  1. Hey everyone. A few points of clarity around how and when to get MB5. Right now it’s only available via manually downloading and then installing. This is intended for new / first time users as well as those that want to manually update on their own. Grab the update here: Windows and Mac. For automatic or manual (you pushing the update button) updates via MB4, we’re in the process of testing this and for 99.99985% of you, it’s not available yet. :) Over the coming weeks we’ll be expanding this and then eventually opening up both automatic and manual upgrades. Please keep your questions and feedback coming in!

  4. It's an official version and we support it just like any other app we make. :) We're carefully and purposely rolling it out like this to ensure it's working for our millions of users.
  5. It's not fully released yet. We'll be sure to share more once it is. :) Please see my previous update here:
  6. Yep, we'll be releasing MB5 for both Windows and Mac in the early part of 2024. :)
  7. Nice! Yeah, the UI instantly loading is one of my favorite enhancements too! Thanks for continuously testing and providing us feedback.
  8. Love that you caught this change! We're currently offering MB5 to some new users as we continue on the path to make this available for everyone. Additionally, if you're a current MB4 user and you'd like to update on your own, you can do so by manually installing (via this link). Please note that we are still working on some migration aspects so certain things might not fully work just yet (e.g. certain license types won't allow VPN to be purchased / activated / used). And yes, you can consider us out of beta for MB5 which means you'll see both regular and beta updates just like you currently do for MB4. We do not have date yet for when we'll release MB5 to both all new and all existing users. As we get closer to that date, we'll be sure to keep y'all informed. Lastly, it'd be awesome if you tried out MB5 and then shared your feedback with us.
  9. Malwarebytes Announces Consumer Identity Theft Protection Solution to Defend Against Online Fraud and Theft New offering provides comprehensive security protection alongside credit and financial monitoring, alerts and recovery services to keep personal information safe and secure Santa Clara, Calif. – October 25, 2023 – Malwarebytes, a global leader in real-time cyber protection, today launched an essential new consumer solution, Identity Theft Protection. The new service helps individuals secure their digital identities and defend against identity and online threats. Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection includes real-time identity monitoring and alerts, robust credit protection and reporting and live agent-supported identity recovery and resolution services – backed by up to a $2 million identity theft insurance policy. The new service, paired with Malwarebytes’ award-winning antivirus and VPN software, helps prevent criminals from stealing or using personal information to drain financial accounts, hack or impersonate social media accounts, damage a user’s reputation or other online and identity-based attacks. Today’s digital life is complex and sometimes deceptive. According to new research from Malwarebytes, identity theft ranks as people’s third biggest concern when it comes to online security, just behind fear of financial accounts and personal data being breached – both of which play into identity theft. Of those surveyed 64% agree that identity theft protection is important, but only 13% have it. Consumers are also increasingly fearful of new technology. Malwarebytes gives consumers protection they can trust, alerting them when we see their information has been stolen and providing live agent support to restore their identity and replace lost items. “Even as we spend more and more of our lives online, we all know that the internet today can’t be trusted,” said Mark Beare, GM of Consumer Business Unit, Malwarebytes. “Consumers need a tool that not only blocks threats like malware and phishing, but that also monitors and protects their digital identity, be that social media profiles, bank accounts or email. With Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection, we provide a robust and exhaustive suite of services so individuals and families can rest easy knowing that we are actively working to keep them safe and protect their digital identity.” Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection is available globally through a variety of tiered offerings that provide protection via computers and mobile devices across multiple operating systems including Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Key features include: Identity Monitoring & Alerts: Continuously scours a multitude of websites and data sources, including the Dark Web, to alert if personal information is being illegally traded or sold. Recommends actions to take to protect yourself. Credit Monitoring and Protection: Ongoing tracking of credit for critical changes, such as new accounts or inquiries and applications for new lines of credit. A credit freeze also can be activated*. Breach IQ: Provides a safety score and alerts if personal information is part of a known breach*. Identity Recovery & Resolution: Assistance in the event of an identity theft incident, including guided steps to report the crime, dispute fraudulent charges, restore identity and recuperate financial losses incurred. Includes up to a $2 million insurance policy. 10. Acquisition underscores Malwarebytes’ commitment to providing both security and privacy to help customers navigate today’s complex digital landscape Santa Clara, Calif. – August 24, 2023 – Malwarebytes, a global leader in real-time cyber protection, announced the acquisition of Cyrus, a disruptive innovator in online privacy solutions. This strategic acquisition reinforces Malwarebytes’ commitment to privacy by giving users more control over their information, no matter where or how they choose to browse and interact online. The Cyrus team and technology will also help Malwarebytes strengthen its mobile privacy solutions. “We firmly believe that data privacy is a human right. Hackers, trackers, location data and even browsing history are information that individuals should control,” said Marcin Kleczynski, co-founder and CEO of Malwarebytes. “The innovative technology Cyrus has built will allow us to better advise our customers on the intersection of privacy and security while also providing us the tools to safeguard their personal data and online privacy.” “By leveraging Cyrus’ cutting-edge technology, we can provide an even more holistic, mobile-first, experience that provides context to when, why and how users may be at risk,” said Mark Beare, the General Manager of Malwarebytes’ Consumer Business Unit. “The acquisition underscores our mission to provide world-class cybersecurity and privacy solutions and is a logical continuum for our portfolio expansion from Premium Security to Privacy VPN and Browser Guard.” The Cyrus technology looks at security and privacy in a new way, exploring the kill chain for consumer threats – considering social media, dark web content and overall online presence to form a correlated view of threats specific to each individual, helping flag early indicators that something is awry. “In an era where the digital landscape is increasingly dangerous for consumers, joining forces with Malwarebytes is a pivotal step toward realizing our mission and vision,” said Oren Arar, CEO of Cyrus. “Through this powerful collaboration, we are uniquely positioned to protect millions of people across the world from cybercrime. Our combined strengths will empower individuals to navigate the digital realm with newfound confidence and security.” As part of the acquisition, all Cyrus employees joined Malwarebytes, ensuring a seamless transition for customers and continuous innovation in the areas of mobile and online privacy. 11. We feel confident in the updated build for Malwarebytes 4 Premium and Teams so we decided to make this available to all users today versus next week. You can either wait for it to be installed automatically or you can manually update it yourself. Important notes: If you manually disabled Exploit Protection and/or anti-exploit protection for Chrome, you will need to manually enable these If anti-exploit protection for Chrome was disabled automatically for you via Update package version 1.0.70914, you don't need to do anything as the update will re-enable this To get the latest update, do this: Open Malwarebytes -> look for the Settings gear in the top right -> About -> Check for updates and follow the prompts To verify you have the right version, head back to the About tab and look for these: Malwarebytes version 4.5.31.270 Component version: 1.0.2047 If you need to manually enable Exploit Protection, do this: Open Malwarebytes -> look in the Real-Time Protection card on the dashboard and toggle on Exploit Protection If you need to manually enable anti-exploit protection for Chrome, do this: Open Malwarebytes -> look for the Settings gear in the top right -> Security and scroll to the bottom Under Exploit Protection, click Manage protected applications - > toggle on Google Chrome (and plug-ins) and click done Thanks again for everyone's patience on this and let us know if you see any issues.
