  1. Apologies for the delay in replying. Good news - Self Protection switches off/on with no BSoD. Quick query: why is the Rootkit scan turned off and how can I get it to run?
  2. Latest version now successfully installed and currently performing a scan.
  3. The install just seems to have stalled. Should I run the cleanup tool again and run the file I've already downloaded. The issue may be that the installer is trying to install the 32 bit version on my 64 bit system.
  4. The cleanup tool has run successfully and downloaded the latest version of MWB and the install is proceeding but seems to be taking a very long time. As a separate issue: Ive never been able to get the "RootKIt" module to work. Will it work with this incarnation?
  5. Haven't tried but will give it a go. I've also removed Comodo Antivirus which snuck on when I was trialing IceDragon.
  6. Yes. I've tried to follow your suggestions to the letter. Hope this doesn't add to the problem but I've updated to McAfee "LiveSafe" and that procedure was error free - no BSoD.
  7. Also tried to remove it using Windows Add/Remove Programs - same result!
  8. Same result - BSoD with same message re. Kernel Security Check Failure.
  9. Apologies for the tardy response but I've been to bed since my last post. Downloaded both programs but got aBSoD as soon as I tried to run the clean-up tool, even in Safe Mode!
  10. System crashed as soon as I tried to turn the self protection module off.
  11. Malwarebytes Premium 3.1.2 seems to be working fine - I'm running a scan now. The problem I have is when I boot the computer or run MWB I get a message to say that an upgrade is ready to install and when I click on install and go through to start the install the BSoD happens.
  12. Just tried your suggestion - BSoD again but thanks for the thought!
  13. Every time I try to install the latest version I get a BSoD with the message "Kernel Security Check Failure". I have run the MS Software repair tool and ReImage Repair. Neither have worked. mb-check-results.zip
  14. Still getting the same message and when I allow the machine to restart I still get the same black screen with MBAM running in in the middle. The latest scan completed with nothing found. Is it just a bug or is there something malicious causing this behaviour?
  15. Have done as you suggested and MBAM seems to be performing correctly - it detected three trojans, Hijack.Trojan.Poweliks and seems have removed them. I'll give it a day or so to see if the "rootkit" issue re-appears and get back to you.
  16. Still getting the "Unable to load Anti-rootkit DDA Driver" Message. Machine seems to be functioning ok otherwise. Any idea what might be generating this message?
  17. I'm still getting the "unable to load the anti-rootkit dda driver" message. Will try a re-boot to see what happens and report back.
  18. AdwareCleaner failed in Safe Mode also. JRT log is attached. MBAM reports all clear. Will have to wait to see if the problem persists. One point of note: after the computer was run in safe mode, when it started normally Combofix had disappeared from the desktop. Will be away a few days from today but will visit again late on Sunday.JRT.txt
  19. Ran AdwCleaner and when I clicked "Clean" a box popped up to the effect Au2??? has stopped working. I can't find the report file.
  20. Fixlog.txtI did; sorry I forgot to post it
  21. Doh, Homer moment! File now attached. ComboFix.txt
  22. Small problem: have run Combofix and it generated a log.txt file. When I closed this in preparation to attach it to this reply it vanished. What do I do now?
