  1. The password you are seeing is the one that was set by the previous owner in the BIOS. It has to be cleared in the BIOS. This could be hard on a laptop. Usually what you would do on a desktop is remove power from desktop, then remove the battery off the motherboard for a few minutes, and that would clear the password. On a laptop the same would work, but the motherboard battery is hard to get to on a laptop (on some anyway). You could try removing the battery and power cord and let it sit for a while see if it looses the password. (this would work especially of the battery on the motherboard is weak or dead). Aside from that, have you tried to contact the person you bought it from and asked them for the password?
  2. Do a couple restarts to make sure it is still working for you.....
  3. That traceroute log shows a DNS issue, and it's possible that your DNS settings have been hijacked. Try this - It is general solution that works most times - You may want to copy/paste this to notepad as you will disconnect from the Internet for a while - 1. Very important: First disconnect your computer from the Internet. Just Log Off- while you reset the router - 2. Router Reset: Next you must reset the router to its default configuration. This can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router. Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds). NOTE: To help prevent the router from getting hijacked again, make sure you change the default password to the router and also secure your wireless connection. 3. Reset the IP/DNS settings of your Internet connection: Download this Microsoft Item 4. Flush the DNS cache: Click the Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen Click on Run or press Windows Logo+R In the command window copy/paste the following: ipconfig /flushdns netsh winsock reset Then hit enter and a black box will flash . Exit the command window. 5 Update: Try to update to the latest version NOTE: This is what we are looking for - Name: edge.data-cdn.mbamupdates.com Address: 68.232.45.133 Thank You -

  14. What version of AVG are you using (not free or pro, but like Version 8.5, 9, or 2011 for example)? Have you entered exceptions for Malwarebytes in your AVG program? Also BTW, you really only need to run a Quick Scan as that will catch most all malware......

  17. Hi, and Welcome to Malwarebytes! Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. After posting your new post, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine. NOTE: Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours. Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post. If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again. Or You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here. Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible. PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" button instead of other ones when you start replying.
