  1. Also make sure you have the latest version of the software and updated database to make sure it catches all infections and to ensure that this is not a false positive.
  2. Do you think that you may be infected? What version of Malwarebytes did you install, and did you update it? You really need to have Anti-virus installed on this computer as well, Malwarebytes alone will not protect you, as Malwarebytes is NOT an Anti-Virus Program.
  3. Hi, and Welcome to Malwarebytes! Sounds like you may have some malware or virus preventing it from running..... Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. After posting your new post, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine. NOTE: Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours. Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post. If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again. Or You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here. Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible. PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" button instead of other ones when you start replying.

  6. Hello and First things first, you have ran a scan with Malwarebytes 1.40 with database 2701 (which is quite outdated) current version is 1.46 with database 4660 as I type this..... Please follow the instructions below to update to the latest version and try another quick scan after that, lets see if that corrects your issue..... Please try the following to see if it helps: Windows XP: Click on Start and select Control Panel Open Add/Remove Programs Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here NOTE: If you get SHGetValue failed with error code 0, that only means that the tool has nothing to perform, continue on with the next step.... It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it. Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click on the Start button and select Control Panel Click on Programs and Features Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here NOTE: If you get SHGetValue failed with error code 0, that only means that the tool has nothing to perform, continue on with the next step.... 7. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to remove the hard drive and use a device like this IDE/SATA to USB Device to copy the data off that drive. You can find these at most computer stores....
  8. First off add exceptions to your antivirus software for the malwarebytes files as listed below.... Please exclude the following files from your antivirus: Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Second you need to run an update to Malwarebytes, the definition you are using to perform a scan is quite old..... Third perform a quick scan first (this will catch most if not all the infections if any)

  10. Hello and Just download the installer on the computer that has internet access to a flash drive, or burn it to CD. Here are the download links for you, these can change from time to time especially when the new version comes out.... Download FROM HERE: This link will direct you to any of the following download sites, all considered safe: CNET FileForumBeta MajorGeeks TechSpot Or you can use THIS LINK from cnet download should work okay until or unless they change it. Note: Ignore all 'Recommended' or 'Sponsored' software which is prominently displayed, they are ads and we do not have any association with them. Save the file to your flash drive then double-click it on the installer on the infected computer to begin installation. Also copy the latest diffinition files from the working machine to the flash drive so that you can copy it to the infected computer so you can run a quick scan with the latest definition files..... Manual Update of Definition Database If you cannot update the database to the latest version within the MBAM window, you may follow the instructions below and update it manually: ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet. SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations. Windows XP and 2000 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref You can also download a manual update from HERE - ***NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program. **NOTE: Please note though that this should be a last resort and if at all possible you should attempt to download updates from within the program. Once the system is clean and stable again you should update again from within the program.
  11. This would be great, so long that MBAM was able to be password protected so the kids would not undo what the parent did....
