  1. Hello-- Just to add to what Firefox said above, our QA team has tested and verified that the update notifications for scheduled updates do indeed work as expected after an upgrade to Windows 10. If you're not seeing this behavior it's best to do a clean reinstall and if that doesn't help, then provide the diagnostic logs as everyone's suggested. This helps so that we have all the necessary detail on any environmental issues that could be contributing to the problem, so we know exactly what to look for on other systems if we start to receive more reports of the same.
  2. Hi LeVvE-- Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback here...I appreciate it! I agree we could certainly improve the context menu icon handling, so I've made a note of this. Hopefully we'll get this spruced up in a future release.
  3. Hello, all-- Apologies that you're running into this problem with Malicious Website Protection not being enabled! We are aware of a few issues with LUA that our development team are actively looking into. We definitely appreciate the information you've all provided here regarding your experiences and how to reproduce the problem. It's been extraordinarily helpful! While we we're still investigating the root cause here, we do hope to have a fix for this in our next patch release which we're looking to send out just as quickly as possible.. We understand that this is an important issue and I appreciate your patience as we work towards getting a fix
  4. Hello-- We have had other reports of this issue and our development team is looking into it. We hope to have a fix for this behavior in our next patch release, however I can't give you an exact date of when that new version will be available. I can say thought that we are hoping to release it just as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and please know this issue is receiving our attention.
  5. Hello-- Hopefully I can clarify. The "Advanced Settings" referred to here are indeed only available to Premium and Trial users. But most of those settings, including "Automatically quarantine" and "Start MBAM with Windows" don't even apply to the Free version. The way it's currently presented in the interface is rather confusing because it does make it seem like those options are pre-checked and enabled for Free with no ability to disable. However, those settings that you see grayed out are simply the default values that would be enabled were you to upgrade to the Premium version. The Free version runs scans on-demand only and thus offers no real-time protection. As such, it doesn't automatically start with Windows. You must always launch it whenever you want to run a scan. This hasn't changed. Same with automatic quarantine. This option only refers to any threats detected as part of the Premium product's real-time protection. Since there is no real-time protection in Free, this one also doesn't apply. I've made a note of the confusion the way it's handled in the UI has caused and we'll see if we can improve this in a later update. Hope that helps -- there have been absolutely no recent changes to the Free version regarding these settings and the way the Free version behaves.
  6. Hi PaulL-- Sorry that you're running into this issue! We're aware of the problems when viewing MBAM in high-contrast, and we'll definitely be addressing it, but probably not until our next larger full version release (e.g. MBAM 3.0). We have many accessibility issues planned for that release, with better high-contrast support being one of them.
  7. All that was removed in v 2.1.8 was the Exclude button on the actual "Malicious Website Detected" alert. But we left the other tray menu option I described above so that you can still easily exclude the site as needed. I was just pointing out an alternative way of excluding a site that you may not have known about.
  8. Hi nomalware-- We actually did just that. After you get an alert on a site and you determine you want to add it to the Web Exclusions list, simply right-click the MBAM tray icon. You'll see an entry in the tray menu "Add (website address) to Web Exclusions" like this: Just click that menu item and it'll add the site to Exclusions. This option's actually been in the product for some time, but not many people even know it's there because it's definitely a little hidden.
  9. Hi JokesOnYou-- I just sent you a PM asking for some info to be sent to me via PM. And then the best course of action after that would be to contact our Support team here: https://support.malwarebytes.org/customer/portal/emails/new?b_id=6438 They'll be able to get you straightened out. Thanks!
  10. Thanks, Tabvla. We appreciate your help and continued support. And I certainly understand your clients' concerns. But what if one of your clients had purchased one of these licenses from someone in good faith, believing they were being honest and doing the right thing? They should not be penalized. It's these users we're trying to help with the program, not the pirates.
  11. Hi Tabvla-- As you're probably aware, of last year Malwarebytes stopped selling lifetime licenses completely and we now only sell subscription-based licenses. There may be some confusion because we currently have a temporary program in place that is designed to help some of our existing Lifetime License customers who may have unknowingly purchased a bad license. Unfortunately many of these customers purchased from unauthorized resellers who were selling counterfeit or otherwise unauthorized license keys. We’re offering these customers a chance to transfer their old license key to a new replacement key that is fully and correctly provisioned in our licensing system. This way we can better protect their license and prevent any future unauthorized abuse on their unique key going forward. Hope that clears up any confusion!
  12. Thank you Whitman and Acrobaze for the very kind words! It's always encouraging to hear such great feedback on MBAM--whether it's about functionality, design or successfully helping someone out of a tough spot due to a malware infection. Makes all the hard work worthwhile!
  13. Hello everyone-- Just wanted to let everyone know that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware v. 2.1.8.1057 is now posted for general availability from our main www.malwarebytes.org website. If you download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware now from the site you should receive v. 2.1.8.1057. And you'll see this version listed in Release History as well. We've appreciated your feedback on the release so far, so please continue to post questions or report any issues in our main Help forum here. Thank you!
