  1. Hello byte_king: This is one of Mark Russinovich's older tools that can still help an aged system. The initial run may take up to several minutes, during startup, but only adds a few seconds during subsecuent startups. Perhaps this can be thought of as a compliment utility to Jeroen Kessels' MyDefrag. HTH
  2. Hello Marcin: Has a pricing policy been finalized? Thank you.
  3. Please close this topic. I'll re-post in another month or so.
  4. Hello bubbleboi: In as much as you may require at least six RAR compressed downloads, it would probably be best if you contact Biostar's E-Support and identify your system's motherboard with the greatest accuracy. At the same time, it might be best if you pose a question, to them, regarding the possible update of your bios. Biostar's E-Support just might suggest a specific order for your driver installations. Examining a random Biostar driver shows that their installation simply involves launching an extracted executable. Biostar E-Support Portal HTH
  5. Hello bubbleboi: The Biostar website download content would seem to strongly suggest that various chipset drivers are required for Windows 7 compatibility. HTH
  6. Hello bubbleboi: Why do you believe you need to update your BIOS? The risk of failure during a BIOS update can not be discounted. Have you installed all the other motherboard specific, Windows 7 related drivers from the Biostar website? Specifically, what troubles or failures are you experiencing?
  7. @wuzww: Of course it might be bad form for the discussion of shortcomings of an allied software publisher's product. I'll approach this in two ways: 1.) I'll soon send you a P.M. with more detail for the Macrium Reflect product. 2.) Safe to say that if anyone runs Microsoft's integral signature verify application (sigverif.exe), it's a trivial matter to identify which files fail. Please allow me to thank you for going above and beyond and acting as a conduit for my communication with Macrium Support. Well Done!
  8. Hello kezlastef: Although this thread should have been mercifully put to rest awhile back, your post should be further explained. Exactly what formed your understanding? The web page above, that we read, or authoritative verifiable facts heretofore not otherwise sited? How do we logically prove a negative? Thank you.
  9. @wuzww I've PM'd you. Thank you kindly!
  10. @wuzww: Please excuse me for stealing your thread. I have begun short-term testing Macrium Reflect 4.2.3141 for several family members that are backup challenged. My early observations are that their site's forum may not be possible to post to unless you have paid for the application. 1.) When trying to sign up for their forum, the license number from the freeware version is not acceptable. 2.) At least one file, in my evaluation version, has an unsigned executable i.e. not "Code Signed". 3.) Mis-identifies Linux ext4 partition types as ext2/3 types. If you have contact with the folks at Paramount Software, please pass these shortcomings on. Lest someone believe otherwise - Yes, this appears to be an excellent solution so far. Thank you kindly.
  11. Hello mlapl1: Until a more competent authority answers your post, you may wish to extract the IP addresses, from your logs, and put them in a reply. Some MBAM PRO users, who have reported outgoing IP blocks, later reported that they had active file sharing applications (Torrent), Skype, etc. running. HTH
  12. Hello to All: At this point we probably would do well to pin/close this topic.
  13. Hello GT500: Yes, and some of my best friends are Californians...
  14. Hello All: My previous concerns were elevated when my research showed a Support.com presence in Bangalore, India: http://www.support.com/about/careers/locations/bangaluru Of course this is not a guarantee that a call center exists there nor does it guarantee that some/any/all present/future MBAM telephone support would be made there. However, Marcin's statement shows that present MBAM telephone support would be performed by PTE's in Canada and the U.S.
  15. Hello Marcin: Thank you for the very speedy, complete, and indeed reassuring reply. I'm sure we all knew where I was going with this. Selfishly speaking, in my view, the U.S. economy isn't going to recover, at the rate we would like, unless Americans participate in much more and fuller employment. I do wish us all the very best with the new partnership. If it seems appropriate, and if the need arises, perhaps we could suggest a new MBAM forum category for the new telephone support.
  16. Hello Marcin: Please do sir. No rush. Thank you.
  17. Hello Marcin: Will some/all of the telephone support come from Support.com call center employees/contractors in Bangalore, India? Thank you.
  18. This is probably "Webroot Internet Security Complete". <http://www.webroot.com/En_US/consumer-products-internet-security-complete.html> HTH
  19. Hello name cool: In a post I made in a recent thread, in this forum, "Malicious Processes" I sited this website as sometimes having questionable value. Try looking up mbam.exe there. Notice they haven't decided yet if mbam.exe is harmful or not! YMMV
  20. 5 seconds is just enough time for a limber mind to decide to let the default choice play out or hit the "down arrow" key if you've made a multi boot system (Multiple Windows versions, Linux, MEMTEST+, etc). I can think of no conceivable reason for failure.
  21. Manual Update of Definition Database If you cannot update the database to the latest version within the MBAM window, you may follow the instructions below and update it manually: ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet. SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations. * Windows XP and 2000 * C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref * Windows Vista and Windows 7: * C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref You can also download a manual update from HERE. ***NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program. **NOTE: Please note though that this should be a last resort and if at all possible you should attempt to download updates from within the program. Once the system is clean and stable again you should update again from within the program.
  22. This is what is reported about mbamservice.exe at Process Library: mbamservice.exe It's not very descriptive and it seems to be steering you towards a product of financial interest to them such as "SpeedUpMyPC"! Also, they encourage using a registry scanner, whose origins point to a URL that has earned an entry in our well maintained HOSTS files... YMMV

    SkypeSetup

A Cold/Hard Reboot of this XP Home SP3 x86-32bit system was made and no further incidents were noted. The new Skype installed without trouble. Let's file under unsolved mysteries. Thank you.
