  1. Honestly, I promise I will get this done by the end of next week, Easter is kind of hectic with family around. I do appreciate your patience.
  2. Hey, not ignoring you, hectic week at work, I will get that second scan done as soon I have time, hopefully this weekend. Thanks for being so patient with me.
  3. Hi, sorr, I was supposed to update you earlier. I'm going to get around to doing it this week, I've not had a chance to sit down and set up my laptop to use this week, had some family issues to deal with when not at work. Thank you for being so patient
  4. I know that your services are free, but I wanted to do something to show that I am grateful, as I was worried about this possible infection. The MALB scan was one from earlier (the one I mentioned in the original post), I simply forgot to mention it because I closed the application without looking at scan results, and saw that you mentioned it at the bottom of post 2, so thought I'd mention it. I've not had a chance to do that new FRST Fix scan, I was going to try yesterday, but Windows decided to update, so I can only get around to it at the start of next week now, is that okay?
  5. Also, just noticed that when opening the documents section of file explorer, there is a folder called "localmetadata" c, I have never seen that before. It has 2 MTA files , crash_1033 & jan shut down events_1033 Is this something to be concerned about? I've literally only just noticed it
  6. Brilliant, the MalwareAntiBytes scan showed no items were infected, do you need me to up that scan result? So, judging from what you've seen, no infections or malware or trojans or viruses shown? I can't get around to doing that clean-up until early next week, is that okay? I don't use PayPal, would you be okay with a small PaySafeCard code?
  7. sorry for the triple post, I noticed that it shows 2 folders for Jon Bellion - Definition (free mixtape from his site) and a Jadakiss freestyle mixtape , don't want this topic to get shut down because of them
  8. just to let you know, i did the scan when i was in aeorplane mode, i have maually disabled the camera The addition note, under the scheduled tasks (whitelisted), there are a few "ATTENTION!" thing next to some of the stuff
  9. I have added the two FRST64 scans , I am just waiting for the MALB scan to finish Addition.txt FRST.txt
  10. Hi Firefox, I have anothee thread open, is it okay if I post the logs after I have had that addressed? Anothee forum helper said it is best to do an issue at a time. Thank you though, I shall update once I have sorted the other issue.
  11. Thanks for replying. And I am backing up my data as we speak, so that I can run the scans over the next 2 days, and then I can upload the scan files. Sorry if I am coming across as a nuisance person, I shall make sure I get the two open topics sorted before any other issues. I really do appreciate the effort you all put in to help us novices with advice and support.
  12. I also have remote assistance turned off, so I should be okay, right? Again, sorry if I sound like an idiot.
  13. Esorry if I come across really stupid. What do you mean by that? Can a home version of windows take over pc with a pro/ent version? Or can a pro/ent version take control over a pc with Windows home? Ie. I have Windows 10 Home, is my computer safe from someone else taking over my pc through remote control ? Thank you btw, I genuinely mean that, I really don't want you to think I am taking the mick or not appreciating the time you have taken to reply.
  14. For future reference, just don't want to forget what I wanted to ask, will wait for a reply when other topics solved. Is there a difference between remote assistance and remote control? And are you saying that the Windows 10 Home edition means that someone can't remotely control my laptop? Sorry if that is a really dumb Q. Can I use my computer to remotely control another desktop or laptop on my home network?
  15. Hi, my apologies, I am sorry for creating this thread when I have 2 others open. I shall take in what you said, that said, thank you for replying.
  16. Hey, I am running Windows 10 Home edition, Under the settings > my pc , the "organization" is listed as "WORKGROUP" is that normal? And also, do I have remote desktop enabled? I can only see "remote assistance" under the system properties section. I want to ensure that remote desktop is off, so that someome can't break/hack into my computer, can someone advise me on how to do that?
  17. Sorry for not replying, hectic wee, I appreciate the help, do you mind keep it open for a week until I can get the time to do all of this?
  18. Hi, how do I disable Tor? I only run it once a week to watch games I'm going to get round to backing-up and doing the scans this weekend, don't want you to think I don't appreciate your time
  19. Would you suggest the average computer user keep this app or is not needed? Is it really as simple as allowing it to run by itself and leaving it on and only getting notifications when it blocks something? Thank you, I was concerned that all those programs above had someone appeared on my computer.
