  1. Me to. Mbam just blocked sv.symcd.com originating from taskhostw.exe. That is worrying!
  2. I think Adwcleaner has a false positive. Mbam and Bitdefender did not find any malware when I scanned with them. Also, if you remove the googleupdate.exe, and reinstall Chrome, Googleupdate.exe reappears. I have made a thread on Bleepingcomputer since it seems to be an adwcleaner issue. If you all agree, then please close this thread.
  3. Greetings, Not sure if this is the right forum for something that only involves AdwCleaner. Should I try BleepingComputer instead? Anyway here goes... I ran Adwcleaner on two different computers. Both came up with the same results in the following log: # AdwCleaner v4.001 - Report created 29/10/2014 at 11:06:33# Updated 20/10/2014 by Xplode# Database : 2014-10-26.6# Operating System : Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 (64 bits)# Username : lausd_administrator - LIBGIGABYTEPC# Running from : J:\Software\Windows\Antivirus\AdwCleaner.exe# Option : Scan***** [ Services ] ********** [ Files / Folders ] ********** [ Scheduled Tasks ] ********** [ Shortcuts ] ********** [ Registry ] *****Key Found : HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\GoogleUpdate.exe***** [ Browsers ] *****-\\ Internet Explorer v0.0.0.0-\\ Mozilla Firefox v32.0.1 (x86 en-US)-\\ Google Chrome v38.0.2125.111*************************AdwCleaner[R0].txt - [772 octets] - [29/10/2014 11:06:33]########## EOF - C:\AdwCleaner\AdwCleaner[R0].txt - [831 octets] ##########It seems to have deleted GoogleUpdate or something hiding as GoogleUpdate. I guess it was legit as GoogleUpdate no longer appears in the startup tab of msconfig.exe. Is this a false positive or something I should actually worry about? Attached are the Farbar logs. 5. Running the mbam clean tool did not solve the problem apparently. I followed the directions, and while running a threat scan (bitdefender was also running, but not scanning) I got a BSOD, which read: IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE I have gotten this BSOD recently, but while the malwarebytes application was not running, I believe. I have attached the farbar and mbam-check logs. Addition.txt FRST.txt CheckResults.txt
  6. I was watching a video on youtube while also copying some stuff between drives, when I got a BSOD. WhoCrashed reported that the Malwarebytes driver, mwac.sys. and the tcpip.sys driver, caused a blue screen. I also used BlueScreenView and it only reported that tcpip.sys caused a bluescreen. I saved the dump. Should I upload it or paste it in the message? Would more information such as system specs help? Thanks a bunch!!
  7. I see. That it is unusual that it was not detected, or not installed. I'll have to watch for it in the future.
  8. I can certainly upload it. There it is, I guess.
  9. Daemon Tools use to install a PUP, known as OpenCandy, at least when I use the free license. The version I use, 4481-0347, does not as far as I can tell. I turned off all malware protection once and ran it on two different systems, one xp the other 7. After scanning I found no OpenCandy nonsense. Malwarebytes still reports DTLite4481-0347 as an installer for the adware OpenCandy. I don't know if the latest version does, but 4481-0347 does not, according to avast, mbam, and adwcleaner. Does anybody know if Daemon Tools still installs adware? Is it still worth investigation, or did the Daemon team forget version 4481-0347?
  10. I upgraded from 1.75 - 2.0 both pro licenses, and recently I have two taskbar icons for malwarebytes. If I exit one of them Malwarebytes will still be running. Occasionally it will report that live scanning has stopped, but not always. I also have Bitdefender x64 free edition running alongisde ole' malwarebytes. Also, I would like to take this moment to indicate how much I like Malwarebytes. It's the best! (at removing stuff.)
