  1. I was worried about that, after reading other posts. I will follow your advice, but have a couple of questions. How worried should I be about other computers on the Network (four computers on a Windows network) being infected by this computer? I discovered the alerts on Tuesday morning, after a long weekend. The initial infection seemed to occur on Saturday, with the infected computer not being removed from the Network or Internet until Tuesday. Up until this point, AVG anti-virus has not detected anything on the other computers, but should I run MalwareBytes and HiJack on those computers also? Thanks for your advice.
  2. Is this salvageable without reformat Hi, I hope someone can help me with this computer. AVG free caught some viruses, and deleted them, but problems still occurred. I ran MalwareBytes, and the log was; Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.36 Database version: 1945 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 2009-08-04 14:15:46 mbam-log-2009-08-04 (14-15-46).txt Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 77185 Time elapsed: 4 minute(s), 34 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 1 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 3 Registry Values Infected: 2 Registry Data Items Infected: 1 Folders Infected: 3 Files Infected: 7 Memory Processes Infected: C:\WINDOWS\system32\reader_s.exe (Trojan.Agent) -> Unloaded process successfully. When I tried to restart the computer, I received an error message (logonui.exe - Application error) and Windows would not start properly. I restarted in safe mode, re-ran MalwareBytes, and eventually got the computer to restart in 'normal' mode. However, I received an error message 'spoolsv.exe - Application error', and the printer server was stopped. I restarted this, and the printers were usable, but upon restart the same problem occurred. I reran MalwareBytes, and received an apparently clean report, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.40 Database version: 2551 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 05/08/2009 9:48:13 AM mbam-log-2009-08-05 (09-48-13).txt Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 99803 Time elapsed: 5 minute(s), 57 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) The HiJack log was as follows; Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 9:50:00 AM, on 05/08/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxsrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\RTHDCPL.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\Roxio\Drag-to-Disc\DrgToDsc.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD DX\PDVDDXSrv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgtray.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\bin\sprtcmd.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1227043226\ee\AOLSoftware.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\gs_agent\dsc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLAcsd.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgwdsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgrsx.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgnsx.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\bin\sprtsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlwriter.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgcsrvx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R0 -
