  1. You've got that right! When the freeze problem started with MBAM, I shut it off, and ran a disk check which came up clean. Now when I just started my PC I too received the MS message that Malwarebytes has encountered a problem and needs to close. Malwarebytes has a real problem - at least with XP, and while I'm new here (never had a problem with MB before), I placed daledoc1 on my ignore list as he/she hasn't had any helpful posts concerning this issue.
  2. Certainly, I have taken no action to address the freeze-up issue I've had with MB except to prevent it from starting with my PC, and not running it. Upon seeing your request I started MB and updated to the 072605, configured it to start with Windows with a 180 second delay. Restarted my PC and have experienced no problems. I will continue to use the program and if I encounter the freeze issue again, I will start a new, separate thread with all the fixings - this should satisfy Spam Hunters insistence.
  3. Your words & mine: MB had been running ok since last automatic program update to 2.1.8.1057. It was configured to start with windows, and auto update the DB. On July 24 the computer started freezing. Forced shutdowns sometimes failed to completely reboot. A reboot into safe mode with networking froze as well. After forced shutdowns and a number of reboots, I was able to get to MB and configure MB so that it did not start with windows. Without MB running, the computer operated normally with all normal boot programs enabled. Please note that the computer became totally inop when MB was running ( not scanning ). A forced power down was the only available option. EXACTLY! This on an MPC desktop (Gateway business PC) running Windows XP Pro SP3. Until now, I thought that I was the only Sygate Firewall user left. I've considered removing MB and reinstalling a previous version if that is even possible.
