  1. Hello to All:

In addition to the above, I also ran a Full scan with unremarkable results.

I attempted to observe the database download speed improvement but It seems as before with excellent cable connection speeds with my ISP. Perhaps this is more observable with dial up.

Thank you for permitting us to help beta test.

  2. Hello to All:

I installed on top of v1.45 as requested. Rebooted, then updated from database 4040 to 4041.

Flash scanned in 3:06. Quick scanned in 15:39 - both with no positives or trouble.

Looking good so far on my XP Pro SP3 x86-32bit with challenged H/W resources.

Congratulations to all on the latest version.

  3. I am now noticing that if the new MBAM integral scheduler has been requested to run a scan, that scan can not be paused like the previous version's scans were. Of course the scheduler can do the new flash scan.

Personally, I know a skilled user could run multiple updates and either scan type with the Windows Scheduled Tasks and make multiple scans with the previous version (v1.44) even with days of the week limitations. Now I see that we may have sacrificed some vision and control in this new version. I believe we were better off before, and if the flash scan could be included as a Windows batch job feature, the new scheduler is not needed.

I suppose I could have made do with the addition of "/flashscan" and "/flashscanterminate" Command Line Parameters instead.

If the new scheduler fails to run a scheduler scan or update, I'm not sure sufficient diagnostic information would be provided to troubleshoot with.

    Am I missing something here?

I believe I'll continue to test this version at length though.

  4. Hello to all:

If the beta tester has v1.44 installed, prior to trying v1.45b, the disposition of any v1.44 Windows Scheduled MBAM Tasks should probably be discussed in terms of possible conflicts with the new Scheduler feature in v1.45b

I uninstalled MBAM v1.44 using the Revo Uninstaller and followed with mbam-clean.exe. I received the following error message after the uninstall while running mbam-clean.exe: "SHGetValue failed with error code 0" A reboot was executed as directed.

The download, install, and registration of my previous Product ID and Key were all uneventful.

V1.45b's MBAM database did not update passed 3907 while I tested.

A manual quick scan, followed by a full scan, took run times quite similar to previous versions and were uneventful. The hardware I beta tested with runs a fully legal XP3 Pro on a 2 GHz x86-32bit mobo w/2Gb of ram.

The new Scheduler feature is very easy to use and should satisfy most users. I have setup Scheduler tasks to update and scan quick & full.

    Well done folks!

  5. Thanks for the suggestion. However, I don't really understand how to do that. I will wait until future versions are out. It is not a real problem, but just an inconvenience.

    Thanks again.

    Regards,

    Jerry

    Hello Jerry:

Since you posted that you enjoy the MBAM paid version, MBAM has already made an entry in your "Scheduled Tasks".

If you're running XP, go to: start > Settings > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks.

Double-click the existing entry: "MBAM Scheduled Tasks for xxxxxxxx" [Where xxxxxxx is the applicable Username.]

    Left-click the "Schedule" tab.

    Left-click the "Advanced..." button.

Left-click the "Repeat Task" check box.

Beneath, enter something reasonable and polite such as 10 hours.

Again beneath, select Duration and 24 hours.

    Left-click the "OK" button.

MBAM will now update every 10 hours if your system is up.

I extracted much of the above from: <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308569> and modified it for use here.

The procedure is similar in other Windows versions.

  6. So far I have not found an option to update MBAM more than once per day, and at a specific time. I don't leave my computer on 24/7. It may not be on at any particular time, and requires manual update.

That is not the end of the world, but would be more convenient if there was an option to check ever so often.

    Am I missing something?

    Regards,

    Jerry

    Hello Jerry:

Perhaps you could investigate running the following as a scheduled Admin batch job:

    "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe" /runupdate /minimized

So as to not be abusive, you might invoke the batch job to self repeat every eight hours or so.

    HTH
