  1. Eagle, System seems to be working normally... I think I'm due for an OS update... Thanks again!
  2. Oops... two last things to note: 1) On reboot, there's the option for booting normal mode, recovery mode, or debug (the debug mode warns not to choose that mode?) - I have not seen the debug before all this occurred 2) After any reboot, my browser defaults the home page to about:blank, but I am about to change it and the setting stays (even after closing and reopening the browser). However, as soon as I shut down the system and boot back up, the browser is back to "about:blank". Any ideas on both?
  3. Seems like everything is pretty normal. I've reinstalled BitDefender without any problems, can browse without webpage redirection, and system restore is operating as usual. I appreciate the help! Any ideas which malware I may have picked up?
  4. Ran FRST with the fixlist.txt. Fixlog.txt is attached. When I ran the BitDefender removal tool, Windows firewall asked if I wanted to continue blocking "pcsftool.exe" - I unblocked it, but the removal tool had with an error "executing additional tools" and ended up looping (screenshot attached). I closed the uninstall tool after a few iterations. Fixlog.txt
  5. Forgot to re-run FRST after posting status on last reply. Just ran it now - FRST.txt and addition.txt attached. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  6. I tried to reinstall my BitDefender Suite but it failed to install completely, ending with an error. I tried to uninstall whatever portion(s) had been installed, but again, there was an error. I booted to safe mode under the Administrator account and was able to uninstall the whatever traces of BitDefender existed. I also noticed, however, is that while in safe mode under the Administrator account, when viewing my user accounts (Administrator, Unoy, and Guest), Unoy cannot be changed to "Limited", as the option is greyed out - is this normal? So I'm still left with being unable to install or use an A/V suite as before.
  7. Turns out that Bitdefender, not Malwarebytes, was still running in the background - I couldn't uninstall it with a normal bootup so had to uninstall it in safe mode before rerunning ComboFix. Everything went smoothly this time and Combofix.txt was generated (attached). Also ran Zoek without any problems with zoek-results.log generated (attached). What's next? Thanks. ComboFix.txt zoek-results.log
  8. Hi TwinHeadedEagle, Thanks for taking this post. I disabled Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (per above) as well as the self-protection and startup on boot, then rebooted. But when I ran ComboFix, it still noted that Malwarebytes was active, but I continued anyway. Combofix seemed to have gone through all it's functions but after it rebooted, it's been stuck for more than 2 hours on "Preparing Log Report. Do not run any programs until ComboFix has finished." No Combofix.txt file has been generated and the window remains open. I did notice however, that I can now change my default browser homepage, but I am still unable to start my antivirus. Should I reboot and re-start Combofix?
  9. Hi, I just noticed IE defaulting to about:blank and so attempted to perform a system restore to a day or two earlier. However, I'm getting a "System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run System Restore again." Rebooting and rerunning results in the same outcome. I also noticed that my antivirus (bitdefender) is no longer working and cannot be started. Trying to reboot into safe mode or safe mode with a command prompt will not work because the serial (ps2) optical mouse led remains off and the keyboard is non-responsive. However, I can use safe more with networking without this problem. Once in safe mode, system restore still doesn't work, nor can I start my antivirus. I've already run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but no malware is found and my issues persist. Summary of issues: 1) about:blank hijacks my homepage 2) system restore doesn't work (trying to start from within services.msc results in "error 2: The system cannot find the file specified") 3) antivirus cannot be started either in normal or safe mode bootup 4) mouse issues with safe mode (with networking is the only one that works) I'm not certain that all of these issues are related or addressable here, but any help would be appreciated. Should I suspect malware worse than just the about:blank hijack? Thanks! FRST.txt Addition.txt
