Malwarebytes 5 Final Version in 2024
CristianCP replied to delphin136's topic in Malwarebytes 5 for Windows
I'd rather ask this in private. Edited. -
@Firefox For example I have it installed on an old laptop where I only had Windows Defender running before MB5 beta. I use that laptop for browsing news. reading, watching movies etc and some small older games. I don't run or have anything important on it and it's not daily connected to the internet either.

I am using the built in backup method of Windows 10. I didn't know about this Microsoft recommendation. Thank you for all the info and links posted above as well. I will read more about Macrium and I will most likely use it next month for a first backup. Thank you! These forums prove to be very helpful once again. All the best, Cris.

Hello! I am curious about this as well. First time hearing of Macrium. Is it easy to use?

Hello! I've got two suggestions for the UI if you would like to take note of. 1) Will offer the UI a more minimal look by closing the vertical left blue menu with buttons with the use of an arrow, so that you could only see the icons. 2) A check for updates button at hand. In MB4 and older versions the check for updates button feels a bit hidden, at least in my opinion. It's a bit harder to reach. I'd suggest a check for updates button on the left vertical menu. See the attached screenshots for an example. Thanks, Cristian.

Hello! First off, I would like to thank you for this opportunity. The new UI it's very user friendly and I like to see this. There are still many users who might not know how to set up an antivirus / security software and Security Advisor will help them a lot. I like it how every setting inside the Security Advisor it's well explained and easy to understand. I've seen something similar at BitDefender and I like this approach. (I've used BitDefender too a few years ago). Also, the interface it's a lot easier to navigate through compared to MB4. Every important setting it's at hand and smartly placed. On the running side. It is running very smooth on my old laptop. A well maintained Acer Aspire from 2010. It does not eat much memory so people who still own old laptops and PC's will be able to run it without worry. It doesn't lag at all. There's little to no delay while running it. That's all I can tell now at a first sight, it made a very good impression on me. I will do a first scan and continue to use my laptop as I normally do and if I find something which others didn't mention yet, I will return with another post. Thank you and all the best, Cristian.

@gonzo Hello! Firefox 102.0.1. It's not working on Firefox. Sadly, I noticed the post name and not the section named - Edge. My bad. No issues in Edge, I use it as well. It works well there. Thanks for the information, noted. I didn't know the program check itself, I was doing it myself manually once / day.

Hello! Mine is also acting up. It's the 2nd time this year. Last time it solved itself after checking again the next 2 days. It's nothing corrupted, it's just servers not responding along the route. I have even uninstalled it and reinstalled it to no avail 1 hour ago. Reset doesn't do anything either. Its update system is one of the worst I have found so far, sometimes it works sometimes it gives an error that it can't update. I'll keep using it since I didn't find anything better.

Thank you for your answer, very helpful. Yes, I have them blocked in Windows firewall as well, just in case. As for pfsense, I've heard about it before, it's a good choice and recommendation but I'll stick to my RT-AX56U for now until I learn more on how to create and work with a pfsense router.

Hello! I have also been through similar issues before I've installed a home wifi router. I was being probed once a few days through port 135 and Malwarebytes was blocking it successfully. I have followed most of the recommendations of @David H. Lipman before finding this thread but I am confused with one of the recommendations. If you would be so kind and explain it to me as I am not that experienced. That is : "Specifically set Firewall rules to BLOCK; TCP and UDP ports 135 ~ 139, 445, 1234, 3389 and 5555". How do I do this on a home wifi router such as an Asus RT-AX56U. From what I know, unsolicited router traffic coming from the WAN side / internet, will be automatically blocked by the router, so I don't have to set any rules on my router. Or am I wrong? I have only found an option to block LAN to WAN but this isn't what I was looking for. I can't find any option for a rule or filter list for the WAN side. Maybe it's a more advanced feature not found on home routers. I guess you meant to block these ports if I had a gateway. So the ISP should have these blocked on his side. Thank you and sorry for posting on a few days old thread. I am confused with ports blocking on a router from the WAN side.

Hello! Good to know that you have identified this bug and a fix is on the way. In the meanwhile, today after that clean install from yesterday the bug showed up again. Same behavior, clicking "view details" then "view settings" makes everything "green" and "fully protected". Screens so you can see the bug in action from me. Thanks, looking forward for the fix.

I have used the Malwarebytes Support Tool to clean uninstall Malwarebytes and to reinstall it back. One problem though, it also prompted me to install Malwarebytes Privacy which I did not pay for ask for without giving me the permission to refuse installing this VPN software. I do not use VPN at all because it's not really necessary in my situation so after reinstalling Malwarebytes I restarted PC and uninstalled Malwarebytes Privacy and Tunnel Driver afterwards. I have checked if the false warning that I am not full protected still shows up after a restart and it is no longer showing up wrongly. It is showing that I am fully protected without telling me to check firewall settings like it was before. That is for now. I will return tomorrow with a reply in case the bug reappears. Thank you!

Hi! For a few days now everytime I start or restart my PC, when I open Malwarebytes the new feature called "security advisor" informs me that I have Windows Defender Firewall OFF. Once I click the button "view details" it opens the Windows Firewall page in windows where I can see that everything is TURNED ON as I've set it like this for ages now. As soon as I close the Firewall page/window, Malwarebytes suddenly tells me I am now protected and everything is OK. Now this is really silly it doesn't detect the firewall as being on. I haven't touched any firewall setting in ages. Can you please tell me how to fix this bug? I remember there was a repair / uninstall and reinstall tool for Malwarebytes, could you provide me the link to the updated version of this tool? I can't seem to find it. Maybe something is not working properly detecting it in time. Thanks for helping me out.

Hi! Malwarebytes just detected a Trojan tonight after I launched my favorite MMO game. It says it is coming from this domain, see below. Also, accessing the game's forums also brings up the same block message. I'm certain something is going on here as I've never encountered malware messages coming while launching or playing this game. Could you please take a look? I am worried. Scans of my PC come out clean. HI! There's no problem, thank you for your time to investigate this.
-
What should I inform him? To check thoroughly again for malware and phishing?
-
My friend also says that this page doesn't exist on his website.
-
He wants to make sure his site is clean what can we do to help him?
-
Me and my friend also checked on VirusTotal and it came out completely clean: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/ff497a8573b09683b82ca8f02eb077cfabcca55c3f48436336ec6ec3986321ae/detection We checked without the "https://" What could be wrong?

Hi! A friend who's passionate of airplanes has his own website/blog which was disinfected by his website creators and now it is popping up as phishing. Could you please take a look and check if it is secure? He says it is a false positive and that his site it's clean now. From what I checked there's another website with the same name but with a different domain name ".fr" instead. I am not sure if he got inspired from that website. I'm contacting you because I already had an account here and a Malwarebytes Premium license and I thought I give him a hand writing this for him. Thanks!

Hello! A few days ago I've started playing "Don't starve together" game from Steam with my friend. As soon as I opened the "browse for servers / games" menu and while the servers were loading in the list, Malwarebytes started to block this IP: (123.160.10.212) and quite a few times. My friend who is using BitDefender said that his antivirus did not block it and called me a paranoid. Could you please check it? I am quite worried if it is false or true. I've provided 2 screenshots and a log file. I've scanned my PC, I am pretty sure it is clean. RTP detection 123.160.10.212.txt

This is a known problem from yesterday. Check and read the first post in this topic from "News" area of the forums.
