an issue) I was having with the most recent version was that the program was blocking itself from downloading updates. Also, something else was being blocked and I am not sure what it is doing. I had to add two exclusions to the application to resolve the "website blocked" notifications I was getting. One of them allowed me to get updates: sirius-sir-prod-web.us-east-1.elasticbeanstalk.com the other I have noclue but it was the same server as the update server so I thought, "What the hell-add it to exclusions also." It is: keystone-key-prod-web.us-east-1.elasticbeanstalk.com I am posting here to make sure these are valid URL's for official application routines and not some man-in-the-middle thing happening. Thanks, J

  5. I really appreciate the offer Ron. However, since my system is clean and I won't be uninstalling my antivirus (Vipre) I figure this is a MB issue that has to be resolve at the application level, not the configuration level. my programmer wife and both my programmer sons agreed after I described to them the issue I am having and the troubleshooting steps I have taken. I took the time to install a clean Windows 7 SP1 VM. I installed nothing on that VM except for MB. Same issues with web protection module. I will absolutely NOT waste days or weeks of my time troubleshooting what amounts to a beta release called "final version". I HAVE to put up with that behavior from Microsoft (until I run out of Windows 7 support anyways-then conversion to Linux will be my option), but I do not have to put up with that from any other software company out there - there are way to many other options to choose from. So, I am about to uninstall MB from my PC and go without-wasting a few months of money on the remaining license I might add. What I do not understand is WHY MB does not have the previous version available for download? It worked fine with my PC - I did not have ANY issues whatsoever until I upgraded to 3.0.6 a week ago. Removing v.3.0.6 and reinstalling v.3.0.5 might just fix my issue but MB has not given me that option. Instead they want me to beta test, submit issues for them to resolve and beta test some more. I do not get paid to beta test MB software. Cheers and good luck resolving this nightmare.
  6. Well. Like I said in another post-my router has ad/malware/virus protection also. It isn't as great as MB - I don't think any other program comes close to the detection rate of MB - that being said I also have turned of Vipre's web protection module and it can be turned on again and MB can be removed from my system. Do we know FOR SURE that it's anti virus causing this issue though. I uninstalled Vipre deleting all folders and running though the registry like I always do after an uninstall and MB still has it's web protection turning off all by itself and then not starting up unless I restart the service. Worse is the constant popups telling me to turn it on-I have notifications turned off and have deselected the option to register with Windows Action Center and STILL the popups happen every 10 seconds or so telling me to turn on web protection. It is NOT in-expensive for a man lie me-I pay for five license's yearly and it isn't cheap-I am not a rich man. Vipre's web protection HAS caught virus/spyware/adware on the download before. Multiple times (it gives me the choice to continue downloading or not and sometimes I do because I am logged onto one of my VM's and I want to infect it to see what happens - VM's are awesome for that - snapshots are a wonderful thing). So, I am going to uninstall MB from my PC. All the other PC's are running the last version of MB because I have not yet updated them; I only update my PC for testing purposes before I do my wife's and sons PC's...thank GOD--my son has been known to browse some nefarious areas of the web and I got tired of cleaning his PC. Either way, none of the other PC's I take of are displaying this behavior with MB. Just mine and MB version 3.0.6-the previous version worked fine. I went to the MB website to re download the previous version in order to put my PC back in order but I cannot find it anywhere on their website to download--wonderful. So, in approx. 2 months when all five licenses expire-we'll rely on my routers edge protection and Vipre and I'll say myself a few hundred dollars every year. Who knows, maybe by then MB will have fixed the issue.
