  1. So I was doing some routine maintenance on my wifes computer( down loaded the latest version of MalwareBytes ) and I thought I should do the same for my desktop. I had K-Lab running on my machine and the license was about to be up. I was guilty of not keeping my MalwareBytes up to date I still had the red icon, ( 800 and something days since the last scan or update ) So I updated the software and ran it...well I got a lot of "pup.optional.spigot.a" being caught and every now and then I would click on the window to see if there was anything else besides the PUP...well there wasn't. Then those windows started to state in the top of the bar, "Not Responding" so I attempted to close it...no luck. I tried to close the main window...no luck. Well no biggie I'll use the windows task bar to restart the computer...waited like 5 mintues, no change...got frustrated cause now my whole computer was in a frozen state. Now the screen went a lighter color than the normal default colors...SO I MANUELLY shut it down and booted it back up. The 1st attempt I got the normal start up, up in till the screen switches to my home screen, now its black. I did this two more times got the same results. I started it in safe mode, and things appeared to be normal. I uninstalled the version of MalwareBytes and FireFox that was updating while MalwareBytes was running. I attempted to reinstall MalwareBytes because I thought well maybe something went wrong with the install, however now it froze again, but earlier!!!...so I uninstalled it again, like I had before then I restarted it, and boom, everything was working...or was it? I mean over all the computer was ok, however It was running a bit slower( I have 8 gigs of ram, and AMD Quad 965 processor cant remember the video card but I run with two screens ) I almost thought it was in my head. Well I ran Avast full scan, and this took almost 8 hours, and it came back empty? how odd...I mean MalwareBytes found at least 30 things earlier before it crashed. Now I've read various things online about similar issues and I am at my wits end with this issue. Thank you for taking the time to review my issue and any input is welcomed. -Micky.
