  1. Ok since you are infected (most likely) you will have to seek help from the experts. ALSO yes using file sharing programs will run a great risk of getting infected. Its not a matter of can I get infected, but as when you will get infected. Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. After posting your new post, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine. NOTE: Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours. Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post. If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again. Or You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here. Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible. PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" button instead of other ones when you start replying.
  2. There is a known issue with the latest version of AVG 2011 and Malwarebytes. We are trying to figure out what the issue is to correct it. Anyway, you still need to have an anti-virus software installed because Malwarebytes is not an Anti-Virus program. May I suggest using Microsoft Security Essentials, it is free as well. We have a guide for exceptions for Malwarebytes use with MSE located HERE.
  3. MS does have a valid point..... For a tech savy person like myself, I would probably not mind using open office and I could probably figure out how to do what I needed it to do. For folks that can find their way around or figure it out, they have to call tech support and then spend $$ trying to figure it out. M$ makes it easy provides lots of free help as well..... I am an M$ office user....

  7. If this is the case that it will not run while the file is named mbam.exe, then you have an infection/rootkit that is preventing the program from running as designed. Malwarebytes may not be picking it up so you will have to seek help from the experts to find the infection. Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. 8. Is it running fine now with the correct name of MBAM.EXE?
  9. Those files seem to point to services from your IBM LENOVO notebook. Turning those off may cause some issues with some of your devices not working properly.....
  10. The MBAM_440_fix does exist...... If you are having problems downloading the file and can not open it, just copy the code below into notepad and then save the file as mbam_440_fix.bat. Once you save the file double click it and let it run. It will delete the file once it is done. @echo off if exist "%programfiles(x86)%" regsvr32 "%programfiles(x86)%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll" if exist "%programfiles(x86)%" regsvr32 "%programfiles(x86)%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ssubtmr6.dll" if exist "%programfiles(x86)%" regsvr32 "%programfiles(x86)%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\vbalsgrid6.ocx" if not exist "%programfiles(x86)%" regsvr32 "%programfiles%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll" if not exist "%programfiles(x86)%" regsvr32 "%programfiles%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ssubtmr6.dll" if not exist "%programfiles(x86)%" regsvr32 "%programfiles%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\vbalsgrid6.ocx" del /f /q %0
  11. Are you using a router to connect to the internet on all these devices? If so it is possible that your router has been hijacked and is not allowing you to connect to those sites..... Follow the instructions above and let us know the results.....

  13. I am glad it worked for you, if you have any other issues or questions don't hesitate to ask.
  14. Here are the instructions to do this manually, the links provide earlier do work by the way..... Manual Update of Definition Database If you cannot update the database to the latest version within the MBAM window, you may follow the instructions below and update it manually: ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet. SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations. Windows XP and 2000 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref You can also download a manual update from HERE - ***NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program. **NOTE: Please note though that this should be a last resort and if at all possible you should attempt to download updates from within the program. Once the system is clean and stable again you should update again from within the program.
  15. Just to add..... If you already have the pro version you need to configure the updates, the scheduler was changed starting with version 1.45. How To Use The New Scheduler Once you register your full version make sure you schedule your program for automatic updates and scans..... Have a look at How To Use The New Scheduler
  16. Have you tried the solutions in this thread..... It would have been better to start your own topic, but try the solutions in Post #12 and #14 above.....
  17. I just wanted to step in here for a minute..... You can have links and actual malware or viruses in a folder for example, just sitting there, and not get infected. The way you get infected is if you physically click on the link or the virus itself to activate them. Just having the bookmark would not necessarily infect you unless you clicked on it. You may have visited a site that put that bookmark there automatically hoping that you would find it one day and click on it. Now there are websites that you could visit, that have java scripts and the like in them, that you would not have to do anything but visit the page, and it would infect you. So best course of action is to have a good updated anti-virus program, a good malware program (like Malwarebytes Pro) and a good firewall configured correctly.
  18. If you say that WoW does updates using torrent type software, it is possible that WoW was checking for updates at the moment when this happened, even though it did not find an update or download one, so it is possible it was caused by this. Also Messenger could have been the culprit. Skype, torrent software, P2P software and messenger programs can cause these. If you get this to happen again, note what you were doing and get back to us, if it continues to happen repeatedly, then perhaps the experts can help you out to check some logs for you, but lets see if it continues first.....
  19. You can go HERE for instructions on how to add exceptions to your MSE Antivirus. The files that need to be excluded are also shown in the example in that page....

  21. Hi, and Welcome to Malwarebytes! This ip is located in Republic of Moldova Are you using any P2P software like Utorrent, BitTorrent, Limewire or the like? Do you use Skype? Sometimes these try to connect to strange sites. If not, then there could be a rootkit or something on your computer causing this so you may want to have the experts take a look at it to be sure.....
