  1. Update: Without any restart or other activity, the full protection suite turned on. No longer an issue. [Interaction with Norton update suspected, not confirmed].
  2. After a Norton update I am unable to turn on the Malware Real-Time Protection:: Malware protection. Other protections work. Scan works. Using Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1. Maintenance tool logs attached. mbst-grab-results.zip
  3. How about the license issue? Can't find my key in the account section. I'll run the support tool on the new install in a bit and post it if the failure repeats.
  4. Close but .... Made it to the scan portion of the new install. Issues: Locked up about 1/3rd into scan. The installed version was the premium trial. Did NOT pick up my license. Downloaded 32-bit version. My machine is Win 8.1 64 bit. Never gave the choice. After failing on scan, (closed with task manager) it said I was protected and scan complete. Does not give me a warm fuzzy here.
  5. Accomplished update this morning (4-9-18). During shutdown for reboot, message appeared "unable to connect to service". Reboot continued. Malwarebytes did NOT restart on reboot. Checked files and they were there. Shortcut was there and pointed to *.exe. Tried to start with shortcut, same message. Tried to start from exe in directory, same message. Checked forum and did not find an issue that corresponded to Win 8.1. Downloaded FRST and mb-check. Ran both. Zip file is attached. mb-check-results.zip
  6. Update: Win 8.1 MB latest version, upgrade 2/1/17. Ended up turning off MB, reboot ( reboot, not a restart) and turning MB back on. All was good until this morning (2/6/17). Got the nag message. Tried a restart no help. Turned off MB, rebooted and restarted MB. Life is good again. Just going by the startup timing and such, there may be something to the sequencing of the startup. Mine usually goes into a scan on first start. Self Protection is turned off. Hope this helps trace this puppy down.
  7. For dcollins: See the mb-check log attached. Should I do the MB uninstall (Win 8.1) or do you guys have a better removal tool? I have all my information saved for license and such. Thanks. mb-checkResult.txt
  8. Same problem since "Upgrade". Version: 3.0.6.1469, Component package version: 1.0.50, Update package version: 1.0.1151. Opened a ticket 3 days ago with answer of "you are in the que". I did read that (another thread) that a TOTAL delete of the program and a reload worked. This also wipes out your settings and license info. Don't want to go this route if unnecessary. Hope we can get this fixed soon. I do think MB should credit premium users for not being able to use the portion of the program that we paid for. Thanks much.
  9. Many thanks for the input. This is exactly what I was looking for. Based on your comment, I may re-think the windows defender thing. I totally agree that two different AV's are a pain to manage. Reasons for choices are best left unsaid in public. Again, many thanks and I'll continue with your product.
  10. First post, so please bear with me if I'm in the wrong area. This one is trying to put all of the questions I have in one place: First: I have 2 computers, both 64 bit machines, one running MS 7 SP1 and one running latest MS 8.1. Both have Malwarebytes Premium loaded and running. The MS 7 SP1 machine has Norton Internet Security. The Win 8.1 Machine has trial version of McAffee running. So far, both machines are playing well with no exclusions used. Unfortunately, I'm getting ready to "change" (due to several reasons, none applicable to Malwarebytes). In getting ready for this, I'm trying to make sure I have the "sequence" understood. My browser is Google Chrome. I have set 2 limits (must use malwarebytes and must use Chrome). Second: I understand from reading several forums that Malwarebytes must be uninstalled prior to loading anti-virus software. I presume this means uninstall, re-install and re-activate with key? Just want to verify this is true before I waste a bunch of time. Can Malwarebytes simply be disabled during the AV install? Third: On the Win 7 machine, I'm going with the free version of Bitdefender. I can't get a straight answer out of their support team, so I'll use the free version. I presume that I would uninstall (turn off) Malwarebytes and uninstall Norton. Install Bitdefender and then re-install malwarebytes. I found the exception list and understand that part. Fourth: On the Win 8.1 machine, I'm going with Windows Defender. As defender is already installed (I think), I presume just a removal of the McAffee trail and defender activation. Malwarebytes would have to be "turned off"? Is there an exception list for Defender and Malwarebytes? As I said at the start, I apologize if this is in the wrong place; however, getting information in one location is a challenge. This is not a judgement on the effectiveness of the AV programs selected, this just seems the best solution for me. I would appreciate any input (or direction) to make this as painless as possible. Many thanks.