  20. Hey everyone, I ran Chameleon on a laptop andthe above error code, it then asked me if I wanted to Continue without scanning root-kits My product is a Dell computer. Other forum posts suggest that it is down to an encrypted hard-drive? I don't think I've ever encrypted it, I wouldn't know how to. How would I find out? And also, is it possible thar a virus or something has encrypted the laptop or something and preventing scanning of root-kits?
  21. Hey, I downloaded Anti-Exploit Free for my computer, would you reccomend that I need it or not? I am sorry if I sound like a complete idiot. When looking at the shields section, it was quite long, can someone tell me if this is normal and what it means? Do I have all of these exe file things downloaded? Or are they basic ones it protects? I don't think I've ever had Opera on my computer for example: Mozilla Firefox Google Chrome Microsoft Edge Internet Explora Opera Maxthon SeaMonkey IceDragon CyberFox Palemoon Tor Waterfox Java (with 3 different exe. Java. javaw. Javaws. ) Adobe Reader The ones above have a lock signal next to them, what does that mean? These have a unlocked symbol Foxit Phantom (2 versions , one with a space in the name and one without) Foxit Reader Libre Office Office Word Office Excel Office Powepoint Windows Media Player (wmplayer) Windows Media Player (mplayer) VLC Player Winamp Player Quicktime Player Should I be concerned about any of the programs listed above? Are they all on my computer (I've never used Opera, and those dragon and monkey things and the Foxit files are unkmown to me) I am sorry if I really do come across like an idiot, any help/advice that can help me understand would be helpful.
  22. Hi DBreeze, Thanks for replying, - I don't have any P2P or Torrent things, I'm fairly certain I have no cracked or illegal programs running, I have genuinely purchaed everything on my computer. I do have Tor Browser though, so that I can stream soccer games that are geo-blocked, is that an issue? - The Malwareantibytes scan showed no issues, but I'll do a new one and I'll do that other scan too, I'll hold off until the other scan until you say so - I'm not going to be able to scan this weekend as I am away from home, so me not doing what you asked for is not out of rudeness, I do appreciate the help - And I can only back-up all of my data on Monday/Tuesday, so I shall post scans and everything once that is done, is that okay? Regarding the FRST app, after it has produced logs, is it supposed to continue scanning and searching? Thank you for replying so quickly! and any help/advice you can provide
  23. Hey everyone, would appreciate any help you can give. I got an email today saying a scan had been sent, I had actually been sending scans today, so I opened it up and only noticed after that the sender was this ranom one, and I opened the word doc on my iphone, saw that it was blank and thought I had sent a blank scan, so I opened it on office online, via the outlook email, I didn't download it, but it did save to my one driive (i have deleted it from the recycling bin on there), whilst opening on my Firefox browser, I didn't download it, I pressed view online and I think I may have pressed "allow edit". Can someone tell me how I can find out if macros are enabled on my computer / online Office / Word account ? I have downloaded Farbar Recovery Scan Tool & Hitman Pro , I am also currently running a Malware Anti Bytes scan , do I need to run a scan off the exploit app too? What do I do next ?? Have I been infected ? Are my passwords & banking info at risk? Thank you for the help, not only on this issue, but for providing great help in general..
  24. Thank you What are those drives with the different letters? I only know the D and C drives as my dvd-rom & the other as my hard drive. What are the X , Y & E drives? I've never see them before, only when I pressed custom scan
  25. Hi guys, I was using a very old laptop for years, recently got a new one. I just have a few questions about running a scan. 1. Should I scan for rootkits? 2. The custom scan shows a bunch of drives and folders that I never saw on my old laptop (new one is running latest Windows available to public. I have the following drives visible, can someone explain what they are? OS (C:) D: ESP (E:) < this had a "en-us" folder & a EFI folder, which has subfolders (Boot, Dell, Microsoft) WINRETOOLS (X:) < subfolders of BOOT, recovery, system vol info PBR Image (Y:) - < subfolders of AfterReset, Dell, Preload, System Vol Info I apologise if the questions I asked are stupid, I just wanted to find out what this stuff meant. I did a google search for the ESP one, and one of the google results said it was a keylogger, is that right? Any help would be appreciated