  12. Here's today's update on the issue. Malwarebytes 4 Premium and Teams We have released a temporary fix to automatically resolve conflicts with Chrome in Malwarebytes 4 Premium and Teams. The temporary fix will automatically disable anti-exploit protection for Chrome as suggested in the knowledge base article we published yesterday. This is only meant to be a temporary fix so that users are able to launch Chrome again. This patch will automatically roll out to Windows 11 users only via Update package version 1.0.70914 when the product checks for updates - by default this check is performed on an hourly basis. You can verify you've got the right update package version by doing this: Open Malwarebytes -> look for the Settings gear in the top right -> About and look for these: Malwarebytes version 4.5.30.269 Update package version: 1.0.70914 or higher Next week, we're targeting to release another update that will both re-enable anti-exploit protection for Chrome and ensure the conflicts are fully resolved. If you want to get a beta version of this build early, you can follow the beta instructions above. Nebula / OneView We have a temporary fix in place to automatically resolve the conflicts with Google Chrome and we'll be deploying this today, June 15th, 2023, from 18:30-20:30 UTC. As part of this fix, we'll be migrating the policies to disable "Google Chrome" in the Protected Applications section of Exploit settings. To confirm this update, simply visit your policy page and check for the changes under Protected Applications in Exploit settings. Over the next few weeks, we'll be actively working on a permanent solution to re-enable the setting and completely resolve the conflict between Google Chrome and Anti-Exploit.
  13. Want to share an update on where we're at with this issue and what you can do right now to resolve the issue. Malwarebytes 4 We've got a fix ready via a beta build as well as we're working on something a bit more automated and we'll share that tomorrow. To get the beta build, please do this: Open Malwarebytes -> look for the Settings gear in the top right -> General -> scroll down and enable beta updates Then, go to About -> Check for updates and follow the updating prompts To verify you're on the correct beta build, go back to Settings -> About and look for these: Malwarebytes version: 4.5.31.270 Component version: 1.0.2047 or higher If you do not want to use the beta build, you can continue to use the same KB from earlier: https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/17571529651475 Nebula / OneView We've got a policy change in testing right now and we're targeting to release this tomorrow. More on that as soon as it's ready. For now, continue to use the same KB from earlier: https://service.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/17569022886803 Thanks for your patience as we work through this.
  14. We're currently experiencing issues with Malwarebytes Exploit Protection and Chrome in Windows 11 where you'll see Chrome crash. We suspect this is happening due to a Windows Update (KB5027231) that was released on June 13, 2023. We're actively troubleshooting this and we'll be back with more info as soon as possible. As a temporary workaround, please do this: Malwarebytes 4: https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/17571529651475 Nebula / OneView: https://service.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/17569022886803
  15. The Malwarebytes product continuously checks in with our database to make sure users have protection from the latest threats. During this normal process, some Malwarebytes Mobile Security for Android and Malwarebytes for Business for Android users may have experienced an issue that caused the app to attempt to download the update repeatedly. Customers remained fully protected and the issue is now resolved. Users do not need to take any action. We have taken steps to make sure this doesn't happen in the future. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience. Any impacted customers with additional questions can contact Malwarebytes Support.

  22. Want to let everyone know that we resolved the corrupt database issue on Jun 6, 2023 at 9:58:12a UTC. No action is required on your part. Our teams are currently investigating the incident and we’ll be in touch with more info shortly. Thanks for your patience as we sort through this.
  23. We're seeing some issues with our notification system and mostly for trial users and marketing messages. We targeted this build to rule out a variety of changes we made related to these issues. We also pushed this build for new users / installs to help accelerate our learnings. It will remain up on our site for at least the next few days as we continue to troubleshoot. You can safely use the versions higher than 4.5.24. :)
  24. Hey everyone. We're currently testing a few things with our 4.5.24 and 4.5.27 builds and the experience you're seeing here is expected. As of late Thursday (Apr 27) and still today, what's being served up by malwarebytes.com and our support tool is version 4.5.24 and this will not upgrade past this version (for now). Prior to that, it was version 4.5.27. Both versions get regular definition updates and you'll remain protected.
