  1. Did you take a look at these logs? Posted 27 November 2014 - 04:35 AM Here are the cleanups I ran. I am not sure which one was first or last. John
  2. Mr. C, I am trying to get spyware blaster, but all I am finding are websites that want me to complete their "free" offers to download. Can you tell me who the legitimate site is for this software? Thank you, John
  3. Here are the cleanups I ran. I am not sure which one was first or last. John AdwCleanerR0.txt JRT.txt RKreport_SCN_11212014_071612.log AdwCleanerR0.txt
  4. I ran the chkdsk but it did not help. I suspected that some of the start up items or registry entries were slowing the computer down because the files and executable referenced in the start up items were missing due to your excellent help to clean the machine. I went ahead and told the adwcleaner program to fix the items it found (problem log is in an earlier post). The startup has gone from 7-20 minutes down to about 3 minutes so that appears to have been the right choice. One final issue I am dealing with. I am trying to restore my files from my backup drive, but my script keeps giving me errors. Sometimes it says it can't find the file sometimes it says it can't find the destination, but when I browse there or use the run line with the same path the file opens up. Any ideas on good copy programs that will take a text file source and destination name? Thank you, John
  5. Thanks for checking! The startup was not slow before we started this process, but it now takes 7-20 minutes to start. What can we do to take a look at why it has changed so dramatically. Thank you.
  6. Mr. C, Thank you VERY much for your assistance. I have learned a great deal from you on this. I saw the posts about the different classes that are availabe to start learning this specialized area of support. What are your thoughts on where I should send a couple of my guys first or what would be your preferred order of training? Thank you, John
  7. here is FRST scan Also have a AdwCleaner scan and a JRT scan also the computer is incredibly slow to start about 7-10 minutes whereas it was not like that a month ago. Addition.txt FRST.txt AdwCleanerR0.txt JRT.txt
  8. Mr. C, -----> I took a look at these recommendations, but they say you are running XP. Do these need to be updated or do you still have the same recommendations? A good security plan: An anti-virus program, a firewall (For XP) - (Vista and Windows 7 firewalls are OK), an anti-malware program that provides realtime protection, keep the registry backed up (mainly for XP), and install the Windows XP Recovery Console. What do I use and recommend: (I'm using XP pro) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro (provides realtime protection) AVAST (anti-virus) PC Tools firewall (for XP)... (Vista and W7 firewalls are OK) SpywareBlaster Google Chrome Keep the registry backed up XP Recovery Console WOT OpenDNS Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit HitmanPro's CryptoGuard -----> Just to understand, you have all 8 of these programs running? -----> Does HitmanPro also cover CryptoLocker, or do I need CryptoPrevent tool also? Thank you, John
  9. No, I scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials and it found more viruses. What else can I do to ensure the system is clean? Thank you
  10. Had to run appwiz.cpl as administrator to get it to unsinstall Catalina Savings Printer without errors. Here is my latest fixlog. Fixlog.txt
