  1. Hello, Just an update, I can get malwarebytes to run in Safe mode and also if I go into MSCONFIG do selective startup and disable all non-Microsoft services. The first time I ran it after disabling the services, it detected and cleaned 5 problems, and another c:\Windows\System32\MSIVXcount (Trojan.Agent) was put on the delete on reboot list. I rebooted (still using selective startup) and ran malwarebytes again. This time it still found Trojan.Agent and again added to the delete on reboot list. I changed back to normal startup, and after reboot got a message that Trojan.Agent was deleted. I ran malwarebytes in normal startup mode, it detected 3 additional problems which needed to be deleted on reboot. Rebooted again in normal mode, reran malwarbytes and now runs clean with no problems detected. I'm not sure what was initially preventing malwarebytes from running in normal startup mode, but bottom line I guess is that you just have to keep on trying. Thanks, Ron
  2. Hello, It was a quick scan. I let it sit there for about 20 minutes before I tried to stop the scan...would not stop. Just non-responsive. I tried closing program/end now/shutdown...etc. Nothing worked. Had to hold down the power switch. Ron
  3. Hello, After several minutes or scanning, Malwarebytes goes non-responsive. When it stops responding, the screen is similar to this Objects Scanned: 30648 Objects Infected: 2 Time Elapsed: 3 minute(s), 5 second(s) Currently Scanning: c:\Windows\system32\Config\SECURITY.LOG1 It usually stops on SECURITY.LOG1, but not always. I am pretty sure that my laptop is infected because I had to rename the executable just to get it to run. I followed the procedure below that I found on this forum because I thought my Norton Anti-virus was preventing it from running. Still will not run. I also cannot install HijackThis because as soon as I try to install, I get a BSOD. OS=Windows Vista Home premium Thinkpad T61. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks, Ron ================================================================================ === Basic procedures to correct freezing issues often due to other Security Software If these procedures do not correct the problem please create a new post seeking further assistance 1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel. 2. Restart your computer (very important). 3. Download and run this utility. 4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to). 5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here Note: If you're using a PAID version of Malwareybtes, you will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail. BEFORE registering and starting the Protection Module, locate the Exclusion List for your Anti-Virus. Probably under an advanced menu in the program. Add the following folders, sub-folders if you can, at a minimum add the files to the exclusion to be safe. * C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware * C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware * C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref * C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys * C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys * C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe * C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe * C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
