  3. @ mountaintree16.... thats what I was thinking, if he was infected, and it asked him to restart, then the shield would appear asking to confirm the finishing process of Malwarebytes....
  4. Did you have an infection and then it asked you to restart to remove it?
  5. yes it can be done using a recue disk, but my concern is this, could there be malware or a virus/rootkit on your computer?

  7. Not on the staff here but.... If I am not mistaken, when you E: drive for scanning, when the scan starts, it will still scan some files in C: drive to make sure there are no active infections that could infect the other drives.
  8. Are you installing Malwarebytes in a limited account, if you are then you need to install it as an ADMIN or right click the install file and then click Run As Admin.....
  9. Just curious and also so anyone else following this thread, what was the fix that worked for you? Possible causes may be the way you uninstalled it. Another possible cause could be if you had an error while trying to download the latest update definitions it could cause problems opening up. It is possible also that you have some file corruption going on in your hard drive, and it happen to be in the section where Malwarebytes is installed. If you want to run a checkdisk on your drive, below are the instructions.... Disk Check Instructions Please do the following, use the instructions appropriate to your version of Windows: Run a Disk Check on your C: drive in Windows XP: Click Start and open My Computer Right-click on C: and select Properties Click on the Tools tab Under Error-checking click the Check Now... button Mark the box next to Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors When the message box pops up, click the Schedule disk check button and restart your computer Once your computer restarts it will check the drive, don't press any keys so that it is allowed to do so Run a Disk Check on your C: drive in Windows Vista or Windws 7: Click the Start button and select Computer Right-click on C: and select Properties Click on the Tools tab Under Error-checking click the Check Now... button and click Continue at the User Account Control prompt Mark the box next to Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors When the message box pops up, click the Schedule disk check button and restart your computer Once your computer restarts it will check the drive, don't press any keys so that it is allowed to do so Please let us know how it went. Thank you
  10. Sorry to hear that you got infected..... Some things to mention..... Glad to hear you are getting help from the MBAM support staff, and you are right they are GREAT! Malware is always changing so its hard to be fully protected 100% of the time. As for an expiration date, there is none, if you paid for the full version, it is a lifetime license, it never expires. What version of Malwarebytes did you have installed, and was it up to date? You have to make sure that Malwarebytes is up to date, have the latest version installed, and that you have the scheduler configured correctly so that updates happen regularly, and a scan done daily. Also you have to make sure you have the web blocker enabled. It is also important that you have up to date anti-virus software installed, as Malwarebytes is not an anti-virus program, it is meant to work hand in hand with your anti-virus software. hope that helps and/or answers your questions or concerns.....

  17. you can compare the search for what you are looking for in a side by side comparison at: Bing vs Google
  18. OK i see what your talking about, those do have a small flash drive in them, but its only visable to the card, it stores the drivers for the card in it so that it can load the driver when you plug it into your computer. Since they are write protected, you should be safe. I would however make sure that you have anti-virus software running on your new computer.
  19. Hello and If you are refering to a usb network card or a usb wireless network card as a dongle, then no I do not believe that they can attach themselves to the device. If the device has a flash drive with it (like you can write files to it) then it is possible that the virus can copy itself to it. Do you have maybe a model number of the device you are talking about so we can look it up?

  21. Have a look at THIS GUIDE. It gives you step by step instructions on how to add these in your AVG software.
  22. I do not think it has anything to do with the fact that you have 64bit...... I have on some computers installed several versions of .net framework and have no issues, it should not conflict. I have software that even though I have .net 3.5 installed it will not run unless .net 2.0 is installed. So should not be .net either. add the exceptions in your AVG software for malwarebytes, the files that need excluding are listed below: Please exclude the following files from your antivirus: Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE from it as well Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site: data-cdn.mbamupdates.com The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products Please post back and let us know how it went.
  23. Unless I am mistaken.... If you have the Pro (ie full version), login as an admin, and then schedule the updates while you are logged in as the admin. This will then do the updates no matter who is logged in. How To Use The New Scheduler Once you register your full version make sure you schedule your program for automatic updates and scans..... Have a look at How To Use The New Scheduler To answer your question, this is by design, it is not a bug....
  24. I am a member of this site, maybe you can give that a try.... http://www.smileygenerator.us/community/index.php