  7. oh yeah..I turned off auto application updates because lets face it--malwarebytes was good for years...the economy being what it is I'm sure the penny pushers are driving the programmers hard..I won't say any more about that..but I will say that my trust in malwarebytes perfection (it has always worked perfectly in the past) has been somewhat let down and I feel a bit like I did about windows 10--don't trust it. If this isn't resolved soon I'll be foregoing the payment on my next license and simply finding something else or just trusting my firewall (corporate firewall/IDS/IPS PC) which has ad/malware/ protection all in itself-it does not HAVE the coverage of malwarebytes and it won't detect anything based on activities and it needs to download an updated malicious website list everyday but my family is extremely computer (3 programmers and me IT technician for 30 years) litterate and we kno0w what to avoid and where NOT to go..or at least where we need to tread carefully. I basically pay for malwarebytes for those nights when I am trashed outta my head drunk and click happy :-)
  8. Ok everything is working fine again...or at least it says it is...I don't believe it though-not after the past week. Not for a second. I'll be back here in 8 hrs or so with a report. Who knows, maybe the second time following all those steps above will be magic or something. Cheers
  9. I tried all of the steps in this thread: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/195576-real-time-protection-layer-turning-off-try-this/ along with the following: quit malwarebytes tray application. Stop malwarebytes service. use add/remove programs to uninstall malwarebytes. Reboot windows 7. delete malwarebytes folder from program files and %userprofile%appdata/roaming and search registry for *malwarebyte and deleting everything found. Reboot windows 7 once more. Then re-install malwarebytes fresh. update as much as it would. Everything running fine when I left this morning. All Malwarebytes functions said they were on. I did not enable early start nor did I enable the protection module. When I came home an hour ago ALL malwarebytes functions were off. Not just the web protection module. So, I uninstalled the latest version and went though all the above steps again. I attempted to install the original version I purchased (I just keep buying 5 licenses every year for the past 4 years) which as version 1.5.something or another and of course it installed fine and failed to update any definitions (1400 days old-lol)-so now I have uninstalled that version and put version 3.0.6 back on and I'm about to reboot.
  10. Hi, Same issue with me. Win7 SP1 all updates applied. When I shutdown or reboot web protection is et to off, when I click the turn on button it stays at starting literally forever(I left it like this for 5 days). What worked for me, and it is odd, I went to services.msc (windows 10 users will have to search google or soemthing-win10 is hosed but that's another post) stopped the malwares service(which shuts down the whole application) and when it was stopped I simply clicked start again and it started fine-with web protection turned on. hopefully this will help someone--sometime in the future( I rarely shutdown or reboot my PC-maybe once every 3-6 months) I'll try to remember to set it to automatic startup delayed - it may be conflicting with other services I have starting from boot. Cheers
  11. Oh, one more thing, I run Malwarebytes on ALL my home PC's (8 PC's/laptops in total). Non of the other PC's have been upgraded to the newest version, I wanted to test the newest version first on my system before upgrading the others. ALL the other systems which run a range of WIndows 7 to Windows 10 are working as expected. Only my newer version gives these symptoms.
  12. Hi, I upgraded to the newest version of Malwarebytes when the program prompted me to, about 2 weeks ago I beleive. Either way since then I notice that whatever websites are blocked are blocked permanently OR until I turn off Malicious Website Blocking (webproxy). For example, I got to website a.b.com and it is blocked. I add a.b.com to the web exclusions list, which should take effect immediaetly, without any restarting of the program or anything, and then go to a.b.com once more and it is still blocked. I use firefox, so I go and delete all the web cache and temporary files from firefox AND close the program, ending task on webprxy.exe within Task Manager. Then I restart Malwarebytes and firefox. I try a.b.com once more and it is still block. I check the exclusiosn and yes a.b.com is STILL in the exclusions list. OK, so I turn of web exclusions, a.b.com now loads with njot troubles. Gettng frustrated I do all the above steps again except I do not restart malware bytes or firefox...instead I reboot my system letting windows startup do what it does with malwarebytes. When I load up Firefox and go to a.b.com it is still blocked. I turn off Malicous Website Protection and the site loads with no issues, I turn on Malicious Website Protection, check the exclusiosn and a.b.com is still in the exclusiosn list but the website is blocked, and around and around and around I go. Whats the point of putting this in your program when it is clearly non-functional on some systems? So, for now I cannot use this fucntion of Malwarebytes-I like this function but it HAS to have a working exclusions list. I have not experimented much but I have the folliwngin system: Windows 10-all updates applied Vipre Anit-virus Firefox using noscript and adblock (a.b.com has been allowed full script functionality within noscript and in fact the symptoms only occur when Malicous Website Protection is enabled within Malwarebytes) And to make matters worse, Malwarebtes now shows a BIG RED EXCLAMATTION mark on it and Windows Security Center reporst and issue with Malwarebytes. OK, now before some gung ho youngster starts yelling VIRUS,VIRUS,VIRUS-uuummm no. I have more than 30 yeras experience protecting from and getting rid of malware and virii. This system is clean, period-other than the windows 10 virus currently infecting it there is NO virus or malware on this sytem. BUT, jst cause, I also scanned the system with two online virus/malware scanners and a third offline scanner from within a linux Live USB...AND if that doesn't seem like enough well, I loaded my harddrive into my USB external toastter and hooked it up to my laptop whihc is running windows 7/Linux Mint(dual boot) and use BOTH of thsoe operating syustems to scan the hard drive while it was mounted but not the system disk So, WHEN can I expect the Malicious Websiute blocking exclusions list to work proerly? Thank You, John
