  1. I'm new here and unfortunately I have the exact same problems as the posters above and seem to be infected with the same or similar bug. Every time I try and run a scan of MBAM or RootRepeal it stops shortly after it starts and then does not allow me to open the program again. When I do, I also get the "file could not be found or you do not have permission" error message. This is really bad. I fear I'm going to have to format the HD and perform a complete reinstall of XP Pro. Any help would really be appreciated. I even went and booted my PC with the Windows XP installation disk to boot into the Recovery Console and then typed in "DISABLE UACd.sys" at the prompt. It confirmed it was disabled but after, when I rebooted my PC normally, it still shuts down MBAM and RootRepeal. Renaming the exe files of these programs prior to installation and into a different directory gets them reinstalled again and I can open them. But one time of attempting to scan and the problem repeats itself (MBAM and Rootrepeal shut down less than a minute into scan and then does not allow me to open the program again). This is terrible and I have unplugged my Ethernet cable to make sure no inbound or outbound traffic is running to keep access restricted until I can figure out what to do. Help!
