  1. well, that threat scan is not something I am aware about. I just use the default setting. Next time I go to her house, I'll be sure to re-do the scan w/ the above procedure. Good tips. Thank you
  2. So, this is what I have done. A friend's PC was hacked. It was stuck w/ a boot up pwd. But Vista was able to restore it to a prev. known config. and Vista finally boot up. So I load up malware bytes , download the latest signature, and do the scan. It found 45 objects. At this point, I honestly thought those malware are all gone. Went to CNN.com, everything looks fine. Then we go to mapquest.com, and suddenly a tool bar appears, (see link below) When I go back another website, like CNN.com, the toolbar stays there. So what I need is to RESET IE 9, and un-install the entire Chrome, and re-install it from DVD. It still doesn't work. The tool bar stays. IN the end, someone give me this link: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/mixi-dj-toolbar-virus/ now, does that mean on top of malware bytes, you need to install and run ADWcleaner and Hitman Pro just to remove this Mix DJ malware? I thought, supposedly, all you need is to run a scan w/ malware bytes. Now, w/ the old ver., I think you have to click full scan or something like that. But w/ ver 2.12, I don't recall I see a Full scan option, and right after the update, I do the scan. how does anyone be able to keep track of knowing that you need to use other software like adwcleaner, to remove a certain spyware?
