  1. It seems to be getting stuck on this update (it sits at "0% Downloaded").
  2. So I've been looking into svhost.exe and ended up running procexp.exe (i.e. Processor Explorer). It turns out when svhost.exe kicks into 50% of CPU power, I can get rid of that condition by stopping "Service: wuauserv, Display Name: Windows Update, Path: C:\Windows\system32\wuaueng.dll. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
  3. I couldn't find the individual tasks in the Resource Monitor (svhost.exe was listed though).
  4. FYI, the 50% svchost.exe has the following tasks: svchost.exe AeLookupSvc, Appinfo, BITS, Browser, EapHost, IKEEXT, iphlpsvc, LanmanServer, MMCSS, ProfSvc, RasMan, Schedule, seclogon, SENS, ShellHWDetection, Themes, Winmgmt, wuauserv Jim
  5. I removed Java (it was Java 8 91), and ran JavaRA-1.16 (log attached). svhost.exe is still pulling 50% CPU. Jim JavaRa.log
  6. I got through Step 7. ESET claimed to have found 2 infected files, but it hanged, so I ended the task (see ESET Screen in attached Word Document). After running AdwCleaner, I didn't see the svhost.exe taking 50% of the CPU, but now its back. Jim EsetHang.docx JRT.txt AdwCleaner[C1].txt Addition.txt FRST.txt
  7. Okay, I'll check it out and get back to you. FYI, svchost.exe taking 50% of my CPU annoying, but is not my main concern. Occasionally ALL of my Internet Explorer passwords get wiped out causing me to re-enter them. My laptop never used to do this. Makes me think that I have malware trying to mine for my passwords. Anyway, thanks for all your help so far. Jim
  8. I ran the scans and there were no threats found. I've attached log files. I'm still seeing svchost.exe taking 50% CPU. FYI, here's what I see when I <Right Click> "Go to Services" on the svchost.exe Process. mbam_protection_log.txt mbam_scan_log.txt Rkill.txt
  9. Also, I just saw this today. An Internet Explorer Window popped up that was made to look like the "Set Network Location" Window. It was asking my to connect to a similar name to my Wireless Network.
  10. svchost.exe task taking 50% of the cpu. Also, my passwords are getting wiped out (as if something is trying to force me to enter passwords over and over). I've ran Norton Security Suite, Malware Bytes with nothing found. I have attached the farbar files. Thanks, Jim Addition.txt FRST.txt
  11. Okay, I reset internet-explorer. We'll see if my passwords stick now.
  12. The problem is #2 above. In the past, as long as I don't log out, I would never have to re-enter my password. Now every couple of days I have to re-enter all of my passwords, even though I never logged out.
  13. I never have Windows remember my passwords, I believe there are two processes going on here. 1) Windows asks if you want it to remember the password (which I always decline). This kicks in when you log off, and then when you log back in, Windows automatically fills in the password so you don't have to remember it. 2) When I log in normally, the password is saved in the cache and as long as I don't log out, I don't have to enter my password again.
  14. I know my passwords and can log back in. I've only noticed this with Internet Explorer (but I normally didn't have to do this on a regular basis like now). I don't use other browsers much.
  15. I have several websites that require a password (email, forums, etc.). I usually never have to re-enter passwords (with the exception of email which requires me to re-enter every two weeks). Lately, every couple of days, I have had to re-enter all of them. It reminded me of when I got a nasty virus back in November of 2014. I was constantly having to enter passwords because I think that virus was trying to intercept them. It was also throwing up a bunch of "dllhost.exe COM Surrogate" Tasks that were eating up my CPU and Memory. I'm not seeing that this time around.
  16. Here are FRST.txt & Addition.txt. FRST.txt Addition.txt
  17. Thanks for getting back to me. I'll reply to your instructions in my next post. A couple questions before we start. 1) If we find something, will you tell me what the issue was? Last time I went through this, problem was fixed, but I never knew what virus / malware I had. 2) It may take me more than three days to reply at times. Would I be able to open this thread up again if that happens? Thanks, Jim
  18. Last few times I started up Windows 7, all of my sites that require a password are asking for password. I scanned with Norton Security Suite and Malwarebytes and it is still happening.
  19. >> Did you run rkill? Yes, "RKreport_SCN_11102014_210306.log should be in my last attached zip file. Does everything look clean? Strange how I had the dllhost.exe problem a few days ago but it didn't stick (I didn't have it the next day before I contacted you again). Does that happen where a website maybe fire up the dllhost.exe's but it doesn't make it onto my hard drive? Regards, Jim
  20. Okay so I ran the two apps. ESETPoweliksCleaner reported "Threat Not Found. You don't have Win32/Poweliks in you system." Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit BETA v1.08.0.1001 reported "Scan Finished: No malware found!" I let my PC run for a while yesterday and I found it loaded up with "dllhost.exe COM Surrogate" tasks. So far this isn't happening today??? Do those apps need to have those multiple dllhost.exe tasks running to find the virus or can it find the virus that starts them up?
  21. So the dllhost.exe COM Surrogate problem is back. I've got multiple tasks of this running and I just saw "Norton blocked an attach by Trojan.AdClicker" also saw a message about powelinks. That virus was removed a week ago and its back, how do I deal with this? Any help would be appreciated. Jim