  14. Hello clower_element-- Glad the rootkit scan options are working again properly for your scheduled scans. I've made a note to look into that to see if we can reproduce the behavior here. For Hyper scans, however, it's a different issue. Scanning for rootkits was never intended to be an option for Hyper Scans, and so this was actually fixed as of our latest release--Malwarebytes Anti-Malware v. 2.1.8.1057. You'll see the item listed in "Issues Fixed" in our Release Announcement : "Disabled option to specify rootkit scanning as part of a Hyper scan" Hyper Scans are supposed to be very quick checks of your system for any malware that's actively running. So we specifically limit the areas we scan and intentionally don't allow for rootkit scans, full file system scans, or other options that typically involve longer scan times. So it's actually expected that "Rootkits" would show as "Disabled" in your logs for Hyper Scans. If you want to include rootkit scanning, then creating a schedule Threat Scan would be all you'd need to do. And sounds like you have that already, and the option is working again properly, so you should be fine. Hope that helps,
  15. Hi Red-- As always, there is no issue with legitimately purchased licenses. There are no "replacement" keys for legitimately purchased licenses, so there's nothing you need to do here. These keys will continue to work exactly the same way they did for you in the past. You should be able to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and re-activate both those licenses whenever you're ready (assuming they aren't actively in use on any other system at the time). And hopefully whatever the issue is with Avast! SafeZone is resolved sooner rather than later!
  16. There are still a number of legitimate lifetime licenses being sold through resellers through our various retail channel and affiliate partners. So it's entirely possible to obtain a legitimate lifetime license, usually at a price around $24.95 USD (give or take). So this downloadcrew offer could very well be completely legitimate. And when I look at the purchase link for the site it appears to redirect to our ecommerce provider, cleverbridge, with an affiliate code so that's further evidence that it's a legitimate offer. The offers to be leery of are the ones where the price is ridiculously low - like pennies on the dollar. These are almost always fake and these sites are selling counterfeit keys. The quickest way for you to tell would be to simply install the latest version of the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software, v. 2.1.8.1057 by downloading from this link. Enter your key and activate as you normally would. (Or, simply install over the earlier version.) You'll be able to see your key details, including duration, on the My Account screen. If it is a lifetime license, it will say Lifetime. The program referred to in betanews and Venture Beat articles only applies to pirated or counterfeit keys, so legitimate keys aren't converted at all and are honored at their original terms. Hope that helps.
  17. To clarify, legitimately purchased old style keys that have an ID and a Key will continue to work going forward, so no issues there. You'll use the same key you always have. We're moving to the key-only format for any brand new keys generated from this point forward.
  18. Hello! Glad you were able to walk through the process to get a new key assigned. Do you recall exactly where you saw the language about "emailing" the key? We state that we will issue you a new key, but I don't believe there's anything about emailing. Sorry for any confusion there - I could see how it could be interpreted that way. But to answer your question, yes, you should record your new single key somewhere where you'll be able to access it again should you ever need to reinstall. The new key is the only one you should use going forward. Your old key will be disabled soon and will no longer work, so it won't be any good to you down the road anyway.
  19. There are still older-style keys that are selling through the channel, so no need to worry. Eventually though, you should see more of the Key-only style going forward.
  20. What you're seeing is normal. Our old legacy key formats had several variations, which required both an ID and a Key. Going forward, all our new keys only have the Key part - we no longer use ID.
  21. Hi NathanS-- When you say you no longer have that option, what do you mean? Did it crash before or after you selected an option? If the program is running in Premium mode, simply click on the My Account tab and make a note of your new key listed in that window. If the program has reverted to Free mode, simply click Activate and re-enter your old key to complete the process.
  22. We hope to post the full installer link some time this week. In the meantime, we'll be regularly pushing more updates so you may see the prompt to install the version soon anyway.
  23. LOL - No offense to all my PR friends and colleagues, but not sure how I should take this...
  24. Hi rwharold-- Sorry you ran into this issue! I also just tried to reproduce this with the 2.1.8.1057 and was unable to. However, we did deal with those exact types of resizing issues during the development cycle. I thought we had them nailed, but seems there's still a glitch somewhere so we'll dig in deeper and see if we can find out what we missed. In the meantime, if this happens again, rather than having to perform a full reinstall you should be able to right-click on the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware tray icon and choose "Exit." Then simply re-launch the program. This action usually resets everything back to the correct default size.
  25. Hi PostHEX-- Thanks for your comments on this issue. While the nefarious cases you describe can and do indeed happen in rare cases, it's really the exception rather than the rule. But hiding the license information from the very user who owns it, on the other hand, causes tremendous confusion and frustration among our users. It thus far has ended up causing more problems than it's probably preventing. Not to mention other general Support cases where users are asked to provide their license key - this is a daily occurrence. And it takes far too long now for us to get down to the business of helping users due to problems finding their key. That being said, we do already have plans to extend the Access Policy protection to offer a way for this information to be locked for those who want it. Options being considered include extending what's included in “Licensing” (in Access Policy) to cover the entire My Account tab instead of only Change License and Deactivate. Or, alternatively we could have a link that toggles between Show / Hide Key and that link could be protected through Access Policy. Happy to consider other options / suggestions as well.
