As a test, I downloaded, burned and booted up a test system of mine with kav_rescue_10.iso from the URL that exile360 suggested and all proceeded without trouble. My test system booted the rescue CD without any difficulty. What have you observed?

Your own mug shot no doubt! Very good. Where could malwarenet.php be now?

Thank you for the nice new fresh look Robert. Is the main page padlock graphic going to be part of a new logo scheme? Let's see lots more mug shots in: About > Management. Let's see a detailed site map one day. Correct the spelling error on the "COMPANY" page right column: WORLDWIDE instead of WOLRDWIDE. sp -10

Avira's AntiVir Rescue System has a fine reputation. As is Avira's policy, their download files are updated quite frequently. http://www.avira.com/en/support-download-avira-antivir-rescue-system Download just the .iso file and burn your CD. Their signature file can still be updated usually up to several days, with minimal risk, if the suspect/target system has Internet access. HTH

Happy Birthday and thank you for your much needed help!

Hello scams: Sadly enough, more are finding (when it's too late) that all the protections offered by MSE alone are just not enough. In the strongest possible terms, I would recommend that you use and enjoy every full-time protection that MBAM PRO has to offer. Your system's Intel Core i7 processor offers immense resources that will hardly feel the low resource demands of MBAM PRO. HTH

I want to upgrade to Pro version

Hello pegleg302: Yes! You could use any kind of system you wish. Linux, Mac, or PC. Your sense of security is admirable. -
Hello Protection4Real: Q1,2 & 3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Registry and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc751049.aspx. Q3: Malware can sometimes add, delete and/or modify registry keys and/or their contents. Q4: Not directly. Several different names are sometimes given to malware by different malware researchers. e.g. Conficker = Downup = Downadup = Kido. Q5: Malware researchers could sometimes make these findings. The above are but brief and non-authoritative answers. You would do well to broaden your study of the subject.

not in the search and rescue
1PW replied to Macandy's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hello Macandy: If the file has/had no malicious effect/intent (as true malware would) on yours or other systems, then it would be pointless to flag. Your theory that it was residue from an OpenOffice installation is readily possible. You might try researching OpenOffice.org although Oracle announced their discontinuance of support for OOo earlier this month. You may wish to look towards LibreOffice as a viable replacement in the very near future. -
Hello cypriana: MBAM should usually be run from the Administrator's account and therefore all files and partitions can be scanned.

Hello gaussfan: It would be good to know exactly what OS you are running and your system's hardware capabilities (CPU & RAM). From experience, on one of my systems, Comodo's firewall need not have their antivirus package accompany it, however it does have a built-in feature called Defense+ that may either be left turned on (default) or off. It also must go through a period of 'training' that some find annoying but can be made quite painless with care. On a system with good resources, Comodo's firewall footprint will hardly appear burdensome. MBAM PRO, a best-in-breed antivirus application, a well maintained HOSTS file, a sandboxed browser, a good firewall, a NAT router, and common sense are good beginnings to a potent defense combination. FWIW Happened twice in the last four hours. Once for about 10 minutes. Most recently it was for a little over 15 minutes. This was almost certainly a Limestone trouble as a polite series of pings were always answered.

Can I be an Alpha/Early Beta tester ?
1PW replied to Rednose's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Look at Beta Testing Program from time to time. Version 1.51 could be the next one. -
Hello kdot20: Left click on Start and select Control Panel Open Add or Remove Programs Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer, this is very important! You will first need to run the MBAMclean.exe utility after you uninstall MBAM, and this will also reboot your system again. Re-install a fresh copy of MBAM from here. Please reply with your Operating System (OS), plus any installed Antivirus and Firewall and your progress.

Hello Grant: One of my last coffee cups from the Skunk Works got broken. I've gotta go revist them and get some new ones some day.

You might consider running Microsoft's/Sysinternal's TCPView to check which application(s) are seeking outgoing communication. You might also consult your MBAM logs to see if an outgoing port/application is specified when the blocking occurs and post it here. If at anytime you believe malware may be the source of your IP blocks, you should move this thread to the Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs sub-forum for expert help.

Hello struth: This could be a concern. Those IP addresses are in many different countries. 1. Please tell us what Windows OS your computer is running. 2. Do you have any file sharing applications running such as a torrent, P2P client, Skype or similar? 3. What is the name and version of your antivirus application and what are the results of its scans? Based on your answers, it might be best to move your inquire to another sub-forum where possibly infected systems are troubleshot with the aid of a trained expert.

Looks like it was a nice day in the Antelope Valley. You took some terrific photos. Maybe you could tell us something about your camera.

Our MBAM's database is kept within MalwareNET and the formation of the entries follows a scheme where the type of infection is catagorized at the beginning of each line item: MalwareNET Perhaps Fakeinit and Dialer can not be so easily catagorized. I see where Fakeinit is termed a Trojan and a Rogue.
