  1. I solved the issue and my mbam.exe now scans the File System also without any freezing. On googling, I got a clue from some Tech.Forums, and I did as follows:- 1)Uninstalled .NET Framework 2.0 using the Cleanup Tool from http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx 2)Reinstalled the same through Microsoft Update, and also installed the Security Update of Microsoft C++ 2005 ATL Update KB973923-x86.8.0.50727.4063.I think Malwarebytes had once advised this for a freezing issue of one of the previous versions. Somehow,I wanted to regain my mbam.exe, since it gives superior protection alongwith Avast. Anyway, thanks to'yokenny1' and 'AdvancedSetup' for attending to my post.
  2. Thanks, but,I don't think installing the bulky(70MB to 580MB) and problems-prone XP SP3 will solve the problem of the small sized security tool,mbam.exe. Please refer to:- http://news.cnet.com/dont-install-windows-...ice-pack-3-yet/ http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/908...endless_reboots XP SP3 triggers false positives in security apps:- http://windowssecrets.com/comp/080522/#story1 and also the users' opinions in:- http://www.softpedia.com/progViewOpinions/...SP3-90001,.html
  3. I use MBAM for a longtime.Recently,I updated vn. 1.38 to 1.40.(I have WinXP pro-sp2 and AvastAVPro without any problems).I did a quick scan as usual enabling Scan:-Memory objects, registry,FileSystem and Extra&Heuristics, under Settings tab.The Quick scan ran upto file:-Microsoft.Net/Framework/v2.0.50727/diasymreader.dll and mbam froze alongwith pc.I've reset the pc and again did a quickscan, but the freezing repeated at the same spot. Then,I disabled "Always Scan FileSystem" under Settings tab,and the MBAM completed the quick-scan fine. I tested by uninstalling the MBAM and again downloded Vn.1.40 from CNET and installed afresh, but the same position of freezing, repeated when the scan reaches .NET frame work file diasymreader.dll(which the previous vns. of MBAM did not have for the past one year.) I scanned with AvastPro&SpywareDoctor and there is no infection of any-kind in the pc. I think this bug of File-System- scan is to be fixed by Malwarebytes ? Thanks in advance.
