  2. Thanks Kevin - I do have access to another laptop/usb so I will follow these instructions tonight when I am in from work. Will report back then.

Hi there, My notebook is experiencing the following issues; When computer is started in either normal, or safe-mode, within seconds of start-up an error appears to advise that explorer.exe has stopped working and will be closed. This leaves me with a blank screen. Even when explorer.exe is re-started using CMD, it fails within seconds. I am also unable to get Malwarebytes running - even when I go in from safe-mode with command prompt - I CD into the Malwarebytes folder and have tried running both normal MBAM and also chameleon. Scanning normally usually lasts around 10 seconds before an error message appears, and on Chameleon its around 50 seconds before the same happening. I am stuck as I cannot run any programs, I cannot install any new programs - I don't see how I can fix without reverting to a full format and re-install of windows. Notebook runs on Windows 7, Is there any hope?
