Launch KIS. Enter the settings, and turn scheduled scanning off. Then, open command prompt by clicking Start > Run (or use Start search in Vista/7)...type in CMD and hit OK. Place the following line in: dir c:\windows\tasks > log.txt && start log.txt post back the log that launches.
Looks to be an infection in that area. Probably might want that checked out. If CCleaner is freezing on that spot, then possibly an infection is avoiding interrogation or deletion.
Making users pay for an ineffective removal is ridiculous. Support teams that charge that much should be ashamed of themselves. Luckily, online malware removal forums will not charge. No wonder why the online forums for malware removal are so popular. No point in paying for malware removal, if volunteers like to do it for free (and effective).
The whole WOT issue should be resolved. Apparently it was unknown why it happened, but it seems better now. I would say to empty cache, close Firefox, and reboot your computer - then see if the problem still sticks. It was probably a communication error, which needed to re-sync itself. =========== About the security hole, I think some security company should develop an anti-exploit program, so security holes can be guarded.
Nah. Probably just your computer getting the hang of your activity on it. Security programs usually learn your browsing habits and try to workaround them while protecting you at the same time.
Back about four years ago, I ran Comodo Firewall with AVG, imagine how slow that could be. Sad part is, that was before AVG bought Ewido. So, guess what else was on there, an antispyware. When I decided to leave them both, I got a different firewall and began beta testing for Avira. Did that for a small time.

Sorry SlackerLX, but that is plagiarism. 1 Actual source: http://antivirus.about.com/od/securitytips/g/hips.htm ==================== 2 Actual source: http://www.thefreecountry.com/security/hips.shtml ======================= The actual name for this security functionality is host-based intrusion prevention system. I would recommend to state your sources next time you want to place that data or any other data somewhere.
The technology still depends on signatures, just from other vendors. In a combined architecture, many databases scan each new file that is created in the system, and if bad, the file gets deleted. Let's say a system file gets infected, and it passes through the scanners, and the scanners say DELETE... the system file gets deleted and the person's computer fails to boot. In essence it is new, researched by scientists at the University of Michigan, it's just not the best way.
